    As someone who has never liked or looked good in skinny jeans, there is now something good happening in year 2020.

      I agree with you, when I think of baggy I think a person wants to hide their shape.
      It doesn’t flatter any body type in my opinion.

    I lost a lot of weight in the past 2 years and I am building up a new wardrobe - I try to add 1 or 2 good pieces per month. Love being able to refer to these videos as I work towards getting the basics. Went out today with my new moto jacket with jeans and boots and was feeling pretty and put together! Thank you!

      Yessss!!! Same here!!! And the most exciting thing is not only am I feeling amazing in my well put together clothes I’ve found (also after weight loss) that Erin tells us about, I AM GETTING SOO MANY COMPLIMENTS!! And not that I look good that I lost weight… ppl are commenting specifically about the outfits! … how I’m wearing a specific shoe and oh my jeans .. this way … oh that top looks amazing…. Etc Yay for Erin to teach me how to dress my new middle aged body that I had no clothes for (I dropped from size 3X to size 8 - definitely NOTHING savable.. not even socks!)

    Erin, yesterday I went to Goodwill to see what basics I could find there after watching this video. I found a red Talbot's jacket, a Geoffrey Beene white shirt with a hidden button placket and adorable cuff detail, a black 3/4 sleeve sweater/jacket, two pair of jeans (purchased using the neck measuring technique you shared in another video), and a sleeveless top that's a nice blue that will span several seasons here in Texas. Total expenditure was $52! I am petite like you and finding nice clothes secondhand is a challenge. Feeling very happy and wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge so freely. I took a bunch of photos of my purchases that I will be sharing with my friends on Facebook!

    I am all for the baggy jean. It just has to be the right one. Part of looking younger is changing things up in an age appropriate way. Always wearing the same jeans is similar to wearing your hair the same way for 20 years, it ages you. Some will say don't change a classic and that's fine. But for me, being open to change in fashion and shaking things up makes me feel better and not stagnant. Thanks Erin, for always providing such great inspiration! 💜

      Yes, agree with the super baggy jean, they definitely aren't as flattering because your shape kind of gets lost in them. I do like a mom jean thats fitted on the hips and butt and has a slightly looser leg.

      Baggy jeans are not made for short women. The light wash on those jeans is very unflattering. They might look better in a darker wash.

    Can not tolerate the baggy jeans. They may be "trendy" but they are so unflattering. When styles change that I don't like I just go on to something other than. No easing into them.

    • @BusbeeStyle
      @BusbeeStyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    • @ritamariefromsc9356
      @ritamariefromsc9356 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone else here said, the baggie jeans do make the wearer look bowlegged, and like nice jeans are not affordable. Although, if enough women start wearing them, they will maybe catch on like skinny jeans did. I don't know if any of you have run across reruns for The Beverly Hillbillies, but this jean style brings the clothes on that old show to mind. I would be embarrassed to wear them in public. I like very much everything else especially using different jackets to create yet another look. I think most people do not view them for anything but warmth. So, you've inspired me to look for unique jackets to change even the same jeans into many different fashion statements. I love the pretty sweat pants. Where do you find them?

    It has taken me 4 years to build a good basics wardrobe, because I have invested in quality pieces for my basics. I add one piece per month. It has taken a long time, but now I can get dressed and look put together in 15 minutes! Totally worth the time and money, because I can get dressed quickly, without even having to think about it. I add fast fashion pieces with accessories (scarves, hats, sunglasses, and belts - I have two more pricey basic belts...a brown and black), costume-ique jewelry (although I have also procured a basic jewelry wardrobe as well), and some shoes (again, I have a basic shoes and bags collection). So glad I followed Erin's advice and finally made the commitment...totally worth it! Thanks Erin! 😘

      I thought I’d hate them too but I got a pair of vintage boys Levi’s that sit really high on my waist and have a wide leg and I find myself wearing them again and again. Way more than my skinnies - which I want to love but just don’t. And i totally find them sexy! Way sexier than skinnies. But I 100% think it’s all about how you feel in them because that’s the energy you’re going to exude! Gotta stick to what makes you feel like a babe! Xx

      I feel the same about skinny jeans. As Someone with big calves, (lots of sport in my past) skinny jeans never looked good on me. A pair of black leggings would look better. I am so happy skinny jeans are going out of style because for years that was almost all you could buy in the stores here in Australia.

    First, I love your hair! Great timing for this video. I'm 63, and still have my skinny jeans, but decided recently that I wanted to try boyfriend jeans and have found some great one's on ebay. Particularly Kut from the Kloth Catherine. I'm only 5'3", was hesitant, but between the Kut, Maxx and Express, I'm loving them, plus first time ever really enjoying distressed! !! You are so spot on with wearing a fitted top with the baggier jeans, and especially being short, I'm still working on this new look. Strange that these boyfriend cut seem to fit my body better than many of my skinny jeans. Ty for this video! !✌💕✌

      @@BusbeeStyle I think if you rewatch your video here, you might see they’re not all that flattering on you, either, unless you’re walking around “posing” them in their best light like you do in these vids. No one naturally stands in those poses on a regular basis, leaning on their back leg with their front knee bent and foot on their toe. The right pose can make almost anything look good. Watch as you’re moving, though, in this vid, you’ll notice that the baggy jeans make you actually appear bow-legged, short and stumpy-ish. Not very flattering. Pause at 5:27 and you’ll see. Definitely better with the bootie and heel but even in the heel you got the bowed leg going on (5:44) You look way better in other styles. Swap the jeans for some black flares with that heel and you’d be stunning!

    I totally get the pairing a bulkier bottom with a skinnier top thing now.. What's frustrating is that with the weather where I live it is pretty much extremes all year. So there might be 1 day in the year when its like 20 or 22 C for most of the day and I can be comfortable in baggy jeans and a tank or crop top and blazer or something. I just took advantage of one such day last month, it was divine. But normally I want to wear a baggy jean in winter when its also necessary to have that sweater and coat etc so it does get a bit suffocating. I just axed the baggy jean sweatshirt combo the other day and threw on some skinny joggers instead with my super sized sweatshirt. Worked so much better. With a really thin high quality wool top I'll try the baggy jean again.. Maybe with a vest with it. OR a thin turtleneck or sleeveless and a silk blouse on top. Extreme weather is tricky for the balancing of silhouette.

California. Love all sorts of jackets and have tons. And coats! Looking for suggestions which one suits better a petite need to donate a few old ones. Those blazers I got in a beautiful plum, dark navy, black and one in a gorgeous green I even told the cashier I had no idea how to match this one but I lived the color so much being my favorite. I do wear turtlenecks a few times and being a 5’3 petite they can look actually elongating I do enjoy them when the temperature drops. Also love booties with heels looks more feminine than the comfy sticky heels but I love them all. Crazy about boots long and short love shoes! More important than the actual pieces that I'm featuring here is the type of item...You can find similar pieces at whatever price point you wish...you may even have some of these basics already in your closet. xo

      I get your disenchantment with the prices but, we can search for a similar look for less money.

    I bought the banana republic sweatpants in black. When they arrived I immediately went back to their site and bought the matching hoodie and the matching joggers. I can’t tell you how much I LOVE the fabric. It is just yummy.

    Definitely not into the baggy jeans. I am petite and slim and omg they do not enhance my figure at all. I love my straight leg and skinny jeans.

    • @BusbeeStyle
      @BusbeeStyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't have to wear anything that you don't love. Straight jeans are great, because they are looser than skinny jeans and still give you a baggy look without being too oversized. xo

    The express blazer is super cute. However has 3/4 sleeves. Wouldn’t it look like it was too small or didn’t fit right? Maybe would be ok for summer.

      3/4 sleeves are super popular on blazers right now. I love the look! xo

    Thank you so much for doing an updated basics with newer trends that are staying for awhile. So so helpful. Thanks to you I now know that my wardrobe was full of frosting and no basics...oops!
    Also wanted to point out price point. There are a lot of stores where basics are available at different price points and some retail stores are really stepping up their style and quality game. Target,
    Walmart, H&M and Zara you could get some of those basics. There is also Express, Loft, Madewell etc. My point being it’s out there at every price point.
    Also shopping online huge thank you Erin!! You have helped so much with learning how to do that better and getting things that actually fit!!
    That white t and jeans video is awesome!! Shows the amazing potential of your most basic clothing. Reminds me of a challenge I saw...7 pieces and you see how many outfits you can make.

      Very true...You can find basics at any price point. I have a lot of content featuring Walmart and Express items on my channel and on my blog.

      Busbee Style - Fashion Over 40 yes and thank you for featuring many different budget options for women. I think it is very appreciated by your viewers. In this video you mentioned people “coming for you” with the specific higher end brands. I was just trying to reinforce that there are other options out there and that basics can be found everywhere. Like you say it’s about taking the ideas of what you say and show and then implementing them in your outfits with pieces you may have already or that you go out and buy at any price point. Again amazing video and thank you for providing such wonderful and educational content.

    Am I the only one that loves the new Jean silhouette? Lol. I’ve been wearing Levi’s ribcage wide leg jeans recently. Perfect on my body (11” difference between my waist and hips- highly recommend this style to curvy peeps). Erin - I love you videos! I’m 38 so not quite in your targeted audience, but keep the good tips coming!

    Love this and love your definition of sexy! I work as a stylist and find myself suggesting to women all the time that comfort and subtlety are supremely sexy...much more than blatant tight or a lot of skin showing. There’s certainly room for body hugging...but you don’t NEED that to be sexy.
    And by the way, I am LOVING the slouchy jeans and wear them all the time! I just have one skinny pair but otherwise it’s vintage men’s denim and gorgeous feminine tops!

    How do you keep from getting those tiny holes in the front of the tees from rubbing against the button and zipper of jeans? I have so many t-shirts with this problem.

  • @smd81404

    I remember when skinny jeans came out and most women (including me) thought they were unflattering. Now, we can't get enough of the skinnies. I think the baggy trend will likely be similar...just takes time for us to get used to change. Of course, there are always exceptions and some will never embrace the look and that's ok!

      It doesn’t snow here but it’s sooo cold!! I like the Sorel Cate lace mid & Joan of Arctic wedge
      but we cannot try on as there’s no stores here except for a select few in adventure stores. Can you walk in these for a few hours or do they hurt?

    I love an effortless, slouchy, feminine/tomboy look. That’s what style is all about. Playing and juxtaposing looks and feels.
    Wasn’t ready for the “steal someone’s husband” reference though ... LOL.
