Great tutorial. Thank you so much. I have tried out other techniques, but I find myself coming back to yours. If you are a perfectionist, Rafia is not a choice of material to work with, but your creations look perfect. (Not mine so much.) Is there any conditioner you would recommend to soften up the Rafia? Thank you again for sharing your talent and expertise.
Thank you so much. I'm glad my tutorial is helpful. My basket has some imperfections, that's part of its handmade uniqueness. I use rafia because it's cheap and I like the finished look. I don't use anything to soften my rafia, I guess you could try wetting it with water but my not sure if it would stretch and then shrink when dry. The rafia does soften as you work with it. Perhaps, you could run it through your hands to soften before use. You can use virtually anything that is pliable, can be made into strips and woven. Happy creating!
I think you could use anything that is flexible enough to weave and doesn't break too easily. You could try wool, string or thin fabric strips. Have fun experimenting! ❤
What a great demo on how to weave a basket.. thank you. ❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much! ❤🙏❤

Can you tell me what material you used to make the basket?
I used raffia. It's like paper string. Often found in craft shops in different colours. Hope that helps ❤

Can you recommend using something else instead of raffia?
