Denzel’s inability to break through into the mainstream actually pisses me off so much. He’s consistently so good and I wouldn’t say his music is sonically jarring at all. Just weird how he’s stayed in the underground - mainstream limbo for so many years despite continually pumping out incredible projects one after another.

I'm so glad 2093 is actually making peoples year end lists, it was #50 on fantanos overall list (which is kind of crazy with how many albums that came out). It's genuinely really crazy how much of his core fanbase didnt like this album when it's such a crazy improvement and imo FAR better than any of his previous work. Cant believe we couldve had a second 2093 come out this year, but the fans pressured him to make lyfestyle again (He explicitly stated he only made that album to feed the fans that didnt like the slower direction of 2093).
@@Hellxvixlett Yeah, it sucks to see; to a lesser extent they all hated on his previous album afterlyfe for similar reasons. It's gotta be awful for yeat because if you listen to his music since 2020 he's slowly been progressing towards the 2093 sound and you can tell that's really what he wanted to be making esp with how slow and experimental afterlyfe was for him. ADL (His next album) gonna be like a more artpoppy 2093 from the snippets so im honestly excited.
Did you listen to Almighty So 2 and I lay down my life for you? Cause those 2 together with Chromakopia are my favourite rap albums of 2024. Especially the Chief Keef record was so crazy unexpecdetly intricate and well rounded even though almost every song is a fun banger.
KOTMS II is my album of the year, especially if we count the Deluxe edition songs. GOT ME GEEKED may be a new personal favourite in Zel's discography, such a different track than what he normally does but it works so damn well, and the rest of the album is also filled with amazing tracks.
YES BOLDY! Sorry but finally he’s on this list. Dude is extremely underrated . Also I listened to Gao The Arsonist, and I got that album in my playlist. Seriously if you haven’t listened to him I’d highly recommend you do. Chromakopia is one of best of 2024 that was expected to be number 1
GNX was my personal number 1 but I ain't mad about what beat it on your list since it was also an awesome album. Gonna keep cranking that squabble up every day.
Honestly I wish I liked blue lips more because I do really like schoolboy q but I found it really hard to latch onto. If there’s anyway I could describe the album, it’s sporadic. Like the songs never stay the same, like ever. The songs never settle, so I just found it hard to latch on to anything. Right as I’m starting to like something, it switches to some distortion of swirling adlibs, or maybe a song is super hype for the first minute and then it switches to a really slow paced outro. Also a lot of the songs just took too long to develop. Like I’d be waiting a full 3 minutes before the kick or the snare came in. I don’t know, I just found it hard to find anything that I could just throw on. And I do listen to plenty of albums all the way through but idk it just didn’t click with me. I don’t think it’s a bad album at all but I feel like it was almost doing too much. I usually love beat switches but that’s a project where it happens like every minute and it kinda just ruined the pace of the songs for me. There are still a handful of songs I really like though.
I understand why people love it, but for me I just somewhat like it. There’s some amazing tracks on there, but the pace gets a little bit too slow for me at times even if I respect the direction Vince is taking his music in.
Hello CDTV, I’m glad you enjoyed Across The Tracks and consider it one of the best albums of 2024. I recommend you to listen to Manger on McNichols. Manger on McNichols is Boldy’s magnum opus and one of the best albums of the 2020s.
Just listened to the Gao the Arsonist album and it genuinely might be my aoty. I saved every song on first listen. It's between this and Glimmer of God by Jean Dawson
The more I look at these comments the more I gotta ask you people, have you ever considered that he just didn’t to the albums you people are wondering why they aren’t the list? He can only make a top 10 out of the albums he listened to.
I also really enjoyed GNX but i find it funny how you mentioned tv off, hey now, and peekaboo as some of the most entertaining for you when those were the few songs i really didn’t care for, and the title track was amongst my favorites when it was your one dud 😅😅

I'm honestly surprised Coup de Grace/ Death of Slim Shady isn't on this list, I know it's controversial as hell, but there's still a good few tracks, like Fuel, Antichrist, Habits, and Evil. Call it a "return to form", I don't. Em has always said in his music, like in 'Higher', "When I think I've hit my ceiling, I go higher than I've effing been". He raps the way he always did. I’ve always had a question about Take Your Mask Off. I love the song, but in the 3rd verse, when he’s talking about the stay at home mom, is he saying she should abandon her family and go live her dreams? Idk if I am misreading it, but I can’t see any other way to look at it. If that is, that’s a pretty messed up message to promote. 😅
I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily promoting that message, just more so observing situations that can exist with someone sacrificing their own dreams and aspirations to stay at home and raise a family, and how that can lead them to feelings of depression and missing out on life
