The initial accurate drawing was very important. Your follow up also skillful. Good job all round.

Wow, for such a complicated scene, you buzzed right through it! Looks great! I am also self-taught and only started painting about 4 years ago when we retired. You inspire me so much! Love your loose style, too. Thanks so much for thewe great tutorials.

I’m trying a very different scene and using acrylics and working from an image in my head, but following a similar loose approach starting with a rough sketch in pencil. I like that acrylic can be very like water colour and initially fill the shapes like that. Next stage the paint is a bit thicker, give the shapes more depth. Finally undiluted acrylic for detail effects, pretty thick so it doesn’t dry to quick and because I like the feel of the bumps.
Robert inspires here not so much because of techniques or I could paint so well, but because painting is an adventure and anything is possible.
Agree with attitude towards AI. It’s just a tool, can be very useful, but excessive hype both negative and positive. Reference images for current painting isn’t the spirit, but some bits, eg roofs, I have problems with so use copilot to generate images of roofs.

Rob, you have done an excellent job with a very difficult subject! My husband said he loved your painting more than the photo & I agree! I’m excited to get painting soon now that we’re back. You are an inspiration! Thank you so much. I loved when you said “ you’ve got to have faith…”(about the color). Will watch to the end to see the final touches, couldn’t wait to comment. BRAVO! Where is this AI site? 💕

Thanks for your feedback. It was a very tricky painting. There are many AI engines, still trying them out. Pixlr is one. This was from a royalty free photo site called pexels.
