So much for the theory that Kraftwerk just hits a button from their stations and pretends to play. As I see it, there is a ton of werking going on up there. It's more similar to Rock Band, actually. The song's bpm is set in stone due to the video synchronization, and some of the loops are pre-set, it's up to them to just hit them at the right time and do the vocals. There is a bit of a room for improvisation, but not too much.

I got all their albums, singles and CD versions. i listen to the song regularly on my Ipod - no one is saying they are not talented or they are fakes, far from it. The songs are all classics. The only problem, for many, is that there is no difference between what we see here, and having everything pre set on your Mac, hitting a button and the whole track comes out on playback. If you want to pay for that, no problem, as long as you enjoy it.

The technology has unquestionably progressed since the Autobahn graced the world. I still find this POV revealing. Ralf (#1) has the full musical keyboard and the "live" vocals, #2 has the mini, and ##3 and 4 each lacks one but has a full alphanumeric keyboard. All appear to process "effects" and volume, I suspect #2 "masters" the tempi, #3 masters the volume, ##3 and 4 sync up (or with) the video. I'd wager #4 orders the pizza, and I daresay by concert's end the group earns one for each! And when Florian was #4 I had no doubt he had no interest in pizza but made sure everything WORKED.
Grew up listening to this and I've been inspired ever since to try and be as alternative. Totally amazing music that needs to be continuously listened to !!!!

Cependant je ne connais pas bien l'histoire du groupe ni même les membres

they never use playback, they just made it easier. back then, dozens of notes are hanging on their consoles with the settings for each song. with the digital era, you can now save all settings on the computer with only one press on a button to load this settings.
Very rare angle ! its a veritable iPad fest Ralph plays a 'real' synth but im astounded by the guy to Raphs left using a crappy £40 keyboard controler, and not 1 mac in sight !
+kvfive it's called muscle memory + coordination (used to play all instruments). If you think they are not "playing" the music, you are missing out on the riches nuances of same songs played at different dates (which definitely sound different). I know it's hard to get over "seeing" what's happening on the video, but do yourself a favor if you love Kraftwerk music and let your ears be the judge.
You're the one who went to shit, they always were cutting edge in technology. in the 80's they already said they were doing digital cause the world would go in that direction. They are being consequent with themselves.

back in the 90' and 00' there were more samples, now it's mostly vst (i guess)
