Please hear me when i say...remove the wheels off your shelves. More weight they tip and I promise you it will make you cry. I have the same ones and found out the hard way. ✌ peace
Good system and kudos for being mindful at a young age on these matters! Tips: maybe anchor the shelving to the wall via zip ties and concrete screws for added stability and maybe get some crates (milk or produce crates are sometimes free at a local grocery or restaurant) or low boxes to keep cans from accidentally falling in case of a small earthquake.
Instead of rotating like with like new food with older dates in one location you have separated all the food by expiration date eliminating the need to rotate your stock. This only works if you have a lot of space and separate shelving but if you hate to rotate items this is brilliant.
This a a basement right? The salt is in cardboard on the bottom shelf. Any moisture or basement flooding and the salt cardboard dissolves and you get salt water destroying the cans. Salt causes things like metal cans to rust faster. That salt needs to be repackaged and moved upstairs away from the canned goods.
Hey, good job gotta get stated somewhere and this is good, don't get overwhelmed and keep it steady. If you ever want to put a big container with rice or beans, an oxygen absorber, is a good idea to keep it good. I too have been doing what I can to star my Preps, so I am happy to see someone in a similar boat.
Wow good job! I personally use the basic same method of dating the cans and storing them by month and year. 👍👍 Organizing by type of food ie: rows of green beans rows of chicken soup etc just doesn't work for me. When storing by month/year I can see what I have at a glance. You've got a real good start there. Keep adding extra a little at a time! 👍😃
@copperstone thanks for the input I just checked and it looks like the food in this video would last 2-3 Month’s. I’m going to make a follow up video soon on our other food.
As long as eat what you by an ROTATE your food labeling isnt needed. The more people stock up ,the better we all are if/when something personally or locally or nationally, globally happens.
Fantastic system. My only advice is DO NOT quit. Even if it is only an extra $5.00 a week, it will add up to months of on the shelf meals. Doing a January pantry challenge puts money back into the budget after the holidays and highlights gaps in your inventory for the upcoming years list.
I have a digital ledger that keeps my supplies and all categories of medicine , power outage supplies , sugars , tools ect, and food. Expirations and I can go in and remove the things that are coming up on dates. Keep going. You should have a bit more . When you split into disaster scenarios and make sub lists you can find out what your weaknesses are and pivot. For now buy more water and food in bulk. Longer lasting options prevent you spending money over and over for 1 year shelf life items

Thanks so much! glad I could learn the easy way I will be doing this sometime.

Thanks, my Dad wants to avoid anchoring anything to the walls for now.
Nice people here with respectful suggestions
Glad you are getting prepared.
It's a start. Need rice bagged up.
Need bay leaves for rice.flour.corn meal. Pancake mix etc. Great job and God bless everyone.
We recently did that!!

Good job, just keep adding.
Thank you, I will

That's a great idea!
Label the front of cans too if that's what you can see at a glance.
Might be worth it in the future, although I’ve already labeled the tops of the cans.
Good idea.
I also write the date on the Cans aswell. Helps others when you ask them to go get something.
I just did that last Saturday!!
Label the food on the cans incase the labels come off
Great Job! Keep it up! Some people also out the food type on the can just in case the label comes off or gets destroyed.
Great tip!
😮 I never thought of that!!! The stickers!! Saves so much time!! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉 yes!!! 🎉💪🏾🎉🎉🥳
👏 Great job
How long do you plan for this food to last and for how many people?
About six months for two persons at 2000calories a day. We also have food storage buckets not shown in this video.
@@kidprepper3040 I think it’d last 2 months at most but if you keep preppin you’d get enough for 6 months soon

Good start, but a long way to go
He is already ahead of 95% of the population already
@@NathanRoberts-rv5zk sad if that's true
@eternalvitality it is true less than 5% of the population would consider themselves preppers
Sorry but can good last 20 year .
Yeah but may as well use them.
You sound young, if so, I'm so glad you're prepping, you're being smart
Good work!!! Keep it up man!
Thanks! Will do!

Great Job ! 💞
Thank you!!

Hey, try a pricing gun to label each can with the date
Great idea, would be much easier than a marker
Research the expiration date. Your food is not bad.
We know, we just use this as a rotating pantry
You don't need those labels , lol
Must be nice. I am down to beans and 2 potatoes and Peanut Butter 😢
Learn the difference between best by and use by dates.
start canning your food
Pork is deadly.
Congratulations, you have enough food to feed me for two weeks.
Haha 😂
