One of the best kids' game series. It's full of cute characters, beautiful graphics, and the toys are much higher quality than amiibo and those god-awful Disney Infinity figures. It even gets really challenging toward the end-game.

Years ago during my first play through of Skylanders, I had a terrifying experience with the living suits of armor. In one of the undead levels, there’s a pool of water. Stump smash has an upgrade which allows him to float and heal in water. My only water element at the time (Gill Grunt) was killed by some skeletons earlier and I (knowing that enemies couldn’t go in water) decided to hide in the pool. I think I stayed there for 30 minutes before actually trying to fight back. That experience has stuck with me longer and more vividly than anything else from 2011.
My favorite video game of all. Skylanders or otherwise. Just a masterpiece. So replayable, so well thought out, such satisfying pacing and feedback loop, no dull aspect or segment, entirely unique concept and execution and it's surprisingly mature in tone and art. I find something new to appreciate anytime I play it. And it's such a complete experience. It's beautiful. It holds up perfectly, and should be remembered as a modern classic. It might seem like bias but I really feel that way, and this game was a "grower" for me, back when it came out. This comment section is so sweet too. Thank you for posting this.

Almost 10 years later, I'm 21 years old, and this is still my favourite video game of all time. I own all 32 original figures including dark and legendaries, I have beat every heroic challenge with every Skylander, and I have lost count of how many times I've beaten the game 100%. I revisit it multiple times a year and the magic of bringing my toys to life still never gets old for me. I know, I'm such a big kid, lol. Hopefully, in a few years, there will be a nostalgia boom like there was with Crash and Spyro and the franchise will see some kind of remaster or reboot... Hopefully...
One of the strangest thing about Spyro's Adventure on console is how different the Wii version is compared to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The Wii version had more polished animations and effects, more dynamic soundtrack and overall better quality and performance at a stable frame rate, while the other versions suffers from low frame rates and lots of bugs and glitches. One may argue that the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC version had better graphics, but imo it looks worse. It made everything look glossy like porcelain while on the Wii it felt more cartoonish and more fitting to this game, plus they carried over the Wii graphics over to Giants on all consoles (minus 3DS of course)

Christ this was my childhood I still have all of my Skylanders on display in my room and I almost have everyone from the first game. Every year I waited for the next game to come out and I would replay each game and I LOVED IT every time. I hope they bring these games back in either a new game or a remaster of the first game

The music in this game, not to mention the entire series, needs to be talked about significantly more. With Hanz Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, two talented and experienced film score composers, working together for the first game and Lorne Balfe working solo for the entire rest of the series, this series has possibly one of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time. The Celtic feel fits perfectly with the setting of the Skylanders games, and it is incredibly atmospheric at times, such as City Under Sea in Superchargers or a lot of Trap Team's music. Other times, it can be brooding and intense, such as in Drill X's Big Rig in Giants or Bringing Order to Chaos, also in Giants. And other times still, it can just feel very majestic and beautiful, such as Glacier gully and Wilikin Village in Giants, or pretty much all of Spyro's Adventure's level themes. Just an incredible soundtrack tied with a very fun and, dare I say it, underrated franchise.

I remember whenever I reached a section where you had to fight evil versions of the skylanders to get one of the eternal sources I had to call my dad in because I didn't know what to do, then one day he was busy cooking so I had to do it myself, that's when I realised how easy it was, also why didn't you get the secrets like the soul gems and elemental gates, I understand that you don't have all the time in the world to get them, but I saw a cut in the video right before you went to dark water cove so it's not like you didn't have any breaks

Honestly, I don't think people respect the complexity behind the Skylanders series. The fact that you can still use your old Skylanders in the future games is not only amazing, but very complicated as well, considering that with each game, they needed to update textures for the in game models, and had to make sure they had to work with a new control scheme (Swap Force introduced a jump button).
I miss playing this so badly and really wish I still had my wii because me and my brother used to play this all the time and it was some of the best fun I've ever had.
Nah, the Wii version was the best. The PS/360 versions looked slimy in most spots (often just making the visuals worse overall, with VFX that muddled them), didn't run any better than the Wii version, removed a lot of visual flourishes, had some much dumber stuff like worse gold SFX and the dearth of drumsticks, had a lot more bugs, and screen tearing. They were bad ports of an amazing game. There's also some clear evidence that they were based on an early build of the game so FWIW the balance differences and Lair of Kaos are probably not how those things are "meant" to be, but leftover artefacts and in this case, that shows. And oh Lair of Kaos, thank god the Wii version didn't end up with the HD build of the level, it's bad. I mean the game is still really great on the PS3 and 360 and I prefer certain things on them but they make me miss the Wii version, the Wii version is the best one. PC version was also hot garbage because it would corrupt figures randomly and ran horribly anyway. It's a crime this game got such bad HD ports but they pitched it as a Nintendo exclusive early on and those ports probably didn't get much budget or time and we know they were just outsourced. As it is the best way to play the game, by far, is Dolphin Emulator, even though official HD ports exist.

Also those Lair of Kaos elevator segments are pure trash, they aren't in the Wii version.
The game it's cool as it is, it doesn't need a remake. It would be better if instead they did a new game with the quality this one and "Giants" had. There are rumors that they're working for a Skylanders game for 2021

Honestly, I don't think people respect the complexity behind the Skylanders series. The fact that you can still use your old Skylanders in the future games is not only amazing, but very complicated as well, considering that with each game, they needed to update textures for the in game models, and had to make sure they had to work with a new control scheme (Swap Force introduced a jump button).
Fun Fact: Josh Keaton is the voice of Spyro and Josh Keaton was Spider-Man voice in Spectacular Spider-Man series (2008 - 2009)
I miss playing this so badly and really wish I still had my wii because me and my brother used to play this all the time and it was some of the best fun I've ever had.

Nah, the Wii version was the best.
The PS/360 versions looked slimy in most spots (often just making the visuals worse overall, with VFX that muddled them), didn't run any better than the Wii version, removed a lot of visual flourishes, had some much dumber stuff like worse gold SFX and the dearth of drumsticks, had a lot more bugs, and screen tearing.
They were bad ports of an amazing game.
There's also some clear evidence that they were based on an early build of the game so FWIW the balance differences and Lair of Kaos are probably not how those things are "meant" to be, but leftover artefacts and in this case, that shows.
And oh Lair of Kaos, thank god the Wii version didn't end up with the HD build of the level, it's bad.
I mean the game is still really great on the PS3 and 360 and I prefer certain things on them but they make me miss the Wii version, the Wii version is the best one.
PC version was also hot garbage because it would corrupt figures randomly and ran horribly anyway. It's a crime this game got such bad HD ports but they pitched it as a Nintendo exclusive early on and those ports probably didn't get much budget or time and we know they were just outsourced. As it is the best way to play the game, by far, is Dolphin Emulator, even though official HD ports exist.
@@idontcheckmynotifications Oh yea heck i have the PC version, it does corrupt figures for no reason, i do know how to fix them but it's a terrible process and i'm sure 99,9% of the players don't even know how to do it. Also those Lair of Kaos elevator segments are pure trash, they aren't in the Wii version.

The game it's cool as it is, it doesn't need a remake. It would be better if instead they did a new game with the quality this one and "Giants" had. There are rumors that they're working for a Skylanders game for 2021
