Philippines accuses China Coast Guard of damaging its ship | DW News

  • The Philippines said on Tuesday that the China Coast Guard fired water cannons at two of its vessels, causing damage to one of them, during a patrol near the hotly contested Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea.
"This damage serves as evidence of the forceful water pressure used by the China Coast Guard in their harassment of the Philippine vessels," Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Jay Tarriela said in a statement. "They were not deterred and will persist in carrying out their legitimate operations to support Filipino fishermen and ensure their safety."
The China Coast Guard said the "vessels" had been expelled for waters close to Huangyan Island, which is China's term for the Scarsborough Shoal.
One of the vessels belonged to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the other was from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Chinese government ask Philippines government to deal that and Philippines government says it is not his business.
so China kick those people out and those people selling the island for 1 piso to Philippines government. that is the first time Philippines government make office claim on this island.
in 1970s, when there is a strom hit the island, Chinese soldier leave for a month and when they come back,Philippines soldier took it. because the fear if usa China can't do anything and Philippines keep this island.

The arbitral tribunal exercised jurisdiction ultra vires, erred in applying the law,and violated the principle of state consent, UNCLOS and general international law.
China has Indisputable Sovereignty over Nansha Qundao (Archipelago), including Ren'ai Jiao (Reef), and the adjacent waters. This has been established in the long course of history and is Consistent With Internatienal Law including the UN Charter.
In 1971, the Philippines invaded China's Zhongye Island, which was garrisoned by Taiwan Province of China. Occupied to this day. So far, the Philippines has invaded and occupied many of China’s islands and reefs!
Ferdinand Marcos was ousted by the Filipino people for embezzling $10 billion. Will a family that once stole huge wealth from the Filipino people care about the interests of the Philippine country and people? This is a joke! His family's assets of 600 million US dollars are still in the hands of Americans. Therefore, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos became a puppet of the Americans and was driven by the Americans to cause "trouble" with China.

Second Thomas Shoal, also known as Ayungin Shoal is only 194 km; 121 mi west of Palawan and more than 1000 km; 620 mi south of Hainan china, so it is not part of China, never was part of China. Even historically it wasn't China, a Chinese Junk only travels at about 5 mph, so it would take 5 days or more under good sail to make it there to start fishing, while Paraws (traditional filipino sailboats) travel at a speed of 20-30 km; 15 mph, so who historically fished the Avugin Shoals? I can tell you it wouldn't have been the Chinese. Sailing somewhere 8 hours to go fish before the days of refrigeration versus 5 days is a massive difference, the Second Thomas Shoal is and historically was part of the Philippines. China was frustrated to controll that area because of possible oil rich islands. Too much greedyness lead to the fall of china.

Correction it's West Philippine Sea not Philippine Sea. Look at a map, the name Philippine Sea is at the East of the Philippines with boundaries of Japan, Taiwan and the Palau Islands.

The seas and oceans are considered to be a 'global commons', which means that they belong to everyone and no one at the same time. However, countries do have the right to claim 'exclusive economic zones' (EEZs) up to 200 nautical miles from their coastlines.

The message is clear: Philippine needs to clam down, resolve issues through talk and adhere to their agreements with China. And most importantly, don't put too much faith on the "mutual" pact with their former colonizer. Be a responsible player in the South China sea.

Lol. Why don't you tell China to calm down, stop provocation and lying, and stop falsely claiming an EEZ of another country.
