Half of the G&G&RE staff I work with here in Houston are Venezuelan exiles. Some of the most fantastically talented and genuinely nice people I have worked with. The industry there holds so much promise if the political situation ever improves.
Absolutely spot on....Of course if a Superpower has a hand on the spigot then nothing flows, but at least some recent easing of sanctions by the big hand means that a little more Oil can now flow.
Politics can't be ignored and sanctions have had a major effect. But this situation remains unresolved after decades of decline. It's the people of Venezuela who are suffering - but the resources are there to get the economy moving. Naive? I guess so. It's just too sad........
Completely agree, of course it is no coincidence that while Oil/Gas Production (and infrastructure) has disintegrated in places like Venezuela, US production of Fracked Oil and Gas has rocketed. @@TROVE-1stSubsurface
I don't know the basis on which EIA derive their figures. Boundary claims seem to take hold when regions uncover new wealth & resources. It happens the world over. Sadly.

I agree. Some very smart and very pleasant people. I hope the politics can improve the standard of living of the people of Venezuela soon. Let's hope!

I have a question, does this reserves include the territory in dispute of the Essequibo? Venezuela alone claims is theirs, but it is 60% of Guyana

Would highly recommend getting in touch with Andres.
