I changed mine out about a month ago, the dealer wanted just over $500.. took about 45 minutes to change it out. I even broke apart the filter to see if there was anything significant... It's a pretty easy job, I didn't even have to remove the black cover, basically to save some time.. having that lift is definitely an easier way to perform this task, I used ramps.. old school! lol.. thanks for the video!!
I've read that the factory manual recommends chasing the DCT cover threads with a tap to remove any residual thread locker. I do not have a manual to reference for verification but will probably do this as it is not difficult or time consuming.
The filter change procedure calls for the threads in the DCT filter housing to be chased before installing the new bolts! If not done the torque will be far off resulting in fluid leaks. It is step 1 of the installation half of the procedure. The original bolts are installed with some sort of thread locker that may interfere with the proper torquing of the bolts if is not cleaned. The new bolts come pre-treated with some sort of thread locker as well. That is the reason for cleaning the threads in the bolt holes, and also for using the new bolts.
Drinking 2 or 3 16 oz beers while working on a new Corvette. This is how you skip steps, forget parts, cross thread or strip bolts, etc. The beer can wait guys!! Leather gardening gloves, a clown show!!!!
I don't have a car lift. I'll be coming to your place to change the DTC filter when it's time to do that job.

When you opened up the old filter, was it visibly contaminated?

Dealers price for the dct filter change is crazy, nice job, nice property!
Thanks!
I was quoted from a dealership for a DCT filter at $900.00
@@vertisjohnson219It’s a $500 job at the dealer… max. Anything more is a ripoff
Chevy told me $1,700
Great Job! Keep bringing us C8 content! What exhaust is on that car? 😊😊
Great video! With the money you saved him get that boy an AWE Track exhaust!!
Has has sport cats ready to go on but for some reason he’s being a bit of a pussy when it comes to putting them on!

Yes, the new bolts come with thread locker already on them. This is the 2nd car I’ve done in this manner and no fluid leaks whatsoever
nothing better than having a few cold ones with friends working on a car ...
If I owned a corvette I would leave the damn plates off it’s a heat trap and it don’t do that much for undercar drag it’s bs
Any link or part number for the lift? Thanks
Sick wheels, love em
Do you remember the part number for the DCT filter?
How is on GM record it was done
Don’t forget the dealership will have you waiting for hours!
do you need to add any trans fluid to account for the fluid that is lost on changing the filter?
We’ve already added the extra 2 litres of DCT fluid to this car, so there’s no need to add what was lost
Tremec should have made a regular type filter that could be easy changed makes no sense gotta take a plate off to get a filter out stupid

His car, his choice:)
Well I agree but it’s his life and he is a grown man Who is anybody to judge
@@roymoxley2587. WHAT?? I didn't say they can't drink beer and work on a $100k car, I'm simply saying it's not a good idea.
Nothing like consuming alcohol while working on your $100K+ car....😁
We drink responsibly. Lol
Fools!!

Stock exhaust on the one we did the filter change on. The other had 2M sport cats and Fabspeed exhaust
@@WRPDRIVE It sounded louder than stock. Must have been the echo in the garage?
@@casmithc2 Most likely. We have a set of 2M sport cats for it but he’s on the fence whether to install them or not
@@WRPDRIVE Why would he not want more sound and power?
@@casmithc2 You have the chance of causing CELs. Also, Sport Cats often do not make power or 5hp in depending on the manufacturer.
