I don’t see the little “poof” that you speak of! Just had this conversation with my boss at the clothing store I work in. We each talk about our perceived flaws and body changes but we don’t see them on each other. While it’s good to accept the changes, more often than not, they are really only noticeable to ourselves. ♥️

Hey Erin, You are amazing. I purchased a sweater dress that is body skimming and it comes to just above the knee. When I tried it on I said not to be for size 14 gal! I feel it's important to have some grace for yourself! We women are always hard on ourselves life is hard enough be good to yourself and be healthy and not to indulgent. Easier said than done! Happy hump day everyone!

The thing to remember is if you think you look good and feel good in it, you probably will. Over 50, or any age, we should dress for ourselves and not for the male gaze or any other gaze, nor do we need to show acres of flesh to look sexy. Confidence is very sexy. And look at the way most men dress? Is it sexy, of course not. We are our own worst critics. Enjoy your new dress!

  • @rachellepennington6596

Really needed to see this today because I’ve been talking myself out of new jeans even though I’m desperately in need because I’m “not there yet.” Also, the current trend of oversized everything just looks frumpy on most women d’un certain âge. The looks you showed are sleek and sophisticated while being just sexy enough. If we all start seeing ourselves as vibrant and beautiful at any age (or size) maybe we can shift the culture away from the belief that beauty belongs solely to the young.

    • @BusbeeStyle
      @BusbeeStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You nailed it when you were talking about the confidence level in your previous video. I used to have very low confidence because I didn’t accomplish something I always wanted to. Later I had spent many years of my life working on it. Now I feel much better about myself after finishing my graduate school. When you can nail down what you need to boost your confidence and could check it off, it is the great feeling. I am rooting for you or anyone because I know exactly how you feel.

Erin, this video came at the perfect time! There seem to be so many form-fitting or body con trends coming through this season - so this video is great for giving us all that confidence boost. I've also noticed that as we get older, not only do we question ourselves but also younger women have a tendency to tell us what we can wear! I hope there are women of all ages that watch your video and know that if you feel confident, stylish or dare I even say sexy in what you wear - own it - and if you see another woman rocking it, whatever her age, give her a compliment and share the love!!!!! Xx

I 💯 agree that we need to accept and love our body as it is and focus on the positive things in our body. So what if our body shows up, it is so true that we judge ourselves more than needed and we just need to let it go because in other people's eyes we are beautiful..it's time to give ourselves the permission to feel and look sexy we still have this spark so let's enjoy it!!

I teared up when you were talking about body image. I am reaching a certain age where hormones start to wane, and I find myself battling an extra 20 pounds of weight when it was never an issue before. The result is that I stopped caring about how I dressed, which is the opposite of what I should be doing. Thanks for the inspiration you give us all!

  • @andie3614

Hey Erin, love the inspiration - being a bit older, we can rock the subtle but sexy look with beautiful fabrics and shapes. I have been going for coated jeans this season in lieu of leather, they are more forgiving and easy to put with a monochrome sexy soft sweater that make you look straight from the après-ski (I live in Switzerland!)

Erin, you look amazing in everything, not only that, you make us ALL feel that we can too. That is what I LOVE about you and your platform. Menopause has caused me to shrink, yep 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch shorter, I knew it but two years ago I pulled out some pants (special occasion dressy pants) in my closet that were the perfect length when I bought them (in the late 90's early 2000's) and had to roll them up just to wear them.

appreciating how you approached this with subtlety and sensitivity. Smiling at the cut-out trend: have talked about this with my sister, we both grew up in 80s and 90s, been there/done that, hard NO. I do love the body-skimming knit, though, just without the chunks missing!

I think that fashion choices, regardless of age, should really reflect who you are as a person as well. I just turned 53 last week, and I absolutely love shopping at places like Hot Topic and Dolls Kill, which are definitely geared towards women much younger than me. But I really like my "eccentric" side to show, and many outlets that are for women my age just seem so...dull. You just don't go for the stuff that shows too much skin, and it's really pretty easy to put together an outfit that shows your creativity while also being flattering. (I also have a great collection of colorful wigs from Amazon that are super cheap that I wear, as I lost a ton of hair due to a major illness last year. And everywhere I go, I get compliments on both the outfits AND the wigs.) ❤️

Additionally, if you can't walk in those dumb spike heels everyone seems to love these days, but like the added height, Dolls Kill has an amazing selection of chunky platform heels that are to die for. I personally love my 5 inch Mary Janes. 🙂

You ever look at past photos of your younger self? And you think about all the things you were self conscious about while you were younger...while you realize just how great you looked in the past and just how silly you were to be self conscious? That's how your older self will see your now self, so rock what you got like your 75 year old self is whispering in your ear how great you really look.

I love this and the last video. I’m 67 and have maintained a 60 pound loss for 6 months. The eating well is the easy part. I’m learning to appreciate this physical form and all it is for me. I do see my saggy skin and flattened butt…and smile. I think there are so many beautiful women who miss their own beauty. So I cut off my T-shirt sleeves and cropped them to wear at home so when I pass the mirror I will stop and smile. I love that black dress and the peplum top, and all the rest. I live in a small rural ranch town so… high rise flared jeans, leather belts and boots and little lace will work for me here. Loved seeing you today.

Awesome video! The best line: it doesn’t matter what size you are. This is the truth! I have seen plenty of larger framed women that were totally rocking something that I couldn’t imagine myself doing. Let’s all wear fun stuff! Life is too short.

Thank you. I love what you say about wearing what you want and not denying yourself the pleasure of the piece because you have a tummy. At my age I’m always asking others if I’ll look like foolish in this or that. I tend to pick unusual pieces and especially shoes. So I’m concerned I’m too “out there “. Anyway I really enjoy your videos. Thanks again.

Erin, you are great! I have always asked myself what is perfect? I think it is a society generated ideal that not everyone can really find the true definition of. I loved how you put it to us the other day, ''if you feel good, you look good'' . I have suffered with graves disease for many years and my weight has gone on a roller-coaster ride, so I have had to deal with a lot of different emotions and style changes to try and find myself. I am over it all already! I think if I am going to love myself then I just have to find clothes that make me feel good and must say if you wear something that really fits then you look better than trying to dress oversized and then you appear oversized (oh & I am also petite 1.62m) Wishing you well from Sunny SA! You rock Erin!

Thank you for this video. I needed to watch this. I just gave birth 3mos ago and haven't felt like myself since. I look at myself in the mirror and i feel ugly. I don't even want my partner to hug me in bed at night 'cos i feel so self conscious. None of my old clothes fit the same and i constantly think that i need to lose all my pregnancy weight straight away. I keep comparing myself to other Mums who seem to have just bounced back like nothing's happened. I haven't had any photos taken as well as i can't stand looking at myself. In order to feel better, i bought some clothes to dress the body i have now. I feel prettier when i put them on. My partner doesn't understand what im going through. I just want to feel pretty and sexy again and day by day, i know i will get there.

I know what you are feeling. My fourth baby boy is 7.5 months old and I started to work for one month ago only been able to fit in one pair of trousers and a couple of shirt dresses. I do healthy keto (thanx Dr. Berg) and I've just tried one of my skater above the knee dresses. And it fits me! A bit tight in chest. 16 more pounds to go. So happy about that! Step by step you will be there! But I don't wish to invest in new clothes as I know I can go back to my S size and be there for the rest of my life! Hugs!

Love your videos, and this one was such a heartfelt message that really came through. I am in good shape, but do find myself being critical of myself even if it’s just a few pounds over my ideal weight. The pressure we put on ourselves is sometimes overwhelming. Thank you for that reality slap! Oxoxoxox Even in Florida here today, on my errands I’m rocking my 70’s flare jeans, a cami and my favorite suede jacket. Hi Erin! I’ve been wanting to send you a message regarding your amazing video last week where you really opened up about body images and I was just so touched by your bravery and openness to share these things. Thank you for that. I’m someone that used to be very pretty but my love of cooking and eating junk like McDonald’s always won out. Those were my emotional eating days. I’m not even sure they’ve stopped, I’ve just been dealing with type 2 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis so I’m not as excited to just go buy a meal out not that I know what it’s all been doing to my body. Anyway I’m 5’9 and weigh 177 lbs. I need to lose 37 lbs. To look like my normal self. The thing is I really love fashion but I’m going through a bit of a fashion identity crisis because I’m 55 now and while everyone says I look younger I don’t really know and at this point it doesn’t matter. I’m just finding myself thinking I can’t wear a lot of things that I would have worn before. Do you have any advice for me? I am also in the middle of watching your manifestation video from last year and wonder if it’s too late for me to come up with a board for that? I know you have a ton of followers so I’ll understand if you can’t answer me. By the way I had just been noticing how pretty your arms are in this video and then saw from your manifestation video that someone insulted your arms. They are clearly jealous and mean spirited. I have gained weight in my arms which is very noticeable when certain sleeves don’t fit my arms. You truly look awesome just as you are. I was shocked that you’ve ever thought negatively about your body at first but then all I had to do was think of how when I was young I was told very often that I should be a model but I was super insecure on the inside. So anyway, I love your videos and take care, you’re a very special person!! 😊❤😊
