I can understand there is lots of shitty Dubstep. But I have been so far down the rabbit hole of EDM genres for so long its all a blur. I'm pretty sure the word DUBStep is just a generic label used a blanket covering many genres that may or may not like under the EDM umbrella. So why Dubstep? It’s called “dub” because like dub-reggae. it was a kind of music with drums and heavy bass. The “step” evolved from “Steppers” which was also a slang term in" jungle/drum’ n’ bass" music. Towards the end of the 2000s it was mainly “wobble bass” to making that “wobble” / “wah wah” sound.
By the time you get to “dubstep” of the kind of Skrillex both the original rhythm and dubby sound more or less changed beyond recognition. And now what you might call dubstep wobbly bass , or Riddim, Bass-House etc. And yes I have it listed in this videos title as a Hashtag but in the 6 minutes of time that was clipped I would define what your listening to as Bass-House and Techno-Bass. So you should good to go to give it a play.
