Kinda ironic how the UK Transformers comic jokes about a bus transformer being a ridiculous alt mode, when two of the franchise’s main villains transform into a pistol and a cassette player.
It's rather interesting how Transit gained such a following. It's also mind-blowing how the bus is among the vehicles never fully utilized for Transformers characters. It makes perfect sense, given how common buses are. Much like farm equipment.
@@transformerallstar2051 sure, but Bonecrusher got NINE toys out of it. Characters show up just once all the time, there's like a billion transformers characters they can't all be mainstays

Transit is such a cool concept for a character. Taking such an unassuming alt mode and having it turn into a monstrous and insectoid looking decepticon really works for me. I’d love to see him in the future. That scene absolutely should have been cut though, prime comes off as super aggressive.
Yet unfortunately he was super aggressive in other parts of the movie, too. The live action franchise hasn't treated Optimus Prime properly beyond his appearances in Transformers (2007) and Bumblebee (2018). Perhaps instead of deleting Transit's scene altogether, they could have rewritten it and toned it down.
He’s basically the Barricade for this generation, if you think of it; Nowadays the awareness of police brutality is much more common, but back in the day the heroic police car being a villain in disguise was quite the subversion to a naive child not yet aware of the realities of the world, for many in the audience were such kids.
I've always wanted them to do more "unconventional" alt modes. Nowadays it's always a military vehicle, motorcycle or "super ultra high-end deluxe concept sports car" (especially in the movies); or when it comes to animals it's always stuff like 1 of 5 different types of dinosaurs, dragon, or big cat. Where's all the weird stuff like jellyfish, zebras, telehandlers or monster trucks? That's something I really enjoy with the old Beast Wars (and sequels) stuff, they got unusual ones like Mach Kick, Retrax, or Injector. Even if the toys themselves were pretty crap even back then, the ideas were fun and fresh.
Givin' that back in G1 we had bots that became random objects like sound decks and a camera we need a new kind of unconventional these days. Closest we got to that is Twitch from Earthspark who becomes a drone.
There is a monster truck Transformer, found in the G1 Micromaster toy line, and in two of the live action films, they had an RC monster truck named Wheelie.

Truly he is dedicated to what he does and his videos continue to impress me (though I admit there are a few theories he makes that I honestly don't agree with like Blackout and Grindor being one and the same.)
I feel like the original Transit opening scene in the movie could have been reworked into the final cut. They could have removed the opening monologue from Prime and immediately cut to the whole transit scene after Elena starts messing around with the transwarp key and cutting back to Elena after Optimus kills Transit where we see the key emit the beam into the sky. From there we could see Optimus dump Transit into the lake before turning around and seeing it.
So weird hearing a Basics episode talk about stuff that isn't ancient history! Instead of learning about some fanclub stuff from before I was born, I'm seeing stuff that happened on Twitter like a few months ago.

I can imagine Transit explaining his alt mode to Megatron. "We need to think outside the box in how to deal with the Autobots' fleshling allies. It shouldn't be about how many we can eradicate at once, but how many we can *inconvenience* over time by making them late for work!" And yes, public transit is my main means of ground transportation.

8 minutes ago, I didn't even know this guy existed. Now he's my most anticipated toy of 2024. Absolutely love the concept! I know Americans love their cars, but as a european I do like me some public transport…
Same for me, but I saw the name and tail lights on his thighs, and asked aloud; is he a bus? YES! They should've kept in the movie and given how long busses stay in service and the year of the movie; he should've been an older bus, like a GMC RTS, and have an air starter. As much as I like Optimus; Transit would sound so much better going down the road with that screaming Jimmy the RTS had.
See I think the idea of a bus alt mode is pretty neat specifically because of how unassuming it is and to be honest? A bus themed decepticon of all things just plain amuses me. The Transit scene was really cool, but I think it was absolutely the right decision to cut it - it only would've worked as the opening scene, and the prologue on the Maximals' planet was definitely the more important one.
Cutting Transit from Rise of the Beasts was a smart decision since the Decepticons don’t know that Earth exists or where it is in the rebooted movie universe so it would be a continuity error for them to be sending Decepticons soldiers to Earth, and it also doesn’t make sense for them to be sending them one by one instead of a full blown army.
I like that this year's OCM was all ones with ties to 2023 specifically, 2 getting new figures, one appearing in the newest movie, and one intended to appear in it.
The Machine Robo bus was launched here, in Brazil, by a toy company called Mimo, in their collection called Convert, along with several other Machine Robo. This company shared the Machine Robo license with Glasslite, which had the Mutantes. But only Mimo had the bus.
The most obscure transformation I’ve ever seen till this day is a traffic light. For those I don’t know, it was from the Transformer Cybertron series. The characters name was Signal Lancer, and make a few appearances in his alt mode, talking to another autobot refugee. Whose alt mode was a payphone. What made him memorable to me was when he finally transformed into his robot mode. Even though his transformation sequence was similar to the shows version of Mudflap. In fact, someone even made an unofficial remodel using a Mudflap toy to create their own Signal Lancer. Maybe he’ll get an official legacy toy and Chris could talk about him.
I do get why they cut the scene, but man I love the design, and since I actually rode NYC buses in the era when the film takes place it would be super nostalgic for me to have one. I hope we get him in studio series!
I also saw a interview were Steven Caple Jr. talked about cutting the scene because of the end of the Bumblebee movie. In the end they prevented that the Cons now the location of the Autobots and it didn't felt right that the first scene in the continuation showed us the end of Bumblebee had no impact.
I used to love reading Robo Capers! I'd completely forgotten about the bus robot until you mentioned it here - that's an amusing memory to suddenly have back :) Think he also did Combat Colin, which was of course equally silly.
Back in High School I had my own concept of a school bus transformer. Never settled on a name however I depicted him as a rock climbing sniper, who would use chains with hooks at the ends (because buses in my area had hooks on the back for towing) to scale heights and get a good vantage point to use his tail pipe sniper rifle. His archnemesis was Mindwipe who sought to brainwash Earth's kids to be Decepticon sympathizers when they grew up, and the Bus's sniper skills meant he could stay out of Mindwipe's range.
1:58 Transformers Decepticons was my favorite game for the DS. My first introduction to transformers as a kid. The story was incredible, and showed the ideology of the Decepticons. I’m happy to see it mentioned on this channel!
I would’ve thought if a transformer was a bus, that they’re robot mode would’ve been larger than a normal transformer since a bus is much larger than cars and trucks.
I wonder if there was a decision was made to exclude the available mass transit toy vehicles from the American toy lines? Tonka not taking on the Bus Robo for Go Bots and Hasbro not using Raiden in Transformers...
My hunch is that American media and society in general doesn’t place nearly as much stock in public transportation over personal vehicles like cars, as opposed to Japan where trains and similar mass transit vehicles are more commonplace and integral to culture.
I find it humorous that there’s so little to talk about with Transit that Chris has to spend the first half of the video talking about the entire history of bus transformers and it’s *still* a shorter video than usual.
I feel like for how obscure he is with different designs it would be interesting if he has a special T-cog that allows him to change the appearance of what bus he is(school, public, prison etc) as well as having chameleon kibble to match to make it interesting.
There's clearly plenty of vehicles and animals that can still make good alternate forms which we haven't seen. Personally since Hasbro is doing crossovers they should do the Nautilus.
I love that you acknowleged that Transit has become a meme in the TF community😂😂😂 "Also the idea that robots being mundane vehichles would be boring" sounds a bit ironic
Honestly, I'd never heard of this character until ROTB release and saw the name bandied about in various comments sections. I've been a fan of TF since my childhood, but I'm still always pleasantly surprised by McFeely's videos and eager to learn about more characters whether they by obscure or not.
Trying to remember the name of the book series but there is a character in a children's novel series called OmniBus who turns into a school bus. He is a stand in/homage to the G1 Optimus Prime toy and serves as transportation. The book series is about a stuffed animal going to an academy that trains toys how to be toys and also fights evil.
I feel like there is a seriously lot opportunity in most of these bus bots having normal blocky robot modes when you could have something tall and lanky with the seats studding their exterior. You know, showing that most of the city bus volume is hollow space for people. Heck, maybe they were the equivalent of a taxi back on Cybertron and have come to appreciate having many passengers doing the daily commute instead of just a few. Oh, and seatbelts on this bus.
*_REALLY_* hoping he gets to be in a future Transformers movie! Such a great character design deserves better than just… not being used *_AT ALL!_* If not, then at least let him show up in whatever the next Transformers *_SHOW_* ends up being, even just for a brief appearance!
@@awesomeproductions7755 destroyed it to leave you with no possible chance of escape, you’ll never see Cybertron again you will die here on this miserable planet
You know, it's funny. For a while, I had the same thought about how there aren't any Transformers that turn into a bus and wondered what that would look like. Definitely didn't expect to see one in that deleted scene.
As someone who got into fortnite for optimus prime and hasn’t been free since, the battlebus skin is probably the best transformers skin design next to prime and primal. Because they didn’t have to adhere to any particular look like bumblebee and megatron (my issue being they are too streamlined and too compromised respectively
I did not know Transit and being a bus had been used before the cut scenes from the movie. Excellent job. Would love to see him and Stratosphere get figures down the line.
You mean to tell me The Rise of Beasts originally would have opened with Optimus Prime trying to catch a bus? Or more accurately a bus tried to catch him?
I'm surprised a bus transformer was never made. Seems like a good idea, I'd had even made it like multiple transformers too. Like says 3 mini transformers come together to become the bus kind if thing.
I've no idea what the test screen audience were thinking. Seeing Optimus's frustrations about the destroyed ship and killing Transit out of anger would have made his motives more tangible. We're told in the final film why Optimus isn't acting like his usual self but the rule for movies is "show don't tell" so I would've loved this scene. Besides how tf is Transit dying dark but Scourge having his head and spine ripped out not? XD
A decepticon would turn into a bus and blast the CrazyBus theme just to mess with humans without having to lay a finger on them. Think about it: A vehicle as mundane as a bus is perfect for a robot going incognito on earth, this also allows them to earn trust of the local life forms. An autobot prankster might honk the horn once while no one's inside just to prank the crew fixing him up, a decepticon bus will effectively, be almost invisible to anyone that doesn't have cybertronian scanners. When given the orders from higher-ups, he'll attack with a sonic screech (the aftermentioned CrazyBus theme at full blast).

I used to love reading Robo Capers! I'd completely forgotten about the bus robot until you mentioned it here - that's an amusing memory to suddenly have back :) Think he also did Combat Colin, which was of course equally silly.
John DiMaggio as Transit was perfect, because ending up on a bus after a bender is pretty common
“Bite my shiny metal ass, Prime!”
Seatbelts everyone
Please let this be a regular basics video
With the chris? NO WAY!
The bus destination display on his face in concept art is so cool!
I am so happy seeing McFeely mention the 2007 DS game, such a gem.
Did not expect him to be a ‘Con. Bus alt-mode instantly screams Autobot to me.
Single-handedly, the greatest the basics video of all time!
and I haven't even seen it yet!
(I stayed up all night waiting)
How obscure can you make it when you have a full episode on a character so far never truly used. :D
I would’ve thought if a transformer was a bus, that they’re robot mode would’ve been larger than a normal transformer since a bus is much larger than cars and trucks.
Chris mentioning Fortnite in any of his videos was not something i ever expected.
I think a school bus or a city bus or both as transformers characters is a cool idea and hope we see one in figure form
I really do hope Studio Series does make a figure of Transit and I wonder if he’ll be a Voyager or Leader Class figure?
Probably Leader, he is seen to be taller than Optimus
A character with some much depth and such a legendary status that they cut him out of ROTB cause the public was just not ready
I feel like for how obscure he is with different designs it would be interesting if he has a special T-cog that allows him to change the appearance of what bus he is(school, public, prison etc) as well as having chameleon kibble to match to make it interesting.
I thought that Transit was just a new character. Thank you for bringing us the history behind the legend.
There's clearly plenty of vehicles and animals that can still make good alternate forms which we haven't seen. Personally since Hasbro is doing crossovers they should do the Nautilus.
If they are branching out in the Studio Series with concept characters than there’s hope for Flatline.
Flatline?

I love that you acknowleged that Transit has become a meme in the TF community😂😂😂
"Also the idea that robots being mundane vehichles would be boring" sounds a bit ironic
I love finding out about characters I never heard about before. Now I want to see him in an actual show or movie.
A super review! And I cannot wait for the toy of him next year! Happy holidays!
I hope Three zero makes transit a DLX figure with lights. Oh man that would be AWESOME
Update: series is called Toy Academy
Every time you enunciate "BUS" I am enthralled.

7:18 THAT HIT ME LIKE A FUCKING BUS
THE WAY HE SAYS FORTNITE AND BATTLEBUS SO PROFESSIONALLY I CANNOT
Dang didn’t expect the fortnite camo of the battle bus also great video
I was proper disappointed that transit was cut from the movie, as a bus driver I was looking forward to the figure to come out 😂
You know, it's funny.
😆 funny the way you put it lol
Idk why they kept scraping him, he looks like a pretty cool bot. Probably gonna add him to my favorites list. The rhino head version also looked cool.
I just realized how many transformer characters we got in 7 movies
Both Transit & Rampage better get toys in Studio series. They were robbed of such great stardom & fame.
Great video Chris. Now I want a bus transformer! And merry Christmas!
The biggest disappointment of this year was there being no transit toy or transit scene in ROTB
XD
Hearing chris talk about fortnite and the battlebus bot felt like a fever dream
Hello there Chris McFeely and fellow Transformers fans of this channel. I do apologize for the tardiness of this comment, but I was a bit busy today, while this video was posted. Anyways, I just wanted to say that this video was absolutely amazing . I never really heard of this character before just because he was never in an animated series or comic book that I read and I honestly found this information to be absolutely great.
Anyways thank you so much for creating and posting this totally awesome video. In addition I would like to wish everyone in the community a safe and happy holiday season that has tons of joy and memories with good friends and family too. Until next time, when all are one. Peace Out and Maximize.
Merry Christmas Chris McFeely🎄😇🎄
That deleted scene where OP and Transit fight is one of the most Bayformers scenes ever.
May he rest in the arms of an angel. Hope to see you in Transformers One my dear Transit
Transit has been found in one piece of merchandise that I know of. A calendar uses transit's image for one month.
I thought for sure I was going to have to bring up the bus form from Transformers Autobots on DS myself, but no, you got it.
Such a shame transits scene got cut due to a test audience if anything Scourge’s death was much darker than transits maybe one day Transit will make a main character appearance in the future
It's really mind boggling, for the amount and diversity of Transformers alt modes, the number of robots in disguise with a bus alt mode is still zero.
How is it posible that they had an entire series of Transformers going to school and did not include a School Bus Transformer as a teacher
Right lol
Rba chars could just, umm...traverse to school?
Huge oversight to not include a bus for nearly 30 years. Haha
I always wanted a city bus and a diesel train combiner
(Thank you for doing this)
Watching the views and likes go up at the same time as watching your great video reminds me how much of a huge culture we all belong too, thank you Chris :) :) :)
Wow... Just wow... ... This is an episode I was so sure would never happen 😅
I love December on your channel because of obscure videos
