  • Enjoy this walking tour of the Ellis Island Historical Immigration Center, where I explore the history of the island and all its wonders. Ellis Island was a gateway to the United States for over 12 million immigrants, and is considered both part of New York and New Jersey.
The Statue Cruises ferry is currently the only way to get onto Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Don't fall to scams by ticket sellers claiming to go to the Statue of Liberty!

Hello, my name is Laura. I visited NY back in 1979. I was 33 at that time . Just about to graduate from nursing school. I loved New York so very much. I saw as much as I could and have revisited once only. I was able to see Ellis Island in 1979 it was open but not renovated yet. It was just a relic from the last to come here. It was in very bad shape but you were allowed to go as you please anywhere. It was like a ghost town. I want to thank you for doing these videos. I loved seeing Ellis all repaired and back to her old glory . I think the hospital is still unrepaired? Thank you very much. I’m now 74 and with not too much time left but it’s been wonderful to go back in my memories to see NY . Of course back in 79 see was still recovering. All your videos walks in all seasons helps me imagine me there. I’m too frail now to visit again . I tell myself I will go back one last time to East Coast in fall. But I probably won’t. So thank you for making some of my dreams come true virtually. Wishing you all the best in all your endeavors. Thank you again. Laura

OMG! I should have known that you had a great video of this historic place! This is where I'm going to visit next year. My grandmother emmigrated here with my mom, who was just 5 years old, in 1949. I want to visit to somewhat know what that part of their journey was like. I still remember the story my grandmother told me about how she took my mom to the 🗽Statue of Liberty, and they made it all the way to you crown, and my mom thew up there. 🤭 I wish they both were still alive so we could go there together and I could hear more about their experiences there. Sadly, I didn't think to do that until now. 😌
They did live for a time in NYC, I couldn't tell you where exactly because I never thought to ask. So much of my personal history has been lost because I didn't think to ask. 🙆🏻‍♀️
    Thanks so much for this!

Actually it was a little bit too big for me to finish everything. There was still a section of the museum I missed and the boat was leaving soon!

Every ocean liner that's ever existed has been docked here at some point. I'm talking ships the likes of Olympic, Lusitania, Mauritania, and Queen Mary

I visited in March of 2019 with my Theatre class, several months later my grandfather gave me old letters and albums his mother made before she died, and I learned about my great grandparents. My paternal great grandfather was a Russian Jew, he came here with his family as a small child. He died when my grandfather was only 9. Unfortunately I didn't really get to see much of what was in this video, but I really wish I had, we only really had time to look around for 20 minutes and eat lunch.

I really DID NPOT KNOW, about Ellis IslaND, that it was b urned down in 1897. And there was that scene in "The Godfather 2" in which young Don Vito Corleone went thru Ellis IslaND as a ten [or so] yeaR old boy.
