- During the college basketball game between Washington State and Arizona, Washington State's Jaylen Wells scored a clutch four point play with under a minute left to give the Cougars a 75-74 lead. They then held on for a 77-74 win and swept Arizona for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

That Arizona crowd got insanely quiet when that 3 was made.
Signature win for Washington State that should get them in the dance
They were already almost certainly in but this absolutely seals it.
64 teams go to the dance... all top 25 teams go surely
@@ryanamburgy2791yeah I’d argue Oregon is the bubble team in the pac 12
@@SavannahFourmanthere has been years where team loses there conference tournament while ranked and not get in
Washington State has beaten Arizona twice this season.
Arizona is dreading a first-round exit in the tournament yet again
They've mastered that move.
Did anything come of the little light up noodle being thrown at the bench?
I was wondering about that too lol
Only a PA announcement about "please do not throw objects onto the court" and a warning that a future disruption would draw a technical against Arizona.
@@Andr50n oh yeah, I agree. I meant there wasn't any repercussions that directly affected the outcome of the game.
Fantastic username, probably my favorite plane ever
@@pat2rome Thanks! I was lucky to grab it.
that 3 pointer was absolutely insane
I could make a better one
@@widk2 you couldnt even reach the rim with your malnourished philippines twig arms
That is so sad for that arizona player that slipped. He did not mean for it to happen, but the shoes gave out on the court. What a tragedy
Eh it’s not his fault, the foul on the 3 pointer is inexcusable
that was caleb love. no stranger to big moments. he sent duke and coach k packing (in k’s last game ever) in the final four when he was at UNC. he still almost hit the falling out of bounds 35 footer to send it to overtime in this game lol
@@lukephillips1331It wasn't just Love that beat Doook, it was the "whole team", not just one individual. And that's Love's biggest fault: he was a selfish, me first player at Carolina. Always pouted when he missed a shot and progressively took worse shots when he got that way. It cost Carolina several games and quite frankly, Carolina is a much better team without him. Good riddance...
Classless to throw that item at the Wazzu bench
What?
Wazzou is the second hottest team in the nation, behind USF of course
You know ball
@@pschighlights 😃
No class Arizona fans throwing debris on the court..
Its a balloon chill out
Was there an object thrown on the floor during one of the free throws ? Embarrassing
Yeah. The PA said another would be a tech against Arizona, which basically would've ended the game at that point.
Classic Pac 2 vs Big 12 matchup.
Washington st becoming a surprise team this year
March madness is going to be wild
How did Wazzu become the best basketball team in the state of Washington? Gonzaga's been the power for a while, with Washington occasionally making the tourney. But the Cougs have done nothing for over a decade. The concept of WSU being a good basketball team is completely foreign to me, but I am all in favor (even as a Husky fan).
Mike Hopkins has been a huge disappointment. His first 2 seasons showed some promise but the last 5 years have been dismal. They should have booted him after the 2021 season when they went 5 and 21. I think they just owed him too much money to fire him. Fortunately his contract is finally up next month so he's almost certainly gone. Hopefully they're willing to spend the money to get somebody decent
This might be the only time i cheer for state as a huskies fan
Go cougs!!!
@@logandihelAs much as it hurts me to say, Go cougs.
I cheer for them against Oregon
Picked to finish 10th, no NIL money, No 5 star McDonalds All Americans.....and No Conference to play in next year......WSU athletically if competition was looked at should be in a major conference. Such a joke all of this $$$ bullshit is making college sports.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa$!
I agree, NIL is going to prove to be the death of the NCAA and amateur athletes. They're getting a free education, room, and board as payment to play. This just makes these punks feel more privileged...
Hot Take: Arizona is always overated. This upset shouldn’t have surprised anyone.
The only reason they are ranked is because they beat Michigan a couple seasons back when Michigan was ranked 4 or something at the beginning of that season
what about Clemson's upset in Chapel Hill
I can’t believe they are still a projected 1. The pac 12 is filled with a bunch of bums this year and wazzou is the only other good team which swept Arizona
They dropped a game to the WORST TEAM IN THEIR CONFRENCE, Oregon state
Washington ST is 21st in the country?
Happy for Wazzu, they haven't made the tournament in forever.
Had to Google this because my first thought was "they were solid with Tony Bennett," not realizing he was last there in 2009 lol!
The lesson? Time goes by waaaay too fast.
@@mikeyt3784 yeah they never made the tournament with Klay Thompson, only made the NIT his last year there in 2011. They haven't really done squat since. I remember they often won a bunch of low-scoring games when Tony Bennett was the coach there
@@EvanEscher yeah, that's what Tony Bennett teams do lol.
That sweep of Arizona has Washington State creeping closer to lock status.
How was a Technical not called for that paper airplane
Could hear a pin drop in that arena after that 4 point play , wow
Caleb love😂😂😂😂😂
It was an upset considering it was Arizona but Wash State just have 8 game winning streak prior to this game. Both teams ate actually hot.
JAYLEN WELLS IS HIM. KEEP DOING YOUR THING BRODIE!!! 🙌
LOL, whenever Arizona loses, America wins!
WSU actualyl making their bench dress nice
The officials were really feeling that home cooking down the stretch...and this play woke them back into reality
Caleb love slipping 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I see them winning the Pac-2 next year!
For some reason, Caleb Love slipping and falling is hilarious to me. I don't really know anything about the guy, and I don't have any particular disdain or opinion of Arizona. Just looked funny that's all. 😂
(Did anyone else see that thing get thrown onto the court from the crowd?!)
Fans throwing stuff at Washington state Bench is a Technical should be more free throws
It would have to be excessive before they did that. You can't hold the players responsible for one stupid fan
WELLS IS HIM
ICE ICE BABY 🎉
Kyle Smith is a veritable national coach of the year contender. this season in men’s college basketball has provided us an abundance of coach of the year candidates, such as Smith, Lamont Paris (South Carolina represent!), Danny Sprinkle, T.J. Otzelberger, and Amir Abdur-Rahim, alongside numerous other coaches I’m certain I’m forgetting at this moment
Lloyd has got to sit Boswell down and have Bradley start. The missed FTs killed Arizona as well. It's going to be a sad March once again, especially if Arizona goes against a team that can shoot the 3 consistently
No usf post still 😢
Lmfao that travel...just pass the ball you arent him
washington state might be legit
5-3 Quad 1 record, season sweep of Arizona, 8 wins in a row, 1st in Pac-12.
Great season for a school that was not considered a Power 5 institution
Cougars vs Wildcats I like it. I like Cats all types
The rebound and kick were even more clutch!
Did somebody throw a paper airplane during that free throw?
One of their light-up noodles. Pretty classless.
zona drop the bag
Im going to the oregon vs utah game
Extra ticket?
yoo same
DRF is happy 😭😭
This is the only time I can ever recall Washington state being good
they won the march invitational recently i believe, proof that theyve been good enough, especially over non-power 5’s that get bounced in 2 rounds
this is actually embarrassing considering how bad the Pac-12 is. hard to say Arizona isn’t frauds by now given how many conference Ls
1:10 -- Didn't see who drove and slipped there, just glad he's okay. The MVP of the game was the court...
Caleb Love
fluke game
Two flukes then, because they swept Arizona.
No, It's not a fluke that Washington State has beaten Arizona twice this year.
@@erikhancock98569 it is a fluke
@@D1_Papiwashington state > arizona
Play the only real team in the PAC-12 and get swept. The Cougs came in and handled business from early on in the first half
Absolutely no one talking about the fact that wasn't even a foul. Zero contact made by the defender. Shooter landed on the defender's foot and he oversold the fall. Regardless, a great shot, but am I the only one seeing this?
The defensive player getting into the shooters landing zone is the entire point of the rule. Dangerous when they land on the defenders feet and leads to injuries very often. The rule is that you can't obstruct the shooters landing area or it's a foul.
@@-frcracked-8804 ahhh that makes a lot of sense thank you
Unpopular opinion: those types of fouls where the defender contacts the shooter after the shot has already been put up should not be a shooting foul. They should still be a foul, but a non shooting one.
That would be dangerous to player safety to reduce the punishment for such fouls. You would see a lot more injuries on close-outs.

Shooter has the right to go straight up and come down in the same spot without a defender getting in his landing spot
i see what you mean because it doesnt affect the shot, but theres basically no punishment if its a not shooting fowl
crazy that 10 years ago that would’ve just been a 3…. (i do agree that it’s a foul tho)
Agreed. There have been some questionable rule changes in the last 10 or so years but that's a good one. Defenders never should have been allowed to step under a shooter on a jump shot
