Back in the day my friends used the Echoplex. I've been wanting to do the same since using DAWs and I thank you for the brilliant insight on how to make it possible again.

My heart dropped when you deleted what you created. Good thing you brought it back, it sounded cool 😎

Great tutorial THANKS. Just FYI: I had to add action "Track: Unarm all tracks for recording" before Track Duplicate tracks and after Crop active take in items to get it working.

Now I see why so many people act like reaper is the holy Grail of DAWs. Because it is!!

How would I do this with midi and a hardware synthesizer?

  • @FeritNecib
    @FeritNecib 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I have the same settings but when loop recording takes does not happen it records to the same midi

If anyone tried to select a region and couldn't do so, it's because your loop selection tool got locked. Simply hit "L" on your keyboard and you'll be able to select a region to loop.

I followed your steps creating custom action. My problem is that previous track is still in record mode and Reaper asks me if I want to record few tracks. What is the problem. Thank you

Hey, just happened the same to me. I fixed it by adding some actions. I uploaded a pic in case its useful for you:

Note: the SWS is not necessary , so you can ignore it if you don't have SWS extensions, but then you must be sure that before hitting recording, you had selected the track armed for recording.

I’m still an infant newbie at this but your videos are so enjoyable and informative. This one in particular is great especially when you have a melody bouncing around in your head and you need to get it out.
Can the recording be paused during the action?

Thanks again for this Keny. It is a really informative tutorial. I have one question for you after seeing this. Using the same method as you outlined in this video here, is it still possible to record while snap to grid option in the midi editor is on? So that we can always stay in key and scale while recording on the fly?

You can use the JS plugin called MIDI Snap to Key on your input fx and it will change the notes on the way in to fit the key you select.

Kenny, is there any way to use your midi keyboard instead of using a key stroke on your computer?

Can I put a Drum loop in channel 01 and then apply this "multi track looper" in channel 02?

  • @joshuajamesmusic

I think it should just crop to the active take automatically. It was very confusing for me at first. Anybody else see that as an issue?

Hmmm, nice try but it's a very imperfect Looper solution I'm afraid. If you compare to what can be done with a free 3rd party plugins like Mobius or natively in Ableton. I still learned some interesting things so thanks for that! ;-)

Kenny, I think you were born with an extra chromosome - the Reaper chromosome.
And I am thankful for that. Thank you.

The way he speaks is intolerable, speaks really fast, long pause, then cram another phrase in there, then long pause, on and on in a droning rhythm, it's ridiculous, especially when trying to explain complex subjects.
