After 18 months of ownership, I'm turning the page on the 87.

    Hey, thanks for the complete shot of the frame "seal" as Toyota calls it starting at 0:07. Mine went missing a long time ago but they're easily remade with some 1/16" rubber sheet. It's hard to find one intact and installed on an old IFS Toyota for reference.

      @dadgarage7966 Are you talking about the rubber thing that hangs down inside the wheel wells? I have all r of them on both of mine. 84 and 87. I don't know if they are original or someone made them.

      @@natalied989 Yes, the rubber skirt covering the gap between the body and frame. It looks original or someone did a good job at making a replacement. They tend to rot and tear and people just toss 'em.

      @joemorris3617 LOL thank you. It's been difficult but I've reached the acceptance stage of my grief.

    Same 4runner! Mines an 87 sr5 turbo, but been converted NA awhile ago.

      @lonerider5315 I have. And I dont like them :( Just a matter of taste but a little too "Night Rider" for me lol. They are cool though. I'm just more of an analog girl at heart.

    My 80 2wd pickup is the same brown as your 84 runner. I call her keisha 😂

      PARTY DOWN BROWN, BABY! LOL . But seriously. Brown is the best color for these. I named my 87 Willie Nelson. Just a super nice, mild mannered old man who puts up with all my shit and keeps rolling along .

    I don't have faith that dash paint job is going to survive the test of time. Plastic just hates paint. I think i burned my retnas just getting a glance at it as well. I feel that red would be a tough one.

    • @natalied989
      @natalied989  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's horrible. But it's probably been there for years. They actually did a really great job with the application. I question the decision making though. I'd love to bring it back to beige but they put in oem red carpet., seats and all the plastic trim so it'd be really hard to find all that stuff and get it back to original. I was thinking of rubbing some brown dye on it to bring it down to maroon maybe but either way I hate red. So maroon ain't much better.

      @@natalied989 I agree with the brown, but if the rest of that interior is staying the current colors, I would just go black. Coverage would prolly be way better.

    You should keep this one and sell the white. Solid axles are cool for bro-clout and weekend warriors, IFS better for daily (I have both). Plus you have the best factory color combo available (minus the dash:)

    • @natalied989
      @natalied989  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I do sell one it would probably be the while one. I'm not a big fan of the straight axle. It's heavy and slow but I do like the simplicity of the 22r. I absolutely hate the efi system on the 87. But I love the vehicle itself.
