That evening I met Dr. Borik for the first time, who by Divine Providence, was assigned to my wife. My wife began to recover that first night, and is still with us. Glory to God.

Why are there 2 spellings Sharbel and Charbel? Also, great presentation. I think of Christ actually having 8 wounds, not 6. The 5 we know, the 6th wound of the shoulder from carrying the Cross (as you point out), the Crown of Thorns and the Scourging on his back (multiple wounds, but I will sum it up as the “back wounds”.) Some history suggests he was Scourged 39 times, as 4O often killed a man.

It was not until after 1950’s that they use CHARBEL , as this is the French way to spell it. Both are acceptable. ( by the way I am Lebanese as well. Also, director of the new Saint SHARBEL Spiritual Life Center in Pittsburgh, PA, under the direction of The Eparchy of Brooklyn.
