I have to try one of those Arcane pickups soon. I've been eyeballing the Mr. Scary... but now that I hear your strat, the Brownbucker is in the bucketlist as well!
I've had a couple of the lower tier SG's (two SGJ models, a Faded and a Special - the gloss version of the faded)....they are affordable, straight to the point rock machines. Great guitars!
Jeff Kollman is one of the finest guitar players ever, but a criminally underrated musician. His tone is top-notch, and he is melodic and musical, and also can play ferocious riffs and full shred solos. What a musician!!!
Never heard of this guy,but his tone is the best I’ve heard on all of your rig rundowns!!! Including some of my favorite players!! Just so big and biting tone! 🏆👍🏽
The most underrated guitar player ever! His band Cosmosquad and his solo records are really inspiring and amazing. His tone is right up there with Andy Timmons and Eric Johnson in my humble opinion. It was about time that this guy had his Rig Rundown video.
I saw AlanParsons Project in 97, I believe it was their 1st tour. And grew up on their (his) music since birth. Not even counting the Floyd and Beatles and other Abbey Road Projects. Alan is a legend
Wow! What fantastic playing! I had wondered who played guitar for Parsons. It always sounded excellent on his recordings. Kollman's playing is wonderful, whether or not he played on the recordings I particularly like. Parsons really selected a great player! Great sounding, creative, interesting, and no reliance on meaningless shredding. And he uses the volume pedal just the way I've always wished I could use it. Wonderful control over sustain and feedback. Best wishes to him! And thanks for posting this.
Kollman is a beast! Kills at everything he does. I was lucky enough to catch a small club show with the Meatbats, and it was fantastic to watch him work up close. A favorite, for sure. Check out Cosmosquad, solo stuff, Edwin Dare, Bombastic Meatbats and Mogg/Way’s Chocolate Box.
I think everyone who is using digital modeling as a rig and claiming it sounds like this should have to watch this and listen and then listen to their rig rundown! lol 100 watt tube head and 412, grown man rig!! 💪🏽
Make no mistake though, amp modelers have their place on any stage. All a matter of preference and what serves the band, musician, overall mix and sound.
I think most of us git-fiddlers agree with this. And many of us use tube amps where we can. I also realise that some gigs (whether the arrangements, the need for night-on-night consistency, the ease of portability, set up and tear down, or the venue’s rules) require a different set up, and the modelling option allows those gigs to go ahead. I run two tube amps wet/dry at every opportunity, but I bought a Quad Cortex for those other situations. It’s great fun, as well as offering the option of switching to multiple FX and amp options that I don’t own (and I’m lucky to own a bunch of amps and pedals). I’ve been working on hybrid options to get both worlds: stereo out to FOH and mono out, minus the cab sim, to a power amp and real guitar cab behind me on stage, to preserve the feel of playing an amp. Some people want / have to use IEMs, so modelling works. I will champion real amps forever, and I don’t prescribe to the “audience won’t know the difference” argument, because it’s also about what I can hear and feel; but it’s good to have options.
@@onenotesolo256 The debate isn’t if modelers can work, we all know they can and do, I still use my Ax8 on small gigs, my issue with them is you will never get the tone he’s getting here on stage, because it’s two different animals, I always miss my real amps when I have to use digital rigs, you can’t unhear the sound of a good 100 watt head and 412 or 212 cab on stage turned once you’ve used it, everything else is a compromise. It’s a blessing to be able to use a rig like this in 2024! 👍🏽
I’m a dummy who’s running a modeler into a tiny Class-D amp into a 4x12. My trusty JMP 2203 hasn’t been turned on in a while. The quad cortex does a really great job through a guitar cab.
I had to go back and look at the date of this video again, when he started talking about “kids” getting a reasonably priced Gibson SG and not having to spend $5,000 for a custom shop. Last I checked, non custom Shop Gibson SG’s ranged from around $1,700 to $2,400? Anyway, great tones on those flavors of drive. Really suprised chorus is not his thing, as I’d think Parson’s tunes have some chorus.
ok, the SG was kinda cool sounding and good riffs, but the strat sounded epic to me, especially his playing on it. very woody as he says with very clear string definition. I had a JCM2000 years ago, can't say i ever really loved it, but this amp sounds great to me.
My great friend Jeff Marshall is helping us out filling in. I’m still in the band but I had prior commitments for a 2 month Japan tour. I’ll resume the shows in 2025
First time I heard Jeff was with Edwin Dare in the 90s. If anyone hasn't heard the Cant Break Me album, check it out. It has some of the best guitar playing of that decade.

Some of the best tone I’ve ever heard on the channel, what a player!!
The bridge pickup in the '59 surf green Strat is an Arcane Brownbucker.
Dude your tone is the amazing

He's right at the top with Jeff Beck
Never heard of Jeff Kollman. What an articulate, self-effacing, witty guy, and a great guitar player too. Good one, John!
check out his band Cosmosquad and Chad smith and the Bombastic meatbatssss
Jeff is an absolute beast of a player ! Criminally underrated ! Thx PG for this awesome rundown
Jeff is one of my favs…not only a monster player but he absolutely has the tone of the gods👍
Wow. That tone is amazing. He’s an insanely clean player as well
Yeah, he's a master!
No kidding!
This guy has the best licks I've heard on Rig Rundown. He hurried us through through the rig but worth it to hear all those distortion textures.
Never heard of this guy,but his tone is the best I’ve heard on all of your rig rundowns!!! Including some of my favorite players!! Just so big and biting tone! 🏆👍🏽
Check out mogg/way chocolate box, awesome stuff!
Thank you.
He was a band with chad smith and player with glenn hughes too .
Amazing guitar player
Jeff is a badass! Been a fan for a long time. And he’s an Ohio guy (Toledo). Those long cold Northern Ohio winters make for some great guitar players.
I've known Jeff since his Toledo, Ohio days w Mark Mikel; have seen him live a couple times; glad to see him here 🎸
Jeff is a monster, his No Guitar Is Safe episode is a must-listen
The Greg Koch impression was spot on 👍. Great rig rundown!
As a older guitar hobbyist and I really love guitars and guitar players thank you for introducing me to this excellent find young guitarist❤
His work in Edwin Dare is phenomenal
JEFF KOLLMAN IS THE MAN, SO HAPPY HE IS ON PG
Every guitar sounded wonderfully balanced to me, string to string and pickup to pickup .
The most underrated guitar player ever! His band Cosmosquad and his solo records are really inspiring and amazing. His tone is right up there with Andy Timmons and Eric Johnson in my humble opinion. It was about time that this guy had his Rig Rundown video.
Yeah, he's the real deal! It was a blast to do the video with him.
buy anything with Jeff on it. You will NEVER be disappointed!
Nice rig rundown. enjoyed it!
Yeah one of my favorite bands when I was a kid. Jeff is a great addition & he rips while still sounding so soulful and tasteful❤🎸🏁
Jeff IS The Man! A Tone Monster and my favorite Guitar Player on the Planet over the past 15+ Years! He's INSTANTLY recognizable !
Jeff is amazing. Some of his stuff with Sign of Four completely blew my fragile little mind. He's just a force of nature.
He's got fantastic tone in that opening bit. Love APP.
Most underrated guitar player ever! Glad he’s still rocking!
Blimey, Brilliant guitarist 🎸, enjoyed that👌
Love a rundown with all the jamming thrown right in there.
Jeff Kollman is an amazing player! For those who don't know him, listen to his solo record "Schizoid" from 1990 and to his band Cosmosquad!
jeff has been a good influence, like his tone and playing very much!
Greetings from germany!
The strat sound is so unique and gorgeous ❤
Absolutely stellar tone man!
Jeff, you always sound amazing!

Loved this group when I was in HS way back in 1976.
Bowsher
8:46 a terrific Mansquatch impression if only 'cos he nailed Greg's grandiose lyrical prose lol
sweet rig & his tones are so good love the feedback at will -
Amazing player with incredible tone(s). MONSTER!
Jeff is a complete badass! What a player! Damn.
Cosmosquad!!!!!! Amazing fusion band .
Sweet rig! I've seen APLP a couple of times - they always sound great.
Great stuff. I agreed with almost everything he said regarding setup and lowish output pickups
His tone is sublime!

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Jeff is a real talent.
I've never even heard of Jeff! What a dude!! Quoting Accept will always score you points in my book...that Les Paul is sick for sure!
I liked very much the tone with strato😍
Toledo proud! Keep it going Holmes!

Dude had some crazy good sounds coming out of that Marshall!! Dialed in perfectly
Yes! It's always fun to watch someone who can really make the gear sing!
Such a character and cool player!
The first time I heard Jeff Kollman was on his own song, "The X Factor". I've been a fan ever since. Amazing player!
Super cool guy great sound love the EVH drop my hero we all love Edward I bet his rig sounds awsome live!!
Jeff, where have you been all my life come to Toronto?❤
The best tone in earth! But the secret is his hands!!! :P

The one and only . If you don't love Jeff you are completely wrong. And forget Parsons, Cosmosquad is the thing.
Jeff is a monster player! The Meatbats killed at the Baked Potato, back in the day! One of the best live tones I've heard at the Potato.
great player and sounds👍👍👍
excellent. I never knew of him before.
I LOVE THAT HE LOVES CLASSIC METAL.

Monster Player !! 👏👏👏
sounds prett< good! love it!
The low strings on that Strat - OMG
I have the kollmanation two of them and the plexi herb. All made by Tim Jauernig. I don’t see his website anymore.
Have the same guitar in brown! Got it for around 600 usd during the pandemic. Just as good as my $2000 les paul; maybe even more resonant
This dude’s tone rules. Time to buy a JCM 2000 DSL
Love this guy

Strat and SG are my mains too
Would love to have tab of that intro. Very distinct.
That's what I call a professional guitarist.

Anyone not aware of Jeff's music is missing out. He is a monster guitarist

Very few have perfectly useable harmonic feedback dialed in like that, just hold a note and its there if you want it.
Kollman is gr8

How long ago was this filmed because Jeff Marshall has been playing in the band recently….?? Another GIT product that is an excellent player
