MY COUNSEL TO YOUNG GIRLS
I continue to serve as a board member at Tumutumu Girls High School for the second term running and appreciate the kind gesture by Principal Jane Mwangi and the board to speak to the 1579 students ahead of our meeting.
My mother gave me wise counsel years ago-words that speak strongly to my life to this day and shaped me into the person I have become.
I told the students to:
1) Make the right decisions. Decisions that will result in success.
2) Use their time properly.
3) Prepare for examinations through hard work, study, doing tests, and participating in discussion groups.
4) Keep the right company that promotes hard work and says no to alcohol, drug and substance abuse, and early pregnancies.
5) Pray, and trust God every step of the way.
I challenged the students with Galatians 6:7, 'Do not be deceived; God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap'. They must work persistently and consistently and stay committed to the purpose for which they came to school-their education.
Also remember Prov 23:7: As a man thinketh, so is he. Having the right mindset is critical for success.
Such conversations with students form part of the outreach program for schools under my office.
