      Well, not exactly, bc those ppl have weaponized the DOJ against their political enemies, so of course they would expect others to do the same to them, even if they’re not guilty. I’m not implying that ppl like Fauci are innocent by any stretch, I’m just saying that accepting a pardon after the crap we’ve seen happen in this country, even if a person is innocent, isn’t at all surprising.

    Pardon powers in Article II section 2 says the President has the power to pardon those who committed “offenses” against the US. It does not give the President the right to preemptively pardon someone who has not been charged or convicted. We have had Presidents pardon people who have not been in prison, but they were convicted of a crime and were about to be sentenced. Preemptive pardons are not constitutional and will be overturned if someone takes it to the Supreme Court.

I definitely wouldn't want to go to prison for life or have my family members go to prison for a very long time if I could prevent that. But yes I agree that really shouldn't be a thing. It sets a very bad precedent making it more likely for future presidents or family members to think they can cry to their daddy if they commited a crime and then have their daddy pardon them or himself before they get out of office.

    When I was a young man in the military and later a veteran I listened to Imus for years on my way to work - even at work. And I had a weird love-hate thing for Matt. Listening to his stories about playing sports and traveling the USSR while doing nothing for his country irked me. All while I was going on counter drug missions in South America and working the no fly zone for Bosnia etc.
    At the same time his stories were intriguing and enjoyable while bothersome if that makes sense.
    He seems to have developed a love for his country and a patriotism that I’m really happy about. And after not hearing from him for years I have a new appreciation with no sense of animosity. Keep up the great work Matt. And Tucker! Always loved Tucker!

    The question is: pardoned for what crime? Someone will have to have the courage to charge them, then demand that they show what applicable pardon applies. It is so illogical that a blanket pardon is even a pardon by definition, I can't believe it would pass in any court - let alone pass in any appeals court.

    • @nobodyisprfct
      @nobodyisprfct 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Federal Pardons do not protect people from state laws. Pardons occur for several reasons right? Examples would be - 28 U.S. Code § 2513 - Unjust conviction and imprisonment - Or Coerced False Confessions, reduced sentences, but preemptive pardons without going through due process? Legal but highly debatable. Pardons do not exempt people from acts of Treason.
