I've been following the Build A Soil principals. I use a 4x2 soil bed in my 4x2 tent now. Went from 5 gallon AC infinity fabric pots to the grass roots soil bed. Running 70 gallons in there. The plants get massive root systems and grow big and healthy quickly. Soil bed isn't for everyone. It's very very heavy. However, the soil is alive and never gets changed. It's a whole ecosystem now

I have used one myself, it is crazy how much humidity control changes with the beds.

@lutherniheu6079 I start the seedlings in solo cups then go straight into the bed. From Clones I do the same, solo cup to bed. You could do a stage in between but it's easier this way for me. Cuts out a lot of work

Also I live close to the Pacific Ocean and get the evening wetness, the evil of plants with bud rot. I bring them into the garage at night and keep the fan blowing. Nightly inspections for caterpillars with a flashlight and weekly BT until the last two weeks.

You can definitely start auto's in smaller pots and move them up to the final containers within the first 14 days without much if any drawback aslong as the starting pots are sufficient in size though I would suggest 10 days is best and every day after 16 you will notice in the final outcome, 3ltr pots should suffice. The main benefit of auto's in my opinion is the ability to grow perpetually, as one lot comes down the other lot get potted up. Great info as always guys!

I’ve been growing for over 20 yrs now. For a long time before it was legal it was small indoor grows or gorilla mountain side growing. Outdoor I prefer 7-10 gallon and that does well. The main two roots will find their way into the ground and the plants become monsters yielding over a lb outdoor. Indoor I like one month veg after seedling stage is over, about 3 weeks. Then right to flower. 4-5 gallon works well for nice size buds with this long of flower. Drywall compound buckets are now only 4.5 gallon with shrink flation but they’re now black so no need to paint anymore! Cheers I love your videos on insight of your preferred grow methods

I go from clear solo sized cups ( so I can see when the roots are getting near the bottom) to 4-5 gallon buckets for outside growing. I really don’t want a main cola height high enough that I need a ladder to examine it. I usually end up with 5-6 footers and after harvest I dump the soil out and the root ball has completely filled the container. This in a climate close to Niagara Falls. I drill dozens of holes through the sides and bottom of the buckets.

hello I'm not in no pot I'm straight in the ground… and I always try to get my plants out the last two weeks of April… why so soon? Because we get a lot of rain around that time plum through May and the plants love it! and they grow very quickly... during this time I do not feed nothing besides it's hard to feed when it's raining so much which I do not mind at all… It gives the plants a giant Headstart and since I am in ground I wind up with very large Indica plants… next year going to grow both Indica and sativa I would love to see how tall I get a sativa plant! and a lot of times when it comes to feeding, I don't get to feed until usually the very beginning of June lol because of the rain through April and through May… I top the very top of the plants and the limbs when they come out and get at least four or five nodes over 3 foot tall as well I only do this once :-) I shave the legs and keep the stock clear of any debris… just where the limbs are where they start at the stock... just there only everything on top where the bud sites I leave alone... I will keep it trimmed like this And I feed with my own organic teas that I blend together, one for veg and one for flour
Nutrient uptake is immediately I only do this after they bounce back from the topping and shaving the legs… they explode Then I feed the veg tea usually two or three times… after they bounce back from topping and shaving the legs I water in between feedings I have a 55 gallon drum that I fill up and let it dechlorinate… and run the pH down to 6.2 to 6.5-ish It's right beside my garden :-) in the middle of May and then in the middle of June of feed again, and then at the end of July I will feed of course at the same time in May, June and July I will be adding in silica blast because of the weather will start getting hotter sometimes beginning but normally at the end of June... I start feeding silica blast this time the beginning of June through August and in August it gets extremely hot… the silica blast seriously helps! I will add silica blast one more time in the middle of August and then swapping to a flower tea with extra NPK boosters, and this is when they explode in stretch and in growth in Bud weight extremely! I begin this immediately at the end of August that's when time starts to flip and will be feeding every other third week plumb into the first week of October flushing for the last three weeks up until harvest...😎 I am growing my own medical marijuana… I am in Oklahoma :-) I am 100% blind and love growing!🥰 and I found your show very informative I might think about using grow dots but only with my auto flower grow next time… For my auto flower run I use 7 gallon cloth pots… here are the strains I'm rocking and rolling this year one is (a wonderful smelling super super sticky extremely gassy frozen black cherry I recommend this girl extremely!!!) I ordered the seeds from Spain, next... from Canada, I got the seeds from Med Mann from here inside of TH-cam believe it or not…
You can find him at medman.com and the plants they was wonderful!!! running them again this year...... they were regular seeds but they still produced females! The names are rockstar, original Headbanger, Master Kush… The auto flowers I like to run come from growers choice seeds... the seeds come out of California... i've never had a problem with this company some people have...
I deal with them over the phone they make my orders and everything… there's not very many companies that you can talk to by phone and to make an order... lol lol the strains I like to get for auto flowers is critical purple and cotton candy Kush… and the plants that I got from Med Man for Indica plants they was every bit of 7 foot tall with massive sticky buds I loved it! and they're on their way to be that tall again this year......🥰 I do suggest the plants I also extremely extremely suggest the frozen black cherry and if you like autoflowers the cotton candy Kush smells exactly like it sounds and it taste great it's an amazing plant… critical purple for an auto flower it got very large and has a very strong Skunky pungent barnyard odor and the buds got very large and beautiful she got little over 3 foot tall...
for a auto flower that's pretty large! she produced 4 1/2 ounces of dry weight not bad at all the cotton candy Kush I got 3 ounces I fell in love with those strains for auto flowers immediately! lol and the girls from Canada love them as well that's why I'm running them again this year! I didn't get the auto flowers this year didn't have the funds 🥰 sorry for rambling so much lol I just get excited when I talk about gardening!😎 thank you for your show I really enjoyed it…

After about another 10 days, I up it to 16oz. of water. Most importantly, "paying attention to the leaves and where they sit". Once I see them starting to droop, I water the next day just to make sure they're actually thirsty. I've noticed that the lower leaves droop before the top ones do. For people who have trouble transplanting I recommend to water and then transplant a day before the next need for water and don't disturb the roots. If it's a solo cup in the next pot make sure you have a hole big enough to just drop the entire thing right in in the same size and shape of the solo and also have the new pot of soil already watered don't water after the transplant if the outer soil is wet and the solo cup size soil just damp enough so it's not thirsty but also not overly wet. Then when you put that in the properly pre soaked soil instead of that next day needing water it will wick up the outer new soils water for a few days wait to water until that slight wilt again it's better and easier to fix an under watered plant than an over watered. So that's why I say good moist not over watered new soil and that day before needing water soil never had an issue and I'm still new at it. Just one of those things I got lucky to figure out from trial and error

Autos…You can certainly transplant autos successfully, Autos under a 18/6 light schedule has a vegetative stage of 2-5 weeks veg max.
From a Solo Cup 9-11 days until transplanting, for me.
1st 4 weeks plant is vegging
    Starts to flower day 35-40
Rule of thumb: 2 weeks or 4-10” in height = a robust root system and several nodes is a good sign before transplanting, making sure to avoid letting the tap root/roots hit the bottom of the cup. Letting the roots touch the bottom will forever hurt your crop, stunt the growth and significantly decrease overall yields.
    Here’s a 2 for 1 tip on Autos, for LST/Pruning
-When leafs reach outside of solo cup or container, from here you got about
30 days to train your plants.
For my photoperiods I usually transplant/up-pot 3x from seed and top/de leaf my plants multiple times throughout transplanting.
The solo cups gets topped once.
Then the 1/Gal gets topped 2-3 more times.
The 3/Gal gets topped 2-3 more times.
Then final 10/Gal gets topped & lollipoped
until it is ready to flower.
Depending on genetics growth habits/ceiling height and grow style.

Guru was right, though, airpots are kind of a PIA to water when dry, and it can run out the side holes if water in too fast.

    1) Do root ball autopsies - then - think about 2) Container size is relative to how much ceiling do you have... with a 12' foot ceiling you need bigger pots - but is a grow tent you have a much shorter space. You want a container that will be about 85% to 95% root ball and air pruned. I suggest doing some root ball autopsies right after a harvest. Dump it upside down and cut it in half from top to bottom and inspect your root structure your growth media, is it depleted and all gray? does it smell healthy and like living soil? Also you get a feel for how a root ball for the best plants should look and you will see some of your results from a different perspective. Just do it right after harvest. don't wait too long for the roots to start to die. This can maximize harvest and minimize waste. in my test grow tent I have a 4 x 8 I grow 6 plants at a time and 1 of each decoy plants Cilantro and a dwarf fig plant for IPM (plus free figs). I get anywhere from 3 oz to 3+lbs per plant - the strains make all the difference. The G-13 made colas big as my thighs and blew my mind. Thai made nice spiraled but elegant, thin and beautiful colas. it really depends on what the genetic potential of the plant is and what your BRIX levels are.

I have s few experiments going on,,4 autos in different size pots ,2 are in 4 gallon pots and look good , 2 are in 15 gallon pots and are incredible,,,next is 12 photos,,,3 different strains,,,and i need more room,( outdoor grow) all 15 gallon pots, never used this big a pot,,,scary good results,,hopefully they make it to harvest without riding the struggle bus 😮,,it could get messy😊

Definitely size up transplant 2twice for sure but 3 times most time. That’s with photos. Auto 1 up to 5gallon pot but only 4 gals of soil.
