A close friend of mine (deceased, unfortunately) had a an old LP of an arrangement (recomposition , actually) of what was probably the core aria from this opera. The arrangement was no less than an early work of Richard Wagner. I think it was a filler on a recording of Die Feen, Wagner's first opera. My friend loved anything Wagner; Wagner apparently thought the original aria was weak. The recording had both the the original aria and the the recomposed version, which was about twice as long. And yes, Wagner's version was indeed much stronger -- no surprise there.
