Ham Radio operation during International Fleet Review

In 2016, an International Fleet Review was conducted in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. To facilitate communication across various locations during the event, the administration sought the assistance of ham radio operators. They collaborated to organize communication stations using high-frequency and very high-frequency base stations, as well as walkie-talkies, to relay messages from one site to another on a weekly basis.
A total of 23 radio operators from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana volunteered their services and brought their own equipment to participate in the event. Despite facing various challenges and sacrificing their personal comforts, they provided exceptional service, earning accolades and appreciation from both government officials and the public. This operation generated significant interest and enthusiasm for ham radio.
Many attendees inquired about this activity and expressed a desire to join, so they could participate in similar events in the future.
