    I can't get over the fact that there's a noticeable amount of foreign brand vehicles in Detroit now. I remember a time when you would get shit for doing that.

      My coworker grew up on the west side of Detroit during the 1980s, and even then, he said that Honda Accords were one of the most desired cars to have there. Detroit is currently around 80% black, and actual surveys and statistics found that African-Americans favorite car is the Nissan Altima. So, statistically, Japanese brands will still be found there. However, Ive noticed more Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300s in the majority-black areas of SE Michigan than in other communities so there is still a bit of a difference there versus the rest of the country. Another thing is, Japanese cars still have a better reputation for reliability with a lot of people. Many of the neighborhoods seen in these videos are impoverished, and lower-income drivers assume that a Japanese car will require less repairs, therefore, less maintenance costs.

    No talking, no commentary. That way it will last forever as a pure snapshot of this once great American city. It's really like witnessing the decline of Rome through Nero's eyes.

    There was a mixed neighborhood nearby where I grew up, (Tacoma, Wa). There was an ex-marine white guy and a black guy living across the street from him. They were the real cops of the block. Any crap that came in they were quickly expelled by these two. They even made the local news. Gangs knew to stay clear of that area because of these two block watchers. The place was clean, neat and tidy. One of my best friends a Latino guy I worked with and
    I rode motorcycles with also lived on this block. Black, white and Latino all on the same block. Near the hilltop on area of Tacoma and anyone familiar knows this area has had its ups and downs.

      That's so awesome!! My best friend grew up in the brightmoor neighborhood in Detroit, and a similar situation was in place... the guys on the block were all very good friends and watched out for each other and their families. When a house wasn't kept up, they went as a group and made it known they didn't put up with that thru intimidation!!! When a house was abandoned they burned it down!!! No joke!! Many of them were fire fighters so it was well known that the fire department was very slow to get to abandoned house fires!! Instead of having an abandoned drug house on the block they made sure it was an empty lot!!!! Lol!!!

    Am I the only person who sees that, in the functioning neighborhoods featured in this video, virtually every car parked in driveways and on the street is older and looks well-used? Contrast that with the numerous videos in dysfunctional neighborhoods and you see PLENTY of shiny new vehicles and tricked-out older vehicles. Perhaps poverty and dysfunction is little more than a matter of upside-down priorities?

      I know, I saw a brand new Chevy Tahoe at 1:53 and some fairly new Ford Explorers. Those new Tahoes are fit for being the escort people like the top brass of our country, it's shocking to see one in such a run-down neighborhood. Granted, I do see them (the fully loaded new ones) in the Walmarts around my town a lot but I doubt they're hood-dwellers.

    I'm from here but i lived in the south most of my life.
    These neighborhoods look weird to me. Like the house design styles and the way that the roads are made.
    My neighborhood the road is a "s" shape like a valley and people park in driveways.
    Lol I'm only comparing the 2 because i want to get into real estate in Michigan and Georgia.

    • @benlong2300
      @benlong2300 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sufer_Girl That’s because these neighborhoods are much older than the ones down south and the modern suburb design with curved roads and big driveways didn’t start being built until the 50s

    They should force the owners of the boarded up ones to either fix them or tear them down. It looks like there are some really nice houses and some decent white people, so there is hope. My neighborhood is in the mist of a conversion to all section 8 blacks. I will need to move out in a year or two. My house has been rendered worthless. It's sad and it pisses me off.
