comparing 1D and TVXQ is annoying to me. They are totally different. The groups like BSB or Naync would make more sense.
Sorry about that. I think the reason they are comparing them is we think of 1D as the most successful boyband to come out of the U.K and TVXQ as the biggest band to come out of Korea. They know they styles of music are different and that the music video came out a while ago

They are the GOD of k pop. And at first they were the accapella band you have to listen their ballads or any accapella songs. Even now it's to difficult to find a k pop boysband, which all the members have amazing voices .

Backstreet Boys once said that they felt like watching a mirror image of themselves when they saw TVXQ! perform. Comparing them to 1D is humiliating...
They basically created and led the global kpop phenomenon and are the gods of kpop. They broke the Guinness record for having the largest fanbase twice. They inspired members of Bigbang, EXO and BTS to become kpop idols. Please respect them and don’t say that they can’t make it like in 1:52
The child's comment was the one I like the most. He said people liked them because they are good singers and dancers. That is what i like to hear. Yes they are good looking but they are amazing singers. I love Mirotic but it is not a song that really showcases how good of singers TVXQ are. I am not into groups because of their looks but because of their singing. I got into TVXQ when I was already too old to be considering their looks as my only reason to like them. They are considered one of the best singers in the industry, specially when you hear them live. They're very recognized and respected because of how good they sound live.

***** I don't know about the professional voice teachers you're referring to, but in Korea they are always praised because of how good they sound live compared to their music videos. Everytime they do a compilation in Korea of which idols voice teachers think have best voices all five of TVXQ are included in top 20. Not only that, I have watched them live several times. Have been in SmTown concerts, two TVXQ concerts, Xia concert and musicals, and believe me, they all sound amazing live. Yunho is the one the gets the bad rep in the group of being a weak singer when that is not really the case. Even when they came as part of SM Town and performed in Madison Square Garden in 2013, there was an article in the New York times that praised TVXQ for their vocals. I know what I'm talking about cause I lived in Korea a year, and i have seen up close how amazing singers they are. It is sad many such as yourself don't appreciate them but such is life. Not everyone has same taste or same opinions. I do respect yours

Fyi, most korean singers (esp boygroup) are formed not only for singing but they trainned to be true entertainers. This is the difference between west/America singers and KPop singers.

i dont think jaejoong and junsu would have the same impact as changmin scream. I can say this because Jaejoong is my ultimate bias. I know he can hit falsetto and everything but i dont think him or junsu can replace changmins scream. I do think that reaching high does not mean you are a good singer overall but its still is an impressive feat to do. I have also seen that jaejoong can do impressive notes like that leaked maximum video for dbsk but changmin for me has that impact when he screams. Not sure how to put it in words but you know what i mean

Their fan base has also grown older, married with kids and jobs. Most don't have the time we used to to be on YT watching videos... unlike the teenie boppers for BTS, Got7 or EXO.

No one compares to TVXQ and it's a decade old MV. The group has been split into 2 different groups over 6 years ago. TVXQ (2 member) & JYJ (3 members) are the current status of this group. Before it's time a decade ago.
I'm amazed even 8 years after their 'split', they still sold out their concerts and their albums sales still on the top of the album charts even without promotion (JYJ) and TVXQ (Yunho and Changmin) don't do much promotion (by SM). And I doubt many group members will be successful like TVXQ/JYJ if their groups split/disband.
Kinda feels like a waste of time showing this to a bunch of people who don't know much about boy bands (or kpop).

TVXQ were considered the Kings of Kpop back in the day... they are part of the "classic kpop" time period... today, the most popular boybands are Exo and BTS. And today, BigBang are considered the Kings of Kpop even tho they're not really "boys" anymore... You guys should react to Exo's songs like Growl (shot in one take), Overdose, Call Me Baby, Monster...
Exo is a boyband formed by a Korean company called SM Entertainment. They're originally split into 2 groups: Exo-K (6 members singing in Korean) and Exo-M (6 members singing in Mandarin Chinese). So 12 altogether. Their hit song was Growl, and the MV was famous because it was taken in one take, which was unique in Kpop back in 2013. Since then, though, 3 of the Chinese members have left the group (one of which was arguably the most popular member), yet Exo is still one of the top boybands in Kpop.
And their company, SM Ent., was the same company that managed TVXQ

I been a directioner since 2010, but for the freaking love of god, do not compare any kpop group with 1D!!! They have nothing to compare with. 1D and BTS (for example) are totally different, not even same genre. Each one has their thing.

Hi :) My reaction was similar when I first saw smth from kpop ;p You get it wrong. This is not a typical genre, rather kind of dance music. Imagine a group of dancers in the street doing some choreo. At first the music may not impress you by itself but it starts to flow when you see it "performed".K-pop is about the performance(tbh watching videos is a bit awkward for me as well) On the other hand, those guys are that famous for overall vocal quality. They are pretty great singers and good dancers at the same time. You could check them as solo artists. One went to rock, the other...well, I can't decide if it's still the same genre or smth else...anyway it's a bit like a mix of performing arts with theather... anyway, songs like "Another girl", "Flower", "Mine", "Rock the world"...they're worth watching. Sorry for the long comment

They aren't disbanded two of them still go by TVXQ but are currently doing their mandatory military service but will be out in 2017 and back to making music, and the other 3 are with a different company and promoting as JYJ and solo works they go by Xia Junsu, Kim Jaejoong, and Park Yoochun. Yoochun and Jaejoong are also doing their military service, Jaejoong will be out this month and Yoochun later in 2017. Junsu is going to do his 2 year military service starting in 2017.
