  • This is a quick unboxing of Ollie cooked dog food. This is a human grade dog food that is cooked and then shipped fresh directly to you. It is flash frozen to ensure it reaches you safely and then can be placed into your refrigerator or freezer. It is one of the leading options out there for those looking for a high quality, human grade, lightly cooked dog food that can offer significant improvements in the quality of diet and overall health for your dog compared to traditional kibble. Like many other cooked dog food delivery services/companies, you create a profile for your dog and select your shipment schedule. Similar to other cooked dog food subscription services the profile and recommendation are customized to your dog's age, weight, breed, and other profile information. In this initial impression and unboxing, we talk about what the initial experience is like unboxing the dog food and what you can expect.
This is not a full in-depth review. We will be covering recipes, cost, taste testing, sourcing and production and much more in our updated review of Ollie in 2019. In addition, we will have a video comparing 10 different cooked dog food companies.

I started with Farmer's Dog then tried Ollie, here's how it went. My maltese babies, well one if them is pickier than picky, so we were using farmers dog and the first shipment was great, my babies ate it and it was great. So the next ones start coming in and my poor babies stopped eating it and I noticed we started only getting mostly broccoli and watery liquid. It was just mostly chunks of broccoli stem stalks. The food from farmers dog aesthetically does looks better than these at Ollie to be honest. So we switched from farmers dog because my dogs can't live off of broccoli so I really hoped this Ollie stuff looked better and tasted better than it looked, yikes!! **** update Ollie was a disaster. Everyone of my packs were sliced open on my very first delivery so every bit of that dog food had to be trashed and wasted. I cannot believe they have that piss poor quality control JUST SAY NO TO OLLIE and now I'm back looking for a new quality company

Most well done detailed review on Ollie I’ve found so far. The organ meat thing was one of the big reasons why I liked Ollie better than other ones out there.

Thanks, what has been your experience with Ollie so far. Has the visual element been similar to what I found with the most recent review.
Enjoy the rest of your day! Give your dog a treat from me.

So in my experience if that was the quality control on the very first order they sent out to me which would be their first impression I would be inclined to believe that anything could be going on with this dog food and they are not having any quality control before shipping

Thanks for your feedback and update. I feel consistency wise the best I have seen has been Just Food Dogs when it comes to cooked dog food. Beyond that smaller companies may also be an alternative like Evermore. That being noted you may want to checked out Raised Right or Sundays as they have a simplified ingredient composition and I feel are superior to Ollie or Pet Plate or the Farmers Dog.

How many ounces are in each little packet? I want to order for my dog and she’s about 20 lbs.

It is not fixed. This is covered in my review if you check it out. This video was just a general boxing. The profile that you create determines the "amount" of food/ounces you will get. This is one of the big differences when considering cooked dog food as opposed to a kibble, canned, dehydrated, raw or air dried dog food. Pretty much only Raised Right offers you a fixed amount per bag, all others will vary depending on the profile you create. I will note you can generally feed less on a fresh diet as opposed to a more processed diet. A new option you might want to consider that I will be covering very shortly is "Sundays" human-grade dog food, it is a new air dried dog food which I really like. I would approximate that one 72oz box would last you around a month and be considerably lower cost than Ollie. I also has the advantage of being USDA certified beef, no prep and no fridge, does not use synthetic vitamins ( which most cooked dog foods do except for Raised Right and Evermore ) and also has no excess carbs like potatoes or peas. You have some great additional antioxidants and anti inflammatory ingredients as well. Hope this helps and thanks for the view and comment. On a side note if you want because it is air dired you can also warm up some bone broth and serve with Sundays and you have a super combination.
