- Dark Fest 2023 is here! I finally got the chance to come and ride the biggest MTB free ride jumps in the world! The best free ride mountain bikers and Slopestyle riders come together to ride this insane course, and do tricks on jumps with 7 meter take off ramps and a 90 foot sender! We did a course walk, got the chance to ride the sick Hellsend compound and finally made it up to the course with our bikes ready to try to trick step up and hit some flat out free ride hits! Not directly related to this video, but can we all acknowledge that Tom Isted, one of the only riders at Darkfest who doesn't have a frame sponsor hit the 110' first (probably the biggest dirt to dirt MTB jump in the world), on a frame he bought for £300. Absolutely insane and fair play to everyone participating, Matt included👊

When Matt gets that psyched you know it's a very special trail.
our trails here are pretty sick lol
Whenever I ride the trails on the opposite side of the valley, I stop and glance across at this line. And from a distance, gazing up at that mountain you can see how absolutely enormous those jumps are. My mind is blown everytime I see them. Matt's POV run towards that step-up is probably the most realistic representation of the speed required to jump it, and then still it felt like he wasn't going to make it. Insane sounds like an understatement of note.

@@tristansutton371 Helsend is open to the public as far as I'm aware, but the Darkfest line is only used on this occasion.

@@alexdubose9064 not even remotely. I ride Enduro, not free style. Biggest jumps I do are maybe in the 15 - 20 ft region.

That "warm-up" area looks absolutely AMAZING! The real Dark Fest jumps actually make me sick to my stomach though 😆 Unreal!!
I'd like to think on my very best day I could hit the smaller warm up line, but I would need a morning of warm up jumps for the warm up jumps !

Crazy... one jump at Darkfest covers the whole playground if you include the run-up and landing. Matt, I think you're going to need to buy more land because it's addicting to jump massive jumps. So glad to watch you do this! I was a national junior downhill champion in the late 90’s in Zimbabwe and also raced MX. It’s mad how far things have come these days. Those jumps are bigger than most MX jumps.
