    Should hit “F” key to turn dual wielding off on hand xbows. That way you can control exactly where each shot goes, rather then main attack automatically firing the off hand as well (even if they would have died from first shot).
    Will have so many wasted shots / bonus actions with it on.

    For the gear u want the ring "Caustic band" that add 2 Acid damage
    and the ring "Strange conduit" that adds 1-4 Psychic damage when concentrating(hunters mark)
    Also the helmet "Diadem of Arcane synergy" that gives arcane synergy(adds spellcasting modifier to attacks) for 2 turns when applying a condition(Hunters mark is a condition)
    That is 7-10 more damage per hit, so ~40 damage at 4 hits, with action surge its 60, and with haste its 80 more damage.
    U only need to apply hunters mark once and even if the target dies ur still concentrating, add something like poison to ur weapon and u will keep applying a condition for the arcane synergy.
    Adit: Also the chest "The Graceful Cloth" gives 2 dex and +1dex to saving throws and +1.5m jump distance

      Ya +dmg stuff is awesome for builds like this that attack a bunch, but late game there are some stuff that starts to outshine it.
      For helm I prefer Saveroks for permanent -1 Crit, and for one of the rings want Risky Ring (I still use caustic band as other ring).
      For strange conduit it does still count as concentrating even while hunters mark is on “reapply”, but if you get hit that concentration can still break until you cast it again.

    I recommend using Assassin for rogue as well. You will regain your action and bonus action if you initiate the fight with an attack (and it actually works now in Patch 5!), you will get Advantage on any enemy that hasn't already moved yet (and due to Dread Ambusher and your high Dexterity, you'll be going first almost all of the time), and if you Surprise your enemies, you will automatically Crit on every hit. _Extremely_ powerful damage on Round 1, though Thief is admittedly better than Assassin on subsequent rounds.
    Also, I recommend Archer and Two-Weapon Fighting as your two fighting styles (replacing Defence), as this will increase the damage and accuracy of your off-hand crossbow.
    One last thing to consider is 5 Rogue / 2 Fighter instead of 3 Rogue / 4 Fighter. You won't get the subclass from Fighter and will lose a couple points of HP, but in exchange your Sneak Attack will be stronger (2d6 at Level 3, 3d6 at Level 5) and you get Uncanny Dodge. The Sneak Attack boost is weaker than Manoeuvres on average (an extra d6 instead of a d8), but Sneak Attack does not consume any resources and can be used once every turn (twice, if you get a Crit). I tend to prefer the stronger Rogue dip, but pick your favorite.

    This is a fantastic build and it synergizes EXTREMELY well if you build around certain gear that increases your AC based on your dex modifier. You can achieve an AC of 23 with this build with no penalty to your stealth checks if you use a combination of Armor of agility, a ring of protection, and gloves of agility. It allows you to stack up to 20 dex so that you can invest your early build points into constitution and wisdom instead of spending heavily in dex off the bat.. It's also useful if you want extra attacks but you like to get more up and personal with a duel wielding style with particular finesse weapons. That includes 1d8 longswords in the game which are finesse (instead of your 1d6 scimitars).
    Obviously, you have to obtain the equipment to make it work, but you can make a single target murder machine, or even multiple targets depending on what you choose when you level ranger up (horde breaker for instance will give you AOE melee if you are close to 2 or more targets).

      At 7 respec. Start warrior 2 then warlock 2 the rest is sorcerer. Level 7 u get hasted by teammate, then u quicken eldritch blast, eldritch blast, haste eldritch blast, action surge eldritch blast. 8 beams lvl 7, level 9 its 12 beams. Add charisma modifier from warlock invocation and charisma modifier from robe act 2. With 20 charisma (act 1 quest gives +1 and +2 from feat) its +10 dmg every beam. Ull get +2 charisma hat act 3 so its +12 dmg every beam.
      There is even an item that gives extra beam every cantrip.
      Then u either add light jevelry bonuses to it and certain sword from underdark or go sparks bonuses (spark staff and stuff). If sparks then ur sorcerer should be bronze or blue draconic for level 6 extra charisma modifier bonus. Warlock subclass u can go whatever u want, fiend is nice for temporary hp, goo for on crit fear also good (ull be shooting dozens of beams so u gonna crit eventually)
      Good luck u got an ultimate blaster build.

If you stop there and resist the urge you can still keep the cloak and not RP an evil character. Or do, it's up to you, but it still enables all sorts of craziness with this build.

    I write this before watching - I'm a ranger myself, and I think I got the perfect build without watching any guids. Now that I completed the game, let's see what other people came up with!
    edit: after watching it: I did this very similar to what is suggested here, On the Items side of things I'd like to point out that there are several rings/gloves that add damage to your attacks, which is always amazing (goblin camp trader in act 1 has gloves that gives +2 to damage roles for example), as well as items that grand blind immunity, as you can basically hide in your own smoke clouds while killing everything around you. Also amazing are all the weapons you can get that grand you any modifier until you longrest, for example the Drakethroat Glaive, which you can use to enchant your bow with any element as an additional 1d4 damage role. You even can swap back to your Knife of the undermountain King again, the +1d4 damage stays literally until longrest - no concentration or anything. Really good items all throughout the game in every single act that improves this build massively. Well done, gg

  • @IniquitousZ

    I'm doing something similar, but with assassin. The extra bonus action is nice for sure, but assassin pairs really well here. You restore your action on combat start, so shooting an unsuspecting target basically gives you a free extra turn, you have advantage on whatever you shoot the opening turn, and every hit you land during the surprise round is a crit. especially if you're dumping your action surge on that first turn when your assassin bonuses are up, you can pretty reliably melt the entire encounter before enemies even gets a turn.

    • @silverfox9107
      @silverfox9107 ปีที่แล้ว

      Assassin is terrible, just like in dnd 5e. The idea is cool, but thief plays WAY better thanks to the bonus action. With the build you’re doing, you might as well go monk barb , or fighter ranger, it’s far superior? tankier and more mobile.

    • @ornado4773
      @ornado4773 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@silverfox9107 .....what? Assassin in BG 3 is still REALLY strong and its stupidly powerful on table top. 3 Levels for free advantage/auto crits is ....abused a lot...though rogues as a whole in DND 5e fall off super hard as a class as a whole and get outpaced by paladins/rangers and every caster in damage/utility etc. So its not much of an argument, but the best subclasses for rogue in 5e Swashbuckler - Arcane Trickster - Psiblade/Inquistor - Assassin - everything else is dog shit. Assassin would be better if it didnt have 2 dead class features, but its level 3 one is used for NOVA builds that go high.

    • @blindedinchains829
      @blindedinchains829 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@silverfox9107 You're too caught up in 5e TT stuff. Assassin is only bad on TT because players (and DMs) tend to ignore or forget the rules to engagement that determine surprise. And generally don't build around it either. It's so easy to get surprise rounds in BG3, as well as going first. My Astarion in my main game is Assassin and has ALWAYS been first on the turn order after like level 4.
      He's nearly one-shot a lot of things, and where he doesn't, they're already nearly dead.

    I would pick Bounty Hunter instead of fire resistance.
    The Raven familiar is great.
    It can fly, so you can easily put it in melee with a target, which enables your sneak attack.
    It can also blind an enemy, which gives you advantage on attacks against that enemy.
    So you have another way to get advantage if you can't get into stealth

    I wonder, while admittedly a bit more situational I wonder if the extra thief bonus action from a burst standpoint beats out assassination. I guess it depends on what you're going for, but if you action surge with every single hit being a crit you become a tactical nuke at the expense of the sustain afterwards. Depending on what you're trying to do, it's totally worth it eliminating the big threat outright.
    EDIT: Actually, the more I think about it the guaranteed 15 damage (+5 DEX and +10 Sharpshooter) from the extra bonus attack balances/outpaces the crit burst after the first round, and it's only maybe 10-15 less damage overall on that round (not to discount that this will from time to time require party members to help cover that little bit). I'll leave this commentary here in case anyone else wondered the same.

    Hey! Sorry for the necro haha. Just saw this video. Lot's of comments so I'm sorry if I'm repeating someone, but the only change that I would make is that your 2nd fighting style should be Two Weapon Fighting. It allows you to add your Dexterity bonus to the damage from your offhand weapon, so an additional 4 damage per shot (at 18-19 Dexterity) or 5 damage per shot (at 20 Dexterity). Since you have two bonus actions to attack with, that's an extra 8 to 10 damage per round, which is better than a the small AC boost for taking the Defense fighting style, in my opinion.

    Slight correction at 10:50. Having an ally adjacent to an enemy does not grant advantage. It does however cause them to have the "threatened" condition and so therefore also grants sneak attack. Requirements for sneak attack are either advantage or threatened (or both but it's no better than just advantage).

    • @moonwatcher99

True if you're casting Pass without trace from your ranger list you lose hunters mark, but if you're able to attack with impunity then it becomes trivial. 😅

    slight act 3 spoilers below
    I played similar builds before but I personally played 6 fighter(champion)/3 thief rogue/ 3 gloomstalker. The only level2 ranger spell I found myelf using consistently was misty step and that falls off in Act3 due to flight from partial ceremorphosis IMO.
    I liked champion with the combination of several act 3 items to push the crit threshold to around 15-17. I used thief subclass + 2handed bow (there's one with crit multiplier from A3 vendor), since you can 'hide' before and after the second shot with enables crit from cloak (buy at thieve's guild). and also keeps you fairly save depending on positioning possibilities in the fight. The other pieces are offhand from Orin and helmet of Sarevok. On top of this there is an elixir you can use.
    This could of course be played with 2x 1H crossbows instead. I found dual wielding fun against lots of weaker enemies, but for tougher fights I preferred the 2h version since you can often find a good use for bonus actions other than offhand attacks.

If youre doing a solo run, gloomstalker might be better to guarantee those 1 round kills. That being said, if you have a high dex duelist to augment your high dex ranged character, you will likely get more use out of Hunter.

    I legit formed this exact same build the moment I read through all the classes and subclasses. This build made my tactician playthrough TRIVIAL. It is literally broken beyond comapre. Larian you idiots there is a reason rogues dont get to attack more like other classes do and you just broke this game. If youre under haste and you have action surge (level 11 at least) you can literally attack 9 times per turn. I 1 rounded the bhaal dude that has like 21 base ac on tact with the weakness amulet. The thing that annyos me most is how every d&d newbie says paladin is broken sorcerer is broken. Bro you can literally build a machine gun in this game what are you even talking about. This build is probably your best bet if you wanna solo this game because you can stack ac up to like 24 too. Finally a content creator with a functioning brain.

    1 thing I think you'd need to change.
    The starting class should be Ranger for a reason.
    Rogue's hit is 1d8 where as Fighter and Ranger are 1d10. So rogue is out.
    Ranger has medium armor proficiency - CHECK
    Ranger has shields proficiency - CHECK
    Problem with fighter is it's primary stat is Str and it's saving throws are Str + Con based
    Ranger's primary stat is Dex and saving throws are Dex + Str based.
