  • Here I’m just showing a quick video on why rigid floors might not be the best option for uneven subfloors.

Thank you very much for sharing this short video, you have allayed my fears. I have an uneven floor that can't be levelled with any kind of filler due to the nature of the adjoining rooms (long story) and I wanted some kind of wooding floor instead of carpet. Now I am confident that LVP should work for me. Brilliant, thanks guys !

Can you tell me the product name of the vinyl plank LVP you used on your uneven floor video please? Is it glued down? Home Depot has a product called Allure Contact which has good ratings. It's peel and stick, which I'm thinking may be better on uneven floors. Thx for your reply.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, that is Fuzion Smart Drop - Onyx. It's a Loose Lay LVP - but we always do recommend to glue it down with a pressure sensitive adhesive. Be careful with the Peel and Stick floors, you have to make sure that you clean the floor extremely well prior to installation, and I'd run a damp towel over it to catch any extra dust/debris. Just wait until the floor dries completely before installing!

Thanks so much for this video. My den has uneven concrete and I wasn't sure what to do. I've leveled out the significant areas but it's not perfect. Is that glue down or peel and stick?

Glue down all the way. I have never found a peel & stick that stays down.

How about linoleum? I have a very old house, the subfloor is uneven, there's lino already on the floor but it's old, stained and scratched. I'm thinking of covering it with more lino or even peel and stick vinyl.

Following! I have the same issue and am looking into the same thing for a temporary fix until I have the money to hopefully get the issue fixed but for now would just like to have the floor look more appealing. 😭

The problem with linoleum is the same thing some people like about it- it's cheap and it's soft. Always spend the extra bucks and get vinyl if you want to enjoy the floors. Just my two cents

Well, I assume you're talking sheet vinyl? Where it has a later of vinyl and then is paper or foam backing? Or is it actual linoleum, which is a solid material made from linseed and needs to be waxed or sealed every few years? Assuming that it's the former - as long as the existing floor is adhered well (not peeling up or coming loose) then a quick layer of floor patch, and you can go overtop.
Don't use peel and stick - I have yet to find one that lasts. The stick just doesn't. ;)

Ive got one section of flooring that is crowned 3/8-1/2" over a 6ft span. Would this work for that level of variation?

I would ask your local store to give you a couple of planks. Then you can lay them down and see!

What about the hard rigid core LVP?

Luxury Vinyl Plank. Just means that they are individual boards/planks (as opposed to sheet vinyl, aka lino)

    Hi,
I am in Australia and the only renown brand of Vinyl i can find is Karndean. Is it any good?
Should I get the Karndean Click Lock (Korlok) or the Looselay to glue down?
Many people say the glue downs shrink and get gaps in between them. But Click ons can also have issues. I want something durable for tenants but stylish.
    THANKS!

@bec bec i ended up getting quickstep impressive ultra laminate. So far so good. Looks amazing. And is supposedly water resistant enough for the kitchen. Just cant have a puddle of water for more than 24 hours

Good afternoon! The one that's rocking back and forth is the laminate. And the other which is conforming is the 5mm lvp.

Wow. I've been struggling with a hump in my 100 YO kitchen for years. Nothing structural at isse but stoll needs to be eorked around.. Hate sheet vinyl but always thought it was my only option. Just about time to replace it and I'm so excited to think 5mm lvp might be possible. Have lvp in other rooms and LOVE it! Thank you!
