    Carlo's,
    Excellent video and content man! Sorry, I missed meeting up with you when I was down in Dallas for the Vette's for Vet's Corvette Show at Black Rifle Coffee Co.
    Our turn out was pretty good and we raised money for a great cause!
    I'm glad you did a Borla Atak detailed exhaust video. I really like Borlas for an upgrade option and your video helped significantly!

  • @ganymede3141

    Of course the carbon fiber tips will yellow. They are mounted to the hot exhaust without any kind of shielding or insulation, and the matrix (resin) of that composite starts falling apart above 200F, which those tips definitely get to, and even higher. Composites (other than ceramic matrix) are a bad idea for high temp applications.

    Just so you know. If you have headers, it isn’t up to the dealer to say yes or no to your warranty. When they put in the report in the parts needing replacements, they have to add that you have headers and 100% of the time Chevy will deny it. Whether your dealer says it’s ok or not.

    Hey Carlos, as usual your videos are awesome.
    I’m about to pull the trigger on an exhaust and I’m torn between the s type and atak…
    The atak sounds deeper, although online the style is said to be deeper.
    I can’t tell 100% which is better, or their respective loudness.
    Any thoughts and advice is appreciated.
    TIA

    • @NuHorizonC8
      @NuHorizonC8  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Joe nice! I would say the ATAK is going to be the way to go. The ATAK has a significantly deeper exhaust note and is noteably louder than the S-Type. I've heard the S-type a handful of times and honestly its underwhelming for me but that's because I prefer loud and deep exhaust notes. But it comes down to personal preference and what is most important to you. Hope that helps! Thanks again for the compliment and comment!

    • @NuHorizonC8
      @NuHorizonC8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chatura! So mine was one of the first to be installed in the country when it was first released by Borla. So I had a dealership do the install by certified corvette technicians. The job was about $1k to do the install. Alil pricey but within the wheelhouse of typical costs especially since not as many exhaust installs were done at the time. Nowadays you can get it installed out of dealership with alittle bit of research at a good aftermarket parts shop. Only ups or down is depending on your dealer, you may run into issues where they may be apprehensive to do the install . If you run into a dealer like that, then best to go to another dealer/installer. Hope that helps 👍

    • @NuHorizonC8
      @NuHorizonC8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Cragar thanks for the feedback! 👍So mine was a bit unique in that it was one of the first Borlas to get installed on a C8 back when it was first released. Because of that, I let a service dealer with certified corvette techs do the install since it was so new at the time. Now adays, you could probably get a mods shop or most dealers with corvette techs to do the install for you or even do it yourself. Its not a terribly difficult install but youll need the rear completely lifted to remove the wheels and rear bumper. Its also one of those installs having an extra set of hands is going to be superr helpful as well. But its a bolt on type system so theres no drilling into anything. Just remove and replace of the oem exhaust. Id say a level of difficulty maybe a 3 out of 5. So someone with reasonable knowledge on how to work on a car will be able to knock this out. Id feel comfortable enough to do this install myself if I had to do it on my own. Hope that helps! 👍

    • @NuHorizonC8
      @NuHorizonC8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Nosh. So theres no drone with the BORLA system and is pretty similar in quietness when cruising and the rpms are under 2.5k. You only really hear it when you want to be either at medium to higher rpms or hard accelerations. You can have a regular conversation and phone calls with ease while cruising essentially.

    • @NuHorizonC8

      Hey Aldo. Yes this has been fixed by Borla to my understanding. Also as an added peace of mind, when my tips peeled and yellowed (mine was one of the first to be produced so there was a bit of troubleshooting going on) it was covered for replacement at no extra charge. So even if you have issues, itll be covered under the Borla warranty.

      If you look at purchasing from Borla directly yes. But id recommend purchasing from a third party like Paragon. Especially on holiday deal, you can save yourself some money buying through them and even with install cost itll end up cheaper. Difference is buying the exhaust separately from a factory order means you need to pay for the exhaust and install out of pocked or finance seperately as compared to rolling it into your car payments by adding it on as a factory option.

    • @NuHorizonC8
      @NuHorizonC8  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its definitely much louder and makes the car for me! Yeah the check engine light can happen early on. It may help to have the dealer recalibrate the NPP valves (as recommended by Borla), even if they already did it during install. It takes them less than 15 minutes so they shouldn't complain. • @NuHorizonC8
      @NuHorizonC8  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Dev! 👍 So my experience with it so far is that its entirely dependent on the dealership on whether they honor a warranty or not and the parts associated with it. Ive come across where one dealer will honor a warranty but another may not. But in general, if you have an aftermarket exhaust system (including headers) installed and your transmission blows, youll be covered warranty wise because those are independent systems and a dealer should honor it if that makes sense. Also i plan on installing headers and highflow midcats and im pretty confident im covered for any other major warranty service not associated with the exhaust system.

      Hey Fred thanks for the comment. Considering my Borla was one of the first off of their manufacturing line I give them a bit of a pass on those issues as those early batch issues happen. I get it that granted they shouldnt have issues come up to begin with but thats where the warranty comes in that they honored with no problem at all. I havent met another C8 Borla owner who has experienced those issues thus far. Also they were willing to send a whole new shield or exhaust for that matter had I requested but I was planning to remove the heat shield at a later time anyway to do some thermal testing in a future video so I didnt bother.
