New Zealand v Argentina - Full Match Highlights & Tries

- New Zealand overcame a disjointed, ill-disciplined first half to beat a ferociously committed Argentina 26-16 in their opening Pool C match at Wembley on Sunday.
Argentina had gone into the break 13-12 up, courtesy of a try by Guido Petti and flawless kicking by Nicolas Sanchez as discipline issues dogged New Zealand.
While the All Blacks stayed in the hunt via four Daniel Carter penalties, they also had captain Richie McCaw (for apparent trip) and vice-captain Conrad Smith (obstruction at a ruck close to his own try-line) sent to the sin-bin.
Argentina's Pablo Mantera was yellow-carded earlier for obstruction.
The stop-start affair continued in the second half, Sanchez extending Argentina’s lead by three points only minutes after the interval to further raise Argentine hopes of a first-ever win over the world champions.
From around the 60-minute mark New Zealand found some more cohesion and continuity, scoring tries through scrum-half Aaron Smith and replacement flanker Sam Cane.
Carter converted both to make it 26-16 and prevent the All Blacks losing a Rugby World Cup pool match for the first time ever.

Not surprised here by the effort here by the Pumas. This is what we expect from a Rugby Championship team. Abs a little rusty but superior fitness and bench made the difference.. Need to work on discipline big time if we are to win. Great close game overall. Im pretty sure the 90,000+ crowd got thier moneys worth.

It's really 'unfair'. All Blacks have really strong bench and their level of fitness is amazing. How could other team play against them for 80 minutes without same level of intensity? But it's great to watch the Pumas. They are really fun to watch. Joining the southern hemisphere powerhouse was the right decision.

Matias Guzman Obviamente venimos levantando el nivel desde el mundial 2011. A partir de ahi empezamos a jugar el rugby championship y ya se pueden ver los frutos de esta experiencia. Pero todavía falta mucho laburo, y no hay que olvidarse de que Irlanda y Francia también siguen mejorando. Además argentina también comete errores en el rack por ejemplo, pero a esperar lo mejor. A ver si estos pumas nos traen otra alegria como la del 2007.

Its a shame that the organization is suspending #Galarza from Argentina for 9 weeks because they have considered he played a "dangerous play". Its a joke, Argentina played with a lot of spirit, they even greeted the All Blacks out of the stadium in a very honorable way. I was on the stadium and I can't conceive that the organization is suspending a player like this. The only thing I can think of is that somebody is afraid that Argentina could do really well on this world cup.

argies were very good in this one,shows they are a top team now,they defused high balls well,defence was hard to penetrate,some of the best attackers in world,ABs,struggled to make headway,SBW was the gamebreaker though,my man of the match-whats with the hate Richie mob,must be most disliked forward in rugby,he's a great,appreciate it,I do
the thing is that we don't have any competition here in America. Argentina literally won all the Southamerican and American rugby championships. there's not a big support to rugby and not much years ago the sport still was amateur.
