After drinking it for years, I realized I hadnt actually heard it pronounced. I had a completely different emphasis on the syllables. Language is wild.
The first time I had Glenmorangie I was on a cruise ship heading to Alaska. Now when I drink it, I'm taken back to the sea again in my memories. It will always be very special to me.
I haven't tried a lot of single malts due to the price tag but after enjoying a few and declaring them to be wonderful, I tried Glenmorangie and declared it to be all I need in a single. Just beautiful!
One of the best single malt taste as I am an Indian Punjabi and for me it taste like Pure butter that comes from buttermilk ( called LASSI drink ) made in home ( not in factory) Very smooth and buttery taste 👅 Advice is that drink it neat not with water or any other liquid
I drank this for the first time a few weeks ago at a wedding reception in Dornoch. Back home in Tennessee now, and just today I bought a bottle. Looking forward to enjoying it.
A very good professional presentation. I am viewing you for the first time. Going to follow you. I am a connoisseur of various brands of Single malts. BTW, Glenmorongie and variants are one of my favourites. Look forward to more from you.
Yeah, I have olso a bottle of the glenmorganie 19 I have them all bud I never saw my favorite guy do review about the glenmorganie 19 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you for your video. I was trying it for the first time while watching. It was like we were in a room together. I told me friend is super smooth then you said it's very smooth we laughed! I give this scotch 5 out of 5 rating. The balance of taste and smoothness for a single malt is lovely. I will say the smoothness allows me to actually taste all the flavors.
I like it. It's not the best tasting stuff I've ever had but it's really great for the price. Can get the big 1.75 bottle around here for about $60. This is my go-to home drinking scotch.
I would find Glenmo and Macallen the best value single malt Scotch. Macallen 12 tastes slightly better than Glenno 10. Glenmo 10 has too much fruity taste to itZ
I like Horst... but this review was sub-par... The Original may not be any sort of challenge to Scotch "snobs"... but being the best seller in Scotland... to me is a very BIG deal... a whisky that is appealing to the "masses" may be frowned on by the snobs, as Dewars often is, being the best seller in the world... but one would assume that the Scots know a bit more about the character of their whisky... from "novice" to "expert"... Not my very favorite, but I still love the stuff.
Yeah, knowing that the Scotts covet this whiskey more so than any other makes it more appealing to me as well. They fucking invented this. I'll go with their professional opinion.
@M P You sound like a snob... and not very intelligent. Bud Light, Coor Light, Miller Lite... all huge sellers, preferred and enjoyed by millions... who are YOU to say they all are dumb? Sure, there are many far better brews... so what? "Terrible"? Nonsense. There are far better Scotches than Glenmorangie... but it is still VERY enjoyable. Sales figures are far more credible than YOUR shallow opinions.
@M P Once again, your arrogance is beyond belief. No, fool, it is not "terrible"... you spit on all that enjoy that brew, along with other domestic light beers with your insipid and idiotic comments. Yes, your comment about Glenmorangie was harsh (more like stupid)... like all of your comments. You know very little about the subject, beer, wine or scotch... so why not STFU? No more chit chat... I will not respond to any more of your dumb shit posts.
The original and quite a selection of other Glenmorangie offerings are all really approachable single malts....but for me The Signet is far and away the most stunning in their range.😋🥃
First whisky in 25 years of drinking I could pallet. Had half a bottle and really enjoyed it. Woke up with not much of a hangover BAR a chronic headache. Took aspirin and was fine but very strange hangover it was migraine strength headache. Is that a common thing with whisky? Like I said no other hangover effects bar that monster headache.
Dude half a bottle is not the amount you should be drinking. A whiskey is server as 1,5 ounce or 45 ml pours and i never have more than 2 or 3 of em. This isnt like vodka or something to drink half a bottle to get pissed.
I know I am likely in the minority but I was very underwhelmed by this one. I like my Whisky to be more robust than this. I would serve this to someone who enjoys a lite tasting spirit.
It is my least favorite scotch on my shelf of 9. The initial nose is like an aggressive alcohol, but Horst calls it 'citrousy'. Because I'd have to finish this bottle eventually, I gave it another try after watching this video. This time, I swirled the Glenmorangie more and let it air. I took tiny sips ... and it tasted much better. I don't like adding water, so another way is to take small sips and let residual saliva take care of the scotch. I can taste the vanilla, oak, and orange peel much better, with less interference from aggressive alcohol, especially at the finish. Give it a try and let me know.
at 43% here in the USA it's a decent purchase, but I think the price is a bit inflated compared to some of the other quality, younger whiskies we have (e.g., Speyburn 10 is only a bit over $25). Glenmorangie 10 here is nearly $50 -- not worth it! Considering the Lasanta and Quinta Ruban are only $10 more, they're worth the extra bit.
There's no colour added to Glenmorangie 10. I was drinking some with Bill Lumsden the other day and he said it's natural colour. Glenmorangie also uses casks for a maximum of 2 times which keeps the quality high.
He just wants to taste a little glass and not have to open bigger bottles if possible for him. Just think of how many whisky bottles he’s opened in his life.. ha!
There is a new whisky glass on Kickstarter that looks like it's going to be better than the glencairn. Also, macallan teamed up with Lalique to make a similar looking glass.
Horst, or anyone else. Is it possible (I know this would never happen, it's just a theoretical question) but can scotch distilleries add any artificial coloring to their scotch? Like, if they wanted blue scotch, to commemorate Scotland or something, could they make that legally? Or can it only be e150a? And can you explain if distilleries that use the same exact barrels let's say, and exact ingredients, is it just barometric pressure and weather that make them different colors?
+The Joy Of Piping okay perfect, this is what I wanted to know. I wasn't actually serious about blue scotch, it was just an extreme example. But then again we all drink green beer a certain day of the year haha
+UNC Tarheels lol, you got me there. I hit downtown Raleigh like I do every year and must've had a gallon of Guinness instead of the green beer for once! I wouldn't roll with blue whisky either, but each manufacturer usually states whether it's been added or not. Some darker colors come from the casks they finish in like Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban.
+The Joy Of Piping Horst specifically says that an EU law says that every ingredient and color (Farbstoff) has to be on the label, it sucks that they can still not put this on the labels and not be punished for it. And then compass box puts their ingredients and the whisky makers in their blends available (what distillery, year, and percentage, and abv) and they get in trouble. Are you a native of NC? Teaser alert, I graduated from UNC haha
+UNC Tarheels it's a bit of a pain not knowing from the bottle whether or not they've added coloring, but it doesn't affect flavor, at least not in my opinion. I'm not a native, but I've been in Raleigh a few years and I love it here. The name gave me a little hint haha.
No. Horst says that taste is too subjective, so he won't do it. If he doesn't like something, it is pretty obvious, and if he takes another drink, or finishes the dram, you know that he actually likes it.
Whisky is best stored in a cool location out of direct light. Refrigerating or placing it in the freezer will affect the taste while it's too cold and there's no benefit to storing it that way. It should be served room-temperature or with whisky stones or ice if you want to cool and or dilute it.
+HillaToppa 90'z No, it's just inferior Scotch Whiskey. Under aged, and has a harsh formula. The new formula of the Glenmorganie Lasanta 12 is really satisfying. Yet only being 43 percent volume, it's well balanced and smooth. Even better, when the new Lasanta 12 oxidizes, it becomes more smoother. Smooth as an 18 year malt. Enough said...
wesleytaylorviadomus Haven't tried the Lasanta yet but it's one of the ones i keep looking at. thanks for letting me know i'll be sure to pick up a bottle of it next time. to hell with the 10 year old.
+HillaToppa 90'z I had a bottle of this several years ago and it wasn't too good at first, but with about half the bottle left and two months untouched, I found that the oxidation had improved the taste.
ArtMorte Yeah i do know Oxidation can improve a whisky significantly but buying a bottle and having to wait weeks/months for it to oxidise just isn't practical for me. I drink whisky most nights so i tend to make it through bottles quicker than that.
Got the 4 little bottle sampler and I kinda hated this one. Even 100ml was hard to finish. The other 3 were far better - Lasanta especially, but also Quinta Ruban (strange color though) and 3rd favotite was Nectar D'or (most expensive).
I'd say that it is EASILY on par w/this Glenmorangie 10..... Interesting thing about both of these single malts is that the Glenmorangie 10 is available (as of three years after this video) here in Wisconsin at 43%. Horst reported that his was only 40%. The Speyburn 10 just recently changed in availability where I've always found it at 43%----but the newer bottles in newer packaging are only at 40%.......This sort of pissed me off because I believe the flavor profile is affected by this------I'd rather add a little special water of my own to dilute if only mildly my own whisky from the higher ABV.......At any rate----GOOD DISCUSSION AND CHEERS!!!!
Only problem I have with these reviews the prices are completely off by huge margins I know it’s 6 yo old but even 6 y ago the price was not 30 eur !!!! Now we talk 48 eur
Really disappointed with my bottle, its got some character but is very watered down, almost like a strong wine. It's going to the back of the cabinet for guests I don't like very much.
I have had a few bottles but the latest bottle I got is not right. Very weak and almost no citrus note. The previous bottles were much better. Very strange.
Never a critical word. All these youtube whisky reviewers are, I suspect, in the pay of the whisky corporations. Don't believe their bs. Big promotion and ad money spent to get suckers to buy overpriced booze. I'm going back to Teacher's (even that they won't give a bad review!).
His review of Tullamore Dew and Bushmills show that he's not afraid of negative reviews (or at least, negative reactions). He does occasionally preface his reviews saying he doesn't like bitter, so you mileage may vary.
The sitetriss is really dominant.
Your profile pic matches your username perfectly sir/madam. Cheers!
Love me some sitetrissy flavor
Came here for pronunciation of Glenmorangie lol. Already knew it tasted great!
Same! My brother and I pronounce it differently so we had to call in the expert
Hahahahaha same
After drinking it for years, I realized I hadnt actually heard it pronounced. I had a completely different emphasis on the syllables. Language is wild.
Crying this is me hahahahaha
The first time I had Glenmorangie I was on a cruise ship heading to Alaska. Now when I drink it, I'm taken back to the sea again in my memories. It will always be very special to me.
First time I had it was in a hot dirty porterpotty. Ahh takes me back every time 👌
Yes, it has a certain quality of generating nostalgia, I'm not sure why but this is a uniquely pleasant experience.
I haven't tried a lot of single malts due to the price tag but after enjoying a few and declaring them to be wonderful, I tried Glenmorangie and declared it to be all I need in a single. Just beautiful!
This is now my favorite single malt, fruity and floral. I could not wait to try it. I knew it would be delicious.

I love the noises while tasting!
Does anyone else want to see Horst and Hickok45 shooting and drinking whisky together?
This is an outstanding idea haha.
XD
Would that be wise?
So funny he's always making those hand gesture while tasting xD
I have heard many a review of great whiskeys from other channels but now that I have come here I am here for good.

Word!
I like this scotch. Might be too smooth and subtle for some though. The finish is really quite lovely and surprisingly complex.

My favorite part is when he said "blah blah blah...here we go"...Ol' Horst was ready for that dram.
I love this guys reviews. It would be interesting for Horst to review the Glenmorangie 19 years old. I have a bottle and it is my favourite now.

Great whisky, can't ever go wrong with this one.
Trying this whisky for the first time today, it is a nice dram, but nothing beats the Lagavulin for me.
not sure I have tried original. but my favourite Glenmorangie is the Lastana.
..... then you mean you like Lastana, so far.
Thank you for your video. I was trying it for the first time while watching. It was like we were in a room together. I told me friend is super smooth then you said it's very smooth we laughed! Just had a good "sip" of my own. Smooth and no bitterness. Scent of vanilla and citrus. "Cheers."
This whisky is fabulous I love drinking it every-time!
Jumping today from Talisker Storm to this. Let’s see how it compares. Thanks for the video
I love Horst.
Mate, just FYI, it's pronounced 'sit-rus' but I prefer your way.
interesting that he says no vanilla... i get lots of vanilla...
Wanilla

Consider yourself lucky... a regular 0.7 bottle costs €50 (~$55) here in Ireland.
@@glennhooper8867 whoa! that's crazy.
Good solid distillery expression. I don't go out of my way for any glenmorangie. Solid whisky, I just like deeper complexity.

Is this one worth have in my collection at home?
To me it's like drinking the juice from a can/jar of fruit cocktail
Glenmorangie = slightly underrated, my favourite Single malt Scotch!
18 years old Extremely Rare edition, i recommend buying.
I started loving this whiskey after giving up coffee. For some reason coffee is playing with my taste buds.
Great video 👍

Everytime i see horst i think of the movie "hostel".

Scary AF!
Every time I hear him I think of Inglorious Basterds.
I tried this at a restaurant the other night...so glad i did. for the money it is hard to find a better drink. IMO

This guy is hysterical. Worth watching
Why add colour to a single malt?
Shane54528 also for marketing. Many people associate darker whiskey with better whiskey. Which is not the case
It's actually really light color in the glass even with color added.
There's no colour added to Glenmorangie 10. I was drinking some with Bill Lumsden the other day and he said it's natural colour. Glenmorangie also uses casks for a maximum of 2 times which keeps the quality high.
Why not a full bottle? The most popular scotch for Scotsmen isn’t good enough?
He just wants to taste a little glass and not have to open bigger bottles if possible for him. Just think of how many whisky bottles he’s opened in his life.. ha!
I got a bottle of Glenmorangie in the US. It was so unlike the review here. It tasted extremely leathery. May be I just got unlucky.
Cheers! Great review!
Too bad you don't have a 1.75 liter bottle to stand over his smaller siblings. I have one now and it doesn't fit in my liquor cabinet. It's so tall!
In ur opinion sir, which is more interesting and memorable as compared to glenfiddich 12?
Can anyone identify/name the glass Horst uses in this video?
+Uberwrensch It's their own design, they have a video of it somewhere if you browse them.
+ArtMorte Will do. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Research I've done has said only E150a is allowed as coloring.
+The Joy Of Piping okay perfect, this is what I wanted to know. I wasn't actually serious about blue scotch, it was just an extreme example. But then again we all drink green beer a certain day of the year haha

My #1 , best flavor for price
umm are we not supposed to get a score or a recommendation?
No. Horst says that taste is too subjective, so he won't do it. If he doesn't like something, it is pretty obvious, and if he takes another drink, or finishes the dram, you know that he actually likes it.
Can this drink be left in the freezer? Or fridge? Is it served cold? Or room temperature?
Whisky is best stored in a cool location out of direct light. Refrigerating or placing it in the freezer will affect the taste while it's too cold and there's no benefit to storing it that way. It should be served room-temperature or with whisky stones or ice if you want to cool and or dilute it.
This is sooooo unintentional asmr 😍
Is he using it as mouth wash
