I ❤ how you won't kill anything !! I take spiders outside, rescue bugs in the cat water, never disturb spider webs and like you rescue tadpoles ! 😁 I have 3 regular pond forms surrounded by elephant ears, cyprus, and rush. Never thought of a bathtub hmmmmmm. Love yours ! ❤❤❤
I love hearing that lol! I just took a spider outside the other day. 💕 Speaking of elephant ears, I may plant one beside mine to add some shade. I had an elephant ear one time that the leaves were so big like an umbrella. I'm not sure what happened to it but something made the root rot and I hated that because it was beautiful !
Well ty ! I appreciate you watching and I will always save everything that i possibly can. I try to keep everything fair as well. We haven't had rain where I live for days so I was out watering my plants and I have plants in the front, back , and just all around my land. I got tired when I got down to the last four or five plants and I almost didn't water them and then I started feeling guilty and bad because I was leaving then out so what's a woman to do ? Lol I watered those plants too!
Ty I am very glad you enjoyed my video and I will definitely take that into consideration next time because it makes sense considering there is a lot of dust in those bags. Ty
I have a few ponds, various locations. I put mosquito minnows in them. I get small bales of barley off Amazon to help keep the water clear. Another thing that keeps them clear is plant cover. I've never layered the bottom but have various items in there for that purpose. This was a great example and explanation. Subsciribed.
Thanks so much for that. I honestly have never heard of mosquito minnows. Where would I purchase those? I really appreciate the insight. Ty for watching this video

I have been looking at ways to build a little pond with waterfalls. I have a 4 ft Lowes waterfall on the porch. I also have a nice sloping yard. I am going to do what you did but add 6 ft creek between them since I have the room and natural slop. Thanks, just what I was needing. Love the video.
I'm so excited I found this!!! It's so pretty, I love this!!! Could I do this on top of the ground using rocks to build around it and lay the pond liner on the ground and over the rocks? I want one of these ponds so bad!!! I can't dig any more so I'm looking for a way to have this pond. Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated!!
I am very glad you like it and ty! You can do that or it may be easier for you to get bags of sand and don't open the bags. Leave them whole and mound them in the shape you want and then add liner. Just make sure you pour some sand under the liner before adding to help keep grasses out and for extra liner protection. I really hope that helps. Let me know how it turns out
@@EdurtreG speaking of the Netherlands I saw a video of some people cooking in the Netherlands not long ago in a remote village and it looked so beautiful and the children looked so happy ❤️
@@marlothomas2963 I started to but then I thought well It shouldn't matter because I want dirt and sand in there but After I done it I wished that i had done that and if I could add to the video I would tell everyone to rinse it first. One thing I done a couple of days later was I ran alot of fresh water in there , running it till it overflowed. Now it looks clear and you can see the sandy bottom real good. Thanks for watching ❤️
The pond liner I put in mine is a 7x10 ft and you can order it on Amazon for 20.00. I would not do bags because they will not last. The one on Amazon and like the one I used is a real thick mil and is a good one for the price. They have them the same size at Lowe's and home Depot but they are 50.00
It would actually work great for ducks and I say that because of ducks not being like fish as far as changing the water. Being that you can always add chlorine water when needed to refresh it . If I didn't have dogs I would have already got myself a couple of ducks! But you can definitely do a bucket the same way if that's what you prefer. If you do a bucket and want a pump then all you need is a small solar pump which you can purchase at Amazon, wish,or alot of online sites have them very affordable.
@@GardenPondRecreations thanks so much!! I am fortunate that my dog (border collie) loves watching the ducks 🦆 I will give a small pond a try first, maybe by my milkweed patch. I already bought a beautiful lily pad that is supposed to survive my cold winters
If you don't mind me asking where did you get the lily pad? In the areas I live i can never find them . I managed to find one at Lowe's but I haven't had a lot of luck with them
@@GardenPondRecreations I got it at Menards for $20 (I’m in WI). I’ve also seen them at a large plant nursery for a lot more. I can check the brand and get back to you, maybe you could find them online
Yes if you don't mind doing that , I would greatly appreciate it. I wanted to get some lilies started before I ever put fish in again becaud I have so many large birds around that can spot them.
@@davidtodd3435 it's funny that you mentioned that because just the other day I was scrolling through the channels and I came across a video that said something about a frog hotel and at that moment I didn't have time to watch it but was planning on going back to it at a later time. So thanks for reminding me. That being said, when I was a child we use to mound thick mud and clay around our hands and pack it . Then we would slowly pull our hand out and we would call those frog houses and believe it or not, I went out the next day and saw frogs in them lol. Not every time, but a couple of times that did happen.
It needs at least six hrs of sunlight and make sure to plant marigolds around it or add pots of marigolds. If you look in my video you will see them around my pond. The deter mosquitos and they attract dragon flies which eat mosquitos. I always make sure to keep plenty not only just around my pond but all throughout my yard because they work well. Hope that helps
Put a surface moving circulation pump in the pond and mosquitoes won’t lay eggs, they prefer still water. Can also buy mosquito dunks and control the mosquitoes biologically.
@@cesberryu.9193 it is clear now that it has sit and settled but I recommend if you want it more clear from the beginning to wash the sand and rocks first which I did not do and if you thoroughly watch the video you will see all of that and hear me talking about the water being merky. The pond walls are to steep. The liner should not be stretched but lay loose. Nice try.
I added two ft of sand and rock in it plus it is bathtub that has a step in it so yes it is nice ty
Also if you go look at the ponds at home Depot and Lowe's it's no steeper than their ponds so nice try for them too huh???
