as a German it always BAFFLES me how there's basically no public transportation in America. I always go home by train or bus or tube or whatever after a concert.
edit: to everyone saying Germany is only the size of one US state, YES, I know, but the great and organized public transportation also includes other European countries.
also, not an argument why it doesn't work in America. still baffling to me.

I definitely agree, but I think the issue was more related to 70,000 people leaving an event all at once. There likely wouldn't have been enough trains or buses either! A whole different level of infrastructure failure.
it is appalling how terrible our options are in a lot of cities.
In Germany there is special public transportation for events like this or even just the weekly soccer games in the big stadiums. It’s all organized and there is a bus like every 30 seconds leaving from the nearest train station to the stadium.
Only the biggest cities have reliable public transportation, especially that runs all night. In my tiny county of 40,000 people, in rural California our bus system literally only runs 3 times a day. It’s sad and negatively affects so many here.
Tbf your whole country is about the size of the state of Arizona lol
carrie!!!! i met you and sierra at the concert and it truly made the whole night that much better😭 (i was the one with the pink hair) but GIRL you aren’t lying about the uber situation at the end. my friends and i are from NJ so we were SCREWED we didn’t get home till like 5am it was very intense. but at least i know we weren’t the only ones who struggled😂

CARRIE this is the number one mistake people make when going to a sold out show or anything remotely big!!! Pre plan your Ubers before you get to the concert or you will have to wait hours to get an Uber. This has happened to me 2 times before, getting stranded in hotels while it’s raining and them asking us to leave (rave concerts). Then when I started pre planning my Ubers I’ve never had to deal with this ever again. It’s def a learning experience and I hope this doesn’t happen to you and the girls again! ❤️❤️❤️

Next time rent a limo or a small bus round trip (to and from event). They often get special venue parking so get out fast. Worth it!!
I'm only 5 minutes in and I am smiling ear to ear. I love seeing fellow swiftie adults have the time of their lives. my best friend and I are seeing Taylor in Tampa in just over TWO WEEKS and we're making a whole weekend of it. I can't WAIT AND I AM LOVING having this vlog to get me excited for my show :)
Well, I might be 67 and not know much about Taylor (sorry but I got stuck in the sixties and seventies) but I went to so many concerts in my day since about 1971 I think. I get the vibe and the buildup to that darkening arena. Let the show begin. Hope you all had a great time!

After hearing all of these stories, I am SO glad I booked a hotel that is a 15 min walk from Lumen Stadium in Seattle. Booked the same day I managed to get tickets and paid what I thought was way too much. 💯 okay with that decision now. Comfy shoes here I come!
There aren’t hotels close enough to the LA venue 😭 my hotel is 1.5 miles away 💀
Glad you guys had a great time, sucks alot of people had to wait for ride home. Few of my friends are going to Taylor Swift concert, they were going to get a ride share but after hearing what happened in Arizona they all decided to book a hotel close to where the concert will be so all they have to is walk after the concert is over

I saw My Chemical Romance in Philly last year and ended up walking 2 miles back to my hotel. Parking and ride shares at concerts can get so wild! Glad you all got home safely!
I’m so excited I’m going to eras in Atlanta Ga on April 29th (which is iconic because of the lyrics in high infidelity) also I’m doing the bejeweled outfit but I had a hard decision I almost went with the midnights dress like you did I love it!!! I’m so excited I am a huge swiftie too I have loved every album since the beginning. I also went to the speak now tour in 2011 she definitely puts on a show ♥️

I feel like cities should plan ahead when they know there is big concerts or festivals on!
Like Friday I was in Melbourne australia, for a music festival where there was 50,000 people. This festival was only in 3 cities so a lot of people traveled for it. The poor trams like first one got so packed managed to get on the second one but like omg sardines in a can.
Just baffles me that cities don’t plan ahead ? When they know how many people will be at these events
My show isn’t until May but we specifically booked a room at a hotel within walking distance of our venue because we thought it would be easier than trying to drive or ride share. Feeling good about that decision now lol. Sorry you had that little mishap with the Ubers but other than that seemed like a great time. I am so excited for my show!!!!

i had a very similar experience getting back to my airbnb after the weeknd's concert at soldier field. we had to walk for an hour and a half to get an uber and the ubers couldn't get to us because so many streets were blocked off. it honestly felt like it could be a potential safety issue, as there was a designated ride share area, but no one knew how to get to it, including security guards at soldier field. everything turned out alright for me, but i know some people who talked about feeling unsafe and being unable to get home for hours.

Omg I’ve been waiting to watch! I went the day after you and it was SO GOOD 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I’m planning on going again to Denver haha. I drove myself there since I live in the East valley, and honestly I didn’t even get out of the parking lot til after midnight. So it was wild even driving yourself.

It's crazy how these events don't have transportation down. I went to a music festival last year, they had you park a few miles from the event and then you had to shuttle, which is all fine and cool, except the line for the shuttle was 2 hours long and you didn't even have the option to walk. Missed a bunch of bands we wanted to see. Like how did they not anticipate that! lol
T.Swift's popularity has now defeated both Ticketmaster's and Uber's technology. She is legend.
It's not hard to exhaust an Uber supply though. It happens just from bars closing at 2am in a lot of places.

I was thinking about this and wondering if Uber had communicated with local Ubers, urging them to be available that night (I realize they're contractors and can choose when they work). I also wonder where the taxi companies were? What a major fail on a completely predictable level of demand.
I heard pretty similar thing about the bad bunny show in nyc and that's even with a lot of people taking the subway and the city generally having a lot of rideshare drivers.

Omg, had the same experience getting an Uber at the reputation tour!! Learned our lesson and we drove, parked right by an exit at like 3pm and got out immediately and were back at the hotel by 12!
Ahhh the anxiety I would have felt after the show! Insane

In Argentina for these massive events and when is far, they're a lot of buses and vans that charge you to leave you in certain points of the city, you can reserve in advance or at the moment because it gets crazy

I remember going to a one direction concert and the same thing happened we literally had to walk 3 miles to get to our friends car who got out of bed to come get us because you literally couldn’t get in to the stadiums parking lot it was crazy
I went to the Vegas show (second night) and I'm so glad I was able to organize a ride to and from the stadium. I'm also a Vegas local, though, so I had several people able to chauffer us around lol

My hot top for ubering after a concert is walk as far away from the stadium as you can, it becomes way easier to get an uber after walking somewhere!

I went the night after you did and it was literally a spiritual experience I will NEVER recover from
Oh my gosh my husband and I went to Rolling Loud in Queens, NY last year and the same thing happened! None of the ubers could get to us because of the crazy traffic and roads being blocked off. So even when it seemed like we had an uber they would cancel on us or just drive nowhere near us. And it was literally freezing outside. And everyone was just standing in this random parking area they designated for ride shares. It was nuts and we waited hours!! After being at the festival all day! And we are from a fairly small city in Indiana so it was quite a shock for us haha!
We had a similar experience when we left the stadium after seeing Harry Styles! The Uber’s also more than doubled in price, we paid £9 on the way there and £38 when we left!
Yessss! This vlog came at the perfect time… I just got back from the Eras tour on Saturday in Vegas and I am in a deep post-concert depression. I will never emotionally recover from it!!!
I literally didn’t even CONSIDER ubering because I KNEW something like that would happen. I parked at the movie theater and walked over to the stadium and ended up getting out within 5 minutes without traffic 😂

Phoenix does have public transport but I believe it stops running at a certain time of night.

During glendale night 2 We left right after All too well because we had to travel 4.5 hours back home. Hotels were full so we couldn't stay in town. We went thru a lot going back home, my cousin and I were super tired and took turns driving while one of us slept. We didn't get home til 5:30 in the morning. It looks like we all struggled getting home. Hopefully our next concert experience will go smoothly for all of us 🤧🤧
when I lived in Nashville and went to see the rep tour we were stranded for hours downtown for the same reason. Already trying to figure out what to do for this one because omg it's terrible
When I saw Ed Sheeran in like 2018, it absolutely poured with rain and in Sydney where it was, there was no public transport (just buses). I remember trying to get an Uber for 3 hours and having to walk to different places to try and get one while being more drenched than I have ever been in my life. But it was worth it 😂
Have a safe flight to and from Japan. I’m glad you and sierra and all the girls got to have this awesome experience, but also yikes on the transportation.

Girl this gave me flashbacks of when me and my friend wore heels to a Beyonce concert (at Gillette Stadium Taylor’s fav place to perform btw!). We walked a MILE in bare feet back to the car at the end of the night. By the time we finally got there our feet were demolished and bleeding :’) I don’t have tickets to see Taylor and now I’m having extreme fomo! Looked like so much fun!

If anyone is in my city and can't get a ride share, then I definitely approve of them calling and waking me up! (I do live in a metro area with decent public transport, but for stupid reasons the city with the huge arena has none.)

I go to a lot of concerts and unfortunately what you experienced is pretty par for the course. It’s crazy that the city would not plan ahead better. Leaving riot fest last year someone was pushed on the railway by a crowd and died

This was exactly the same as after Harry Styles in Brisbane! Getting an Uber was tragic…so many people just raided this McDonalds that was like over a kilometre away trying to get a ride. The concert finished like before 10pm and we didn’t get back to our hotel and into bed until like 1am…

I’m going alone and I’m so stressed another getting to the venue and leaving. I wanted a hotel but the day of pre sale hotels were already $800+ within walking distance. And I can’t risk trying to get an Uber for a hotel further out. I guess I might just end up staying in my car all night 😅 it’s also a city I hate driving in under normal circumstances.. ugh lol
I went to night 2 in AZ and my parents dropped us off and picked us up, and we were stuck in the parking lot for no joke 3 hours just trying to get out! And so many people were stuck there that night also, but this night there were tons of private vehicles for hire like Limos and Vans etc waiting to drive people, but the prices were so insane. Honestly it was crazy. But that said BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE
When did you leave for the concert? I'm worried about time and I don't know when I should try to get to the venue and how long the wait for everything is....

The lack of public transport in the U.S is insane for me. It‘s almost bad manner to come by private car to a big event like this in my country. Authorities ask you explicit to take public transport.

I went to a red hot chili pepper concert this past summer at sofi and couldn’t get an Uber after and it was chaotic. We decided since our hotel was someone walkable we would walk home… at midnight…. In Inglewood. Let’s just say we walked very fast lol.
