Some very important details that I missed when I was watching this cutscene for the first time: 1:19 John slams and drops Jerome's book to the ground (which we know from meeting Jerome earlier has a revolver in it). 1:45 Jerome gets hit and knocked down, and while everyone is distracted he swaps back John's book to his own. 3:41 Jerome tries to remind Deputy about the gun in his book by looking in Deputy's eyes and subtly tapping the book. Very cool detail!
5:52. It could be a mistake but also makes sense if not. If you notice, someone shouts out "gun" even before the bind is opened. Everyone was so focused on the deputy's reaction that they didn't notice the book was swapped. It seems they already assumed from the start that Jerome's book had a gun in it. So when the deputy placed his/her hand on the book, the cultists only then turned their attention back to it and realized what was about to happen. Makes a little more sense of how on earth the cultist on the left was able to react fast enough to save John.
I really with there was some more variety in this scene, practically the same thing happens whatever you choose. This game would have been amazing if it gave you some more choice.
I mean, they basicaly do that at the beginning where you can end the game by not handcuffing joseph. but yeah, it's far cry, a story driven shooter, not the witcher, a choice driven RPG.

Ye, I'm completely disappointed, if you decide to give player a choice, make a reason for that. For example, walking away at the beginning is a good example. Glad I'm not the only one disappointed with the lack of choice.

I then refused to say "Yes" just to be a rebellious shit to John, and when Jerome said "Just say yes", I figured John would kill him and I'd have to start the cutscene over.
Same here. I never noticed it in the van crash cutscene and only knew about it from the trailer, and even then I just forgot about it. Edit: He drops the gun in the bible after he shoots the guy in the van.
I like that john seed makes you look like a fool after finally catching you in a trap when not succeding with all of his hundreds of people i killed alone. Then 2 of his people take him and help him run away like a girl😂 and still tries to fly away
When i played far cry 5, i never said yes to joseph which is why im watching this now, and when i saw that the result was pretty much the same i said to myself, "Come on. That's fucking cheap."
Jerome signals to you that he has his book. Which carried his gun. In reality all you were doing was letting him get beat despite you knowing he was signaling to you to use the gun.
