My heart goes out to Sam. I followed him since his busking days with Ren. Sam is a good man with a big heart. This is my 2nd Christmas without my Wife. Peace.
Such admiration for this man. If you aren’t touched by this, you don’t have a pulse. The memories and his music will continue to comfort Sam. I lost both my parents before I was 22. I’m now 61yrs and there are still triggers and the tears start. Time doesn’t heal wounds, it just covers them up only for it to be ripped open again at the oddest times. But as a family we reminisce and remember them. Speak of them and they live on in us. When you lose someone life doesn’t get better with time - it gets different because you are different. Love to you also in your loss and thank you for your vulnerability and honesty. ❤️❤️

Someone told me once that comparison is the theft of joy... but I was introduced to Sam through being a fan of Ren.....
Ren is possibly one of the most talented musicians I've ever come across.... absolutely flawless, original, amazing lyricist, fantastic guitarist, pianist and songwriter... he lives and breathes misic and I love him for it.....
But jesus, everytime Sam sings any song he just gets me everytime straight in the heart and I can't help but be overcome with emotion ❤.

Most important thing to remember is that they want you love and live YOUR life. They lived there's as best they could and they always want better for you.
My dad is definitely my hero. Two battles with cancer and still kickin' it at 77. Those scary times softened my father. The man that couldn't give hugs or say the L word shed that persona. He is now a man that embraces us and says he loves us.
Sam is becoming a master at his craft. When you can stand up there alone and control a crowd?!?!?! That's Freddy, Michael, Prince energy right there.

I think one thing that kept him going was the love from everyone there. It was amazing to be there for a performance like this. After his last song (performed from in the middle of the crowd), he held up a home made sign that said "We did it Dad. Love Sam". Beautiful.

I lost my sister seven years ago and my mom one month ago to cancer. I have the honor privilege of raising my niece for seven years now and I believe that’s what’s got me through losing my best friend. my take on grief is that it does not get better with time it just morphs. Grief always starts out as sadness and sometimes hopelessness, but then it morph s as it ages. Sometimes I think my sister laugh and enjoy stories about her and sometimes I just sit and cry .Please when you have time do the big pushes “precious” if you haven’t done it. It’s about keeping that precious love in our hearts, even when the people are gone.

Laugh, yes. I won't relate my personal experience beyond this: Months into grief, I surfaced enough to realize I needed to begin to try. One of the things I did was search out anything that might make me laugh. The goal was to laugh out loud at least one time every day. You're right BP. The ache is never gone but laughter will definitely help lift you.

Yes thinking about this song and Ren’s tributes to his lost friend made me think of grief as a kind of contour of love. It tells you about the love that was there and remains there below the surface.

Your right B P. The pain doesn't go away. And you try to live with it. You may have people that rely upon you. So you move on with your life. But sometimes something brings back a memory. Even if it's a good one. The pain is still there. Maybe it's the pain that keeps those memories alive.
Some though can't live with it.
And they take their lives too.
Life is tragic sometimes. None the less it's still a blessing.

I’ve lost both my parents. But I was in my 50s and they in their 70s and 80s. One was declining and expected and the other, accidental and unexpected. That one hurts so much.
He had to get through this or never sing it again I expect. It was a powerful song before, and now more so.
always feel so bad for anyone who loses a parent this young.
His dad saw him succeed though, before he left.

I lost my mother to cancer as well at a time in life where girls are learning how to be women from theirs. It never gets easier and never goes away. And i felt you when you said her never meeting your daughter makes you break cause yes. Shell never meet her only grandson. It kills me that he'll never know her. Its just a stranger i tell him about. Thats soul crushing. This is why i love sam. He speaks his soul in a way we wish we all could. Love you mom. ❤
