    Shimano Talica 16 2speed. I have 4 of these reels, been using them for about a year now, braid on 2 of them and 30 mono on the other 2, due most of my fishing off Palm Beach and Jupiter, fishing been lousy but the reels are probably the best I've used. I have a torn bicep and don't have the power i use to have in my early years, but when I hook onto a large king, mahi-mahi, mutton, this reel just powers the catch in, unless I get sharked, lol. I use these reel both for trolling and deep drops bottom fishing, I'd like to bitch slap myself for wasting money on other reels. I was on a friends 70 ft sport fishing boat back in April, we were taking turns on your run of the mill so so conventional reels, where I hooked a Sail off of Breakers, Palm Beach but as I stated above due to my injury, I had to hand off the reel to my brother and take the verbal punishment. So long story short, I don't have this problem with my Talica 16 2 speed. I highly recommend this reel and the upper or lower sizes in this model.

      Amazing! I'm from west palm as well, shopping for reels, I think this one might do it :)

    It all depends on line capacity. Go with the one that holds the right amount of line. That being said, the 25 is the smoothest reel of that size that I have ever felt.

    Hi josh, great informative vids. I have a question for you. Inam in dilemma to pick between this talica or the daiwa saltiga ld40. Since you review both reel, which one would you choose between the two!? And why?
    Thank you

    I just got a talica 12II and I’m looking for a rod to pair it with. Was looking at the phenix Axis 7’2 XH .. will be doing some trolling, popping, live bait. What are your thoughts?

    Will this reel be good for bluefin in the 120# range ? Or should i look more into the talica 25 instead ?

      I went with the 16. I put 80 lb braid on it with fluoro leader. I think for most rail fishing this reel will be fine. I saw guys with Talica 8s reeling in large tuna. It just felt good and light on my Seeker Hercules XH. I haven't been spooled yet but the 25 does hold more line. You can go either way. They are very solid and work great. I got the 2 speed version.

    Hey josh lookin at the tacs can you do a review on the talica 20 2 speed can't find any videos on it also with that reel what would it be compared to size wise thanks

    • @jandhtackle
      @jandhtackle  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the same reels as the 25, just a narrower spool. I would go by line capacity to choose the right reel. They are really great. We have all sizes in stock.

    Can i use a talica or tyrnos 8 for big fresh water northern pike fishing. I need something durable with a uptide rod. No carbon rod. Any suggestions . I have no experience with reels, but they look durable. My spinning reel with carbon rod are not bumb proof. Guiding line Rings brake easly during transport.
    Any suggestions from reel fishers.

    • @jandhtackle
      @jandhtackle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are heavy reels. If you're going to drop that amount of money, get an Accurate Boss Valiant.

    • @africantwin173
      @africantwin173 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jandhtackle im located in EU. No US, AUS tackle here. The reason for swithing is that most rods are made from carbon these days. And are not durable anymore during transport. The same goes for the spinning reels. I thought , lets get a small glass fiber uptide rod that has durable rings on it with a small shimano durable reel on it. I shall dig a little deeper into the reel world and glass fiber rods. Thanks.

    Which would be the best rod to pair this reel for trolling chunking and jigging? Also would you put 80 lb maxcuatro on this?

    • @jandhtackle
      @jandhtackle  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jaime caballero I like a Shimano Terez 7' H or XH. The Maxcuatro would be a good choice. www.jandh.com/shimano-terez-casting-rods.html

    • @jaimecaballero2577
      @jaimecaballero2577 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jandhtackle why did you choose 7' ? For cast ability? I checked the terez in your website, would like a XH but can you tell me the pros and cons between the 7' XH, 6'6" XH and 5'9" XH with slick butt? Do you guys ship to Panama? Thank you for time.

    • @jandhtackle
      @jandhtackle  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jaime caballero I just prefer 7' rods. The 6'6" would work just fine. You don't need a slick butt for what you are doing. It just makes the rod heavier. It's very expensive for us to ship to Panama.
