"It is tiring having to always wonder what I need to do to improve, when my cheating opponent might have created an impossible problem for me to solve." Well said!
Xim/cronus has genuinely ruined cross play fps. As a former contract esports player its really really sad to see things like. A ban wave wiping out 80% of high elo lobbys for a few weeks. People like to cope and say cheating isnt common but the last year we breached the threshold in most games. Where a net total of over 51% of high ranked players (at least in games like cod) were in some way tool assisted
Swear years ago it was just different controllers, console gaming was pretty much the same experience for everyone. Now it's paddles vs no paddles, monitor instead of tv, refresh rates, higher frames vs lower frames, xim, cronus etc. It's become a hardware battle. Not saying the first ones are bad, unfair or anything btw, just mentioning them
alot more often its the game not supporting controller players as well as Mnk or other better supported games on controller that causes others to buy xims and such to keep up or even the playing field.
Just shows they were all fake… we will see real skill rise again, hopefully soon, since PS and Xbox are both banning by the detection of Cronus. Hopefully all PC games do the same, it’s time for these cheaters to not have any leverage…
Lies. Respawn loves pandering and there is NO Ban on Cronus, xim or configs. The matchmaking just thinks you’re a bot and eomm wants you to play longer
@@Shoegaze- controller takes less skill at a base line and therefore heavily upgrades your shot as a good player. Thats why you see good players getting rolled by controllers, the other players are good but using controller giving them aim assist. The issue is, diamond and below players just blame controller for their loss, when at that skill level mnk still has a major advantage. you have to have mastered the fundamentals to dog walk people with controller
Holy shit this video is really good, genuinely covered nearly every bullet point I could think of w/o giving out named examples and just got to the point and actually showed the advantages and disadvantages. You cooked.
IM SO GLAD YOU SAID IT! The 20% dead zone has been my actual nightmare. I legit thought it was me being bad at games. Like it was crazy coming back from a hiatus from apex with its ALC settings and then getting a dual sense edge and having even greater control of dead zones and stick sensitivity, I was absolutely eating with customization in Apex. Then I cam back to D2 and wanted to grind rank there again but my aim felt SOOOO slow, literally like you said like dragging my sticks thru mud. I was so confused. I now see it is just D2 forced bullshit. I have to have a separate profile just to make my aim feel slightly comparable to what it is in Apex. Glad to know finally. I can stop tripping.
Ok just got to the end and once I get some more PS plus. I will log into D2 and really fine tune my settings again and give some feed back. The best solution I found is using the dual sense on console tho. So that really does put you in different disadvantage pool cuz you can only have the profiles active on PS5. But cranking up right stick response curves to instantly mellow back out after input seems to be the money. Auto rifles track more, I feel like I can look around and behind myself without snapping my neck. I'm not even all that great period, but I do try really hard to be better and apex really helped. But my gods trying to hit certain small targets in dungeons is really hard until I cranked up the response curve. I do hope you see this and consider it.
I've been playing d2 since launch and got a dual sense Edge about a month ago, it really does get rid of some of the bullshit. I have my d2 profile set to 4% deadzones and my right stick curve set in a way that I can aim with more intent for small adjustments but, the sensitivity will ramp if I need to spin around, also, helps sliding into engagements paired with crouch set to a paddle. Not to mention, shortening trigger pulls to a tap. Wish they would standardize paddles and controller profiles, doesn't really seem like something you should have to pay 200 usd for
Wild to think that in D1 Lupo was opening using a Xim and that was his "niche" that drew people to him, like nobody had an issue with it back then because nobody really understood just how bonkers it was.
Because back then it wasent bonkers. I was a pc gamer coming from FPS and WoW and had never used a controller. XIM4 allowed me to use a mouse and keyboard on Xbox with D1. The goal was to make feel seemless. It wasnt until their latest version came out that I started to hear about using it to manipulate the game. Soon as D2 went to PC, i sold my xbox and went back to PC. So not everyone was using it to cheat.
@M4S73RThor Dr. Lupo did paid Trials carries back then using graviton forfeit for 2x shadestep and 3 tapping everybody that challenged him. I went to his chat after losing to him and calling him out for it. I got banned.
Still banned from his chat because me and friend would go in there and call him a fraud. People definitely had an issue, but they also liked getting to the lighthouse for free in raffles.
@M4S73RThor that’s still cheating. You sound like DrLupo rn. It really doesn’t matter that you did it with innocent intentions or whatever. There’s plenty of delusional cheaters who think they’re doing nothing wrong. That’s part of the problem.
I am playing a lot, and I mean a lot of PvP. What I realized is that the normal play list and also Trials are infected to the core with cheaters. Almost every second to third game has a ximmer/cheater in it and as veteran pvp player you realize that immediately. What I also hate are those macro SMG-crouch-spammers, why not just press the crouch button manually?
@@quinxilence3047 I have an scuff my self I can’t crouch spam as fast as my opponents maybe a skill issue but is can’t spam abutton and aim at the same time
I used control freaks in the beginning of my fps pvp escapades. I bought the ps4 back button attachment, but the first pro controller I bought was the ps5 edge. The amount of customizing with deadzones and swappable sticks and paddles are great. Having jump and crouch on the back of the controller help tremendously in gaming in general. Almost feels mandatory in modern competitive fps games. I don't want to get to the times where cheating in games is viewed in the same light. Like keeping up with the competition means having to cheat as well.
I just use a Dualsense Edge w paddles, literally nothing tweaked besides in game settings and mapping a single paddle to crouch using the default ps5 config software for that controller. I can only use one paddle at a time because I’m still not used to them, if I have two I occasionally fatfinger the other one. The built in trigger stoppers on the controller also help, but that’s as far as I’m willing to go, I just can’t play claw grip and having to take my finger off of the right stick to crouch mid fight completely takes away my ability to throw off others aim from my head. I’ve been playing fps games for over a decade with normal controllers and having said all this I sound like a “bad” or casual player, but having the advantage of that one single paddle did wonders for me. At the end of the day if you have good aim, awareness and knowledge about what you are playing and how you play it there is absolutely no need for any form of “cheating” listed in this video even in the higher echelon of PvP. That’s just my experience as a controller sweat though. Hope the industry takes a step in the right direction to prevent frequent cheating from going unnoticed.
"Fighting Lion is the best anticheat this game has ever had" I feel that one, it's gotten to the point it never leaves my inventory and usually in pvp doesn't leave my hands either. As much as people might hate it, with how many people out there that are cheaters, it really is one of the few ways to actually effectively counter cheaters
@@tensedart3470 if an aimbot will one shot you around a corner if you peek, you can use lion to hit around the corner to kill or even just flinch away the snipes. Probably more but those are great reasons to use it
pretty much. The ability to bounce around corners, hit at angles you can't normally hit at, etc makes it difficult even for people who have good game sense to deal with let alone people who rely on cheats to be "Good". Not to mention, if you understand the bounce well enough you don't even have to peak certain lanes and just bounce it into them and watch them panic. Fighting lion can just push them into situations that are very much disadvantageous to them to the point they can't win unless they use some sort of blatant cheat like godmode or something.
Practice the lion and get a decent understanding of it and I guarantee you'll notice a difference in your comp/trials matches. Pair it with a quickdraw rose and you'll be the bane of people's existence. Ooooooor go the based route and play Snipelion cause it's fun as hell
One thing, on your slide about XIM/Cronus not making a player good, one of the most impactful things that it does is perfect recoil control, at least in other games like apex, turning the flatline into a laserbeam makes the game waay easier and imo the strongest thing that those softwares do.
I am a C7 quadraplegic so don't have very good hand fuction and just use a scuf controller, i manage to get by with that so i don't understand people saying cronus is needed for accessability issues.
I've seen a lot of "network manipulation" hacks in Gambit recently. From instant supers, nonstop invasions, and self reviving. I was told it was "undetectable" and good luck getting them banned even after multiple reporting. I'm sure that kind of stuff is also plaguing Crucible / Trials.
instant supers isn't network manip, nor is self rezzing or anything like that. you...really don't need network manipulation/limiting in gambit...the portal desyncs you hilariously easily already
@@yerfriendlyneighborhoodsco3337 If instant supers after first invasion isn't cheating or self rezzing then I don't know what is. It almost seems like this "desync" or w/e they call it, is abundant in Gambit and now we're getting into semantics as to what "cheating" is. It's like taking the blame out of the players for using it, and the players redirecting it at Bungo for being a "shit company/shit game" is the thing people use to validate their usage of it. It is still cheating and the reply below/above shows that he knows it exists. Why be critical about semantics?
no what im referring to is what you've said is hard code injection. if you don't know what desync is do please no try talk about it. though on the super gain end if its not instant you'd be shocked how fast a team built for it can feed someone a super. (the old 20 second first portal goldie team comp still works.) Simply stating what you've said has nothing to do with the cause of said kind of cheating you've mentioned, instant super and rez have nothing to do with network manip. @@GesseAaron Desync explaination: (Popping a roaming super on entering portal makes you heavily lag behind to those on the other side, this has been in the game since gambits release, and has never even been acknowledged by bungie, that? that's an exploit. which bungie is to lazy to address nor do they care about it.) On the hard cheating front, code injection e.g. i still blame bungie for, the easiest kind to detect yet what bungie fails so often to do (battleeye is the joke of anti-cheats)
Xbox gamer here. I started out with just the basic xbox controller, but after trying out my friend's stadia, I fell in love with how the stadia controller felt. About a week later I bought a Razer Wolverine v2 simply because it just fit my hands better like the stadia controller and it has lasted me forever, and I don't think I'd ever buy a different controller at this point. It's a very nice controller.
I use the gamesir G7 SE controller, with a hair-trigger on RT (firing trigger) and I used the software that comes with it to decrease the dead zones on the joysticks to around 3%. I play 16 sense, 0.5 ads mod, 105 fov, max turn scale. I also have crouch/slide mapped to clicking down my right joystick, A (jump) mapped to the right paddle, and b or x mapped to left back paddle (melee or revive/heavy ammo pick-up)
I feel like bumper jumper is just kind of standard for serious players. Like ain’t no way good players have jump binded to X or something. Would you say reducing the dead zones is a big deal? It sounds really jarring to me. I assume there’s a learning curve there. Is it 100% worth, even with the learning curve, or could you afford to skip that?
@@cryengine_xwhat do you see that makes you think that? I’m not calling bullshit, just asking for specific videos/timestamps cause that’s a pretty big claim
@@cryengine_xplayers with frequent hand cams and a lot more history being great destiny players(not cross) than most and you actually think that? Lmao
Only issue with improved controller settings on d2 would be the xim configs also getting much stronger, probably more so than controller. For example, with the deadzones currently present you're immediately hitting those if you move your mouse too fast. Sure, reduced deadzones would massively help controller, but it'd also worsen the ximming problem. Or the customizable aim response curves, could essentially allow a 1:1 input with virtually no aim accel but all the aim assist of a controller.
Glaives are now good anti-cheat against aimbot/wallhack snipers with the passive shield charge giving the ability to peek corners for free and waste enemy ammo. Great video as always, Cam!
If you do end up seeing this, I've always been a console player. I'd probably be considered a "top percentile" player by most standards. Up until a couple months ago I've always used the default controller for ps4 and ps5. Default controller, default button set up with triggers swapped (ADS/Fire with L1/R1 vs L2/R2) I play at 19 sens and .9 ads multiplier. I guess i couldnt say if that makes it feel "good" as I'm not very knowledgeable about how fps games are supposed to feel, but I think it feels good to me. I don't play claw or anything so I've always just whipped my right thumb to whatever button I need to press and back to the stick. Has worked out well enough. When I said this was the case until a couple months ago it's because I bought a battle beaver with 4 back buttons. It was a slog to get used to that after practically 9 or 10 years of playing destiny the same way with no extra buttons but I've gotten used to it. I will say it has made me FEEL like my aim has gotten better but my performance overall hasn't really changed. I'm not sure if this would help you enjoy controller better or whatever intent you were asking for, but I just felt like sharing.
Elite 2 - i've tweaked the thumbstick curve on my aim stick and also the tension on it, which kinda feels better when in D2. In the in-game settings 11 hip turn speed, 0.6 ads (would like this to be more customisable). Use a custom greenthumb layout. It's still not where I'd ideally like (would prefer greater hip fire turn & similar ads as I have now) and I'm loathed to relearn new button combos for a marginal improvement in terms of movement/using abilities more freely.
Just want to say that you made this video very well! Very organized, straight to the point, and you aren’t dumbing down the complexities of the arguments, involving lots of good research/examples while still making it easy to understand. I wonder how many players I’ve been up against running xim or Cronus on console, the cross video had a stat saying it was like a third of all players … that’s scary. My personal set up is an Xbox elite series 2 with paddles for sliding/crouching, and either jumping or reviving depending on my loadout or the game (like in OW I always run jump, same thing in trials, and on strand hunter so I can slide, grab a tangle and 180 turn at the same time, which I do all the time. But otherwise I run jump). My only annoyances with controller is that it limits movement(can’t strafe as fast due to how thumb sticks work, as you talked about) and sens, which also ties into movement, but I like higher sens, feels much more fun and fluid, but higher sens = less precise aim for controller. But controller has more aim assist at least, so if I spec into movement like strand hunter or snap skating on dawnblade, or genji in OW, the movement may be worse, but I have a bit easier time aiming if I hit the initial flick right, which is harder on controller, but the small adjustments aren’t as much of a problem with aim assist
lol a third of all players but he has no evidence, no proof of that and neither does anybody else. zero percent is the actual number imo. both devices absolutely do not work on console. xim is no advantage because it doesnt allow faster movement the input speeds are controller only. zen just doesnt do anything in destiny, it makes you miss. although ps5 banned them the other day anyway. it's pretty hilarious how the destiny boogeyman used to be sbmm, now suddenly zero talk about sbmm and now the new boogeyman. where did sbmm go? why did you stop blaming it for your losses?
@@cryengine_x30% was a stat shown in the aztecross video, and I’ve seen videos of Cronus legit improving rate of fire, or removing recoil. That’s a massive advantage. And in overwatch, xim is rampant is higher level console lobbies
@@Dred-Rivals lol aztecross is a moron, hes not a source for anything where did he get it from? also cronus doesnt help destiny, it makes you miss. neither does xim since the input speed is just controller speed regardless, not mnk speed. you dont have any proof about overwatch either, but maybe xim helps overwatch. i only know about destiny. cammy just needs excuses. i miss when strreamers blamed everything on sbmm. what happened to those days?
@@cryengine_x I got the 1/3 stat from the aztecross video. And I dunno if you even watched this video if you’re saying that xim and Cronus don’t give an advantage on console lol. Cronus is capable of doing stuff like even increasing rate of fire, which is absolutely ridiculous. But more realistically it just removes recoil, which is a massive advantage still. And xim allows you to have the precision of m and k but with the aim assist of controller. Sure you don’t get all the advantages m and k has on regular pc, but it allows you to strafe faster without needing to move the whole stick back and forth, and aim more precisely, which is the main weakness of controller which is why it has aim assist in so many games. But if you have the precision AND the aim assist, that’s ridiculous. It’s why people largely consider it as cheating, including cammy
@@Dred-Rivals cronus cant increase rate of fire. there you go spreading misinformation again. It would be like a turbo button on a snes controller or something, cronus cant actually create more inputs than exist, which is regulated by the game. Not only that but I doubt few to any weapons in destiny are fire rate limited. Hand Cannons are #1 usage by far and obviously they fire very slowly. But no, Cronus absolutely cannot make your 720 SMG a 2000 RPM SMG. Well any FA weapon you max fire rate by holding the button anyway. cronus cant control recoil in destiny either, because it's rng. Maybe the few new guns that have deterministic recoil, I'm honestly not sure about those. ok your points on xim seem legit. but it's just not "omg mnk with controller aim assist" which granted would be very strong. Because it's limited to controller input speed. Maybe its some advantage I honestly dont know. I've never used any of these devices btw. At one time I wanted to buy one just to help my arguments with people that they dont work lol. But I couldn't find one for sale back then. Now, there's no way I'd risk getting my Destiny account banned, since I think Bungie bans them? But I'm going off detailed posts that I've read, and actual users saying they dont help.
When I worked at my local small movie theater, a lot of us played WoW. One of the employees found an automatic fishing macro to use during work rushes. We would all have our laptops lined up on the back counter running the fishing macro simultaneously. After the work rushes, we would cook and sell our fish for gold. Those were good times.
That idea of less aim assist is an interesting one, and something I've wondered about for years in destiny. I grew up on games with no AA (or at least super low AA) so I've always been used to having to put my shots where I want them. Aim training programs were my daily grind, and I was pretty good at them. Not world's best or anything like that, just pretty good. I'm on mnk for reference. Destiny always had that feel like something is pulling my shots away from where I put them, and to be successful I needed to relax my control and let the game do some of the work. That's been my only complaint about the feel of the game since the beginning. It makes my aim lazy af. I doubt anyone will actually read this whole comment, but I'm leaving it anyway! Lol First world D2 problems: As I shoot and that accuracy ring grows, my bullets stop going where I put them. Same with as the stability or range stat worsens on a weapon. And especially when I'm moving and flicking too fast. I don't think I have a perfect understanding of how aim assist works in destiny, but I know full auto and high fire rate weapons feel awful with less of it. Polaris Lance vs Skyburners oath is a perfect example of my confusion. Polaris has 39 AA, and I can hit every crit nearly every time, while Skyburners has 90 AA and it's actually pretty difficult by comparison to hit those crits every time unless we're just talking about stationary follow up shots. It feels like my aiming is too fast for the game, and my shots happen when they should, but the game slows the reticle or something as it approaches the crit. Idk, maybe it's just how lazy my aim has gotten, or my reaction time has slowed down just enough to impact D2 specifically, because I'm still fine in other games that have less AA once I adjust. I picked up a lethophobia with slick draw and golden tricorn. It took me a match or two to get used to it, but it really felt so good for that arrow to go exactly where I put it instead of arcing two feet over at 50 yards. I like the feeling I get when it's obviously my skill that gets me that W. It's really the only thing that makes me focus on improving. If all my shots are RNG as to whether they'll go where I'm aiming because the bullet is sent through a pattern in the reticle ring, then RNG is the only thing to improve, which takes me off the hook for being responsible for my own skill improvements. Suddenly it's the game devs who need to increase my ability to hit shots. That alone is usually enough to put me off a game. Somehow the secret sauce in D2 has had me playing for more than 8k hrs without any real complaints even with all that aim assist throwing off my accuracy. Wow, it feels weird to say that.
yea the shitty way that stability makes your shit stop working has straight up stopped me from using most auto weapons that aren’t smgs or sidearms, so i just use bows a lot lol
Cheaters are plaguing every modern shooter on every platform. Like the cheater epidemic on R6 siege or overwatch and COD almost all top players are xim or playing with xim . I stopped playing destiny a while ago because controller just feels so bad, i upgraded my PlayStation from the 4-5 and the game feels like shit but in 60 fps. Im a siege player on console and ive been playing for nearly 8 years ive hit the highest ranks and have thousands of hours in the game and it feels like stolen valor like my time has been wasted, and ubisoft doesn’t do anything about the cheaters they have an anti cheat on console called “mousetrap” and all it does is give input delay after it detects a xim but all you have to do to fix it is unplug the xim turn off/on your controller then plug the xim back in
Yes I rarely play multiplayer games anymore because it's truly awful. Can't even load up battlefield on PC anymore without multiple hackers in literally every lobby.
I play on Xbox I use an Xbox Elite Series 2 and use the default Xbox accessories app to configure my controller. 3 paddles The two right: my jump and crouch The 1 on left: reload/interact Left/right stick config: Sensitivity curve: instant Curve adjustment: 2/10 Left and right triggers are at 50 for for max input at less trigger pull. The rest of my cofnig, I usually mess with in game settings with whatever game I’m playing. Destiny 2: 105 FOV 16 Sensitivity with a .6 ADS sensitivity modifier Sprint turn scale: .8 That’s my config. Love the content you put out man. I admire the hell out of you! 😁
The biggest thing that annoys me as a controller player is that devs balance aim assist by making recoil greater natively. Meaning that even if you turn off aim assist - which I do if given the option - I'm at a much more significant disadvantage. If I could have MnK levels of recoil when I turn AA off I'd literally never use aim assist again. I just want my guns to shoot straight. I don't use any settings in any controllers, I don't use macros, I'll adjust deadzones and things like that if given the in game option, but if it isn't in the game I think it's murky in terms of acceptability.
Hey cammy, this was a thorough video and your closing question was enough to bring me to your comment section. In destiny 1 I rocked an 8 sensitivity on a standard Xbox controller then bought 2 elite series 1’s. When Destiny 2 came out I always rocked 10 initially. When the sensitivity buffs came out, I found a sweet spot at 15 sense with a 0.6 modifier, sprint modifier was set to max at 0.8. I’ve owned 3 Elite series 2’s as they tend to break a lot and my current controller is a Frankenstein controller running off parts from each of my elite series 2 purchases. I have all 4 paddles (top left crouch, top right jump, bottom left class ability, bottom right swap weapons). Thumbsticks are standard length and loosest tension. My left thumbstick is set to the Aggressive curve maxed. My right thumbstick is set to the Smooth curve @ the 2nd notch. I reached a breaking point recently where all I faced in trials were PK donning titans rocking max range rolled SMGs with minimal stability but maximized aim assist. I’m not gonna lie, I searched up ways to use a cronus and where to buy one. I never bought it but I still feel dirty for even considering it. I’m glad I stayed clean as I just knew the community was reaching a breaking point and I wanted to maintain my dignity. Im happy to rely on my natural ability to use weapons to the absolute max potential such as min/maxed heliocentric sidearm with Moving target/Precision Instrument so I can TTK edge and maximized an 80 mobility Khepris Horn Titan.
The issue with crouch spammers is not that it's a big advantage (tho it probably is if you try to headshot) or that you might emulate it manually (which you can't, at least not without distracting yourself), but that it poses the question what other scripts they are running.
I see this often brought up, but crouch spamming is very easily done by binding hold crouch to other buttons. It is not at all indicative of a script and anyone can do it pretty easily and accessibly.

Great video. As a MnK player, the 20% deadzone on controller in Destiny is crazy. That single-handedly is the greatest disadvantage I can think of and probably the reason why it feels so awful to use. I use an opensource software called Raw Accel to change my mouse inputs from a linear curve to a logarithmic one. This gives me the benefit of having low sensitivity precision with low acceleration movements and the ability to do 180s with faster movements without having to go across my whole desk. If I were on controller, I would immediately search for a similar piece of software to reduce the deadzone size and be able to have a similar acceleration experience with more fine grain control. In my eyes, that would not be cheating as it would modify inputs by a constant set of formulas, similar to that of a change in sensitivity. Any software that goes beyond this limited scope of input manipulation would in my eyes be cheating. Any automation of inputs, macros or otherwise in my eyes is equally cheating. I really hope AI anticheat such as Waldo Vision is able to detect this sort of thing in the future.
The other candidates for controller handicap is strafe acceleration and aim acceleration (which you have to set the sense really high to make it hit the speed cap faster)

Thank you 👍🙂great video. I use nothing. I have concidered buying a scuff. But I’m not a pvp main anymore. I won a some thumb sticks via Kruzer back in the day. Thats abt it. Console only btw.
To answer your final question, Cammy: I've been a console only gamer my whole life and have been playing destiny pvp since 2014 when I was only 11. I'm a good pvp player, not the best of the best like yourself, but definitely in the top 1%. Since D2's launch, I have always solely used an Xbox elite controller, having bought multiple v1s and then the v2 because they break so easily. I use the right paddle to jump and the left paddle to crouch. I have also customized the dead zones in the Xbox controller app. I run 15 sens with 0.8 multiplier, but I do switch it up occasionally. I had no idea that cheating on console was so widespread until the videos from you and Aztecross. Hope my comment can be of some help to you. I love your videos and have been watching you since I was a little kid, and now I'm in college. Keep up the fantastic work.
Hey Cammy, you asked for some controller advice at the end of your video and I thought I’d provide some. For reference, I play on Xbox series x and have been a part of the Destiny community since Taken King with playing regularly for about 4-6 hours a day (changes depending on school). I started out using a regular controller that came with the console and adjusted my sensitivity to 7 and kept it there for all of D1 and some of D2 until they introduced higher sensitivity options. At that point I went up to 14, played with it for a month and realized that was too much, then went down to 12 where it’s been and probably will remain. I don’t mess with any of the dead zone options or anything extra, just sensitivity and have my muscle memory trained to that specific turning ratio and it’s resulted in me feeling confident in all my gunfights because I’m so finely tuned with the speed at which I turn. This helps with knowing how far I need to turn in order to hit a flick, how far I need to turn to back slide away from my opponents, as well as how much I need to hold down on the thumb stick to keep my recoil steady. I don’t even know what dead zones mean or any of the extra jargain even though I’ve only been a console player for years. As far as the controller I use I’ve found great success in the Elite series 2 controller because solely of the paddles. Being able to press a paddle on the back without having to quickly swap to claw then back again saves necessary time and has allowed me to do a lot of “tech” movements and inputs that gives me an upper hand. It’s still possible with a normal controller but requires a lot more moving my grip around constantly which has gotten me killed in some cases. However, I don’t recommend the Elite Series 2 controller because while it’s very comfortable and has a ton of great settings at your disposal, I’ve found that they don’t last long at all for their price. I’ve had 2 elite controllers and both of them have had their problems after only a year of use, which for the price is ridiculous. I’m looking for a new controller with paddles that isn’t gonna break the bank since I’ve gotten so used to the paddles but I’m not in a rush. The regular Xbox controller has been working great for me. Thanks if you actually read this and let me know if there’s any clarification needed or if you had any questions.
I agree with it not lasting long, but most physical stores (at least where I live) offer warranty. It usually costs a bit extra, I paid slightly more for the controller and have returned it around 6 times already in the 2 years Ive had it with no extra costs. So I think its worth it but I understand your issues with it.
Hey Cam! Controller recommendations: I heard this one loud and clear. I used to have the same issue you felt when I was playing on my ps4. Once I switched to a ps5 I felt like I at least wasn’t held back by my hardware and I really got down to the nitty gritty of my settings. I used to run max sense all the time and I’m not a hyper aggressive HC/shotty player. I dialed that back to 15 sense and 1.5 still on the ADS modifier. The controller itself is the ps5 dualsense edge with a tall ControlFreak on the right stick to give me fine control over my aim. While the shape still leaves something to be desired(I have arthritis in my hands so the “shriveled grip” is still kind of uncomfortable) it’s miles better than the old ps4 dualsense. This has the added benefit of giving me paddles so I’m not constantly taking my fingers off my aiming stick to jump and/or crouch. I have the jump bound to left paddle and hard toggle crouch bound to right paddle with hold crouch also bound to L3(This lets me crackhead slide in pvp). I also have interact bound to right paddle which lets me still freely aim and shoot back while crouching and reviving in PvP. I have mostly default button binds except I have my unpowered melee bound to R3 and powered bound to R1 so I can pick and choose which one I use when. I have finisher bound to L3/R3 combo so I’m not doing it accidentally in PvE. This is the most comfortable setup I’ve found for running PvP without the game feeling like aiming through molasses or feeling too loose and uncontrollable on the opposite end. The only drawbacks is adjusting to the new button positions and I had to do some weird rebinds in the ps5 edge custom button layouts to make space for button combos. A funny side effect is that sometimes I emote instead of reloading. lol I fixed that by changing the emote time to be long hold and reload to be short press. Thankfully special reloads always seem to take priority(like Izanagi) because they’re also long press. Hope this helps bro!
Seeing anklegator's controller in a Destiny video is a bit of a trip. I've seen it IRL, it's hilarious. For the non-fgc folks here, it's almost like a modern art thing where anklegator is trying to explore the limits of what's legal on a controller, and they do actually play on it--the layout is trying to achieve something similar to macros, where certain difficult button combinations (kara Potemkin Buster being the one I remember) are made easier by just running your finger across a row of buttons.
I’m a PS5 player. 2.23 trials KD with over 130k kills. Classed as top 0.1% (500) per external websites. I main Titan. I use a stock PS5 controller. My config for destiny is: R3 - Hold crouch - This allows me to throw a crouch in (or spam) without moving my thumb. It also allows me to slide without moving my thumb. It took a lot of getting used too. O - this is class ability. L2 - Aim R2 - Shoot L1 - Punch R1 - Grenade - The top buttons are personal preference. Square - Revive (i claw ONLY on revive/power) Triangle - Swap weapon (default) X - Jump Sens - 12 ADS - 0.9 Turn - Max, 1.0? No major adjustments. I consistently get called “cheater” and accused to be using a XIM/Cronus etc. when i play with PC friends the PC opposition do the same. I feel as if people just cannot accept other people can just be better than them without a reason other than skill/practise/talent etc. I’ve played Vs. Some top streamers and re-watched the VoD as i value watching back from PoV of enemy to better my game especially when i lose. But, again. Some accuse me live on stream. I’m 29 and played FPS since i was ~13 so i have 16 years experience. I’m not flashy, not sliding everywhere and trickshoting. My aim is damn near perfect and my game sense is “experienced” and that is my own organic “advantage” over most players. @cammycakes gaming i would happily spend some time with you and talk you through etc.
The only thing I have on my controller for console are Kontrol Freak stick attachments in order to raise the profile of the stick so I can get more precise movement at low stick distance. I've used nothing else, ever, and don't really feel the need to.
Some more reasons why the Xim and Cronus are getting more popular is the games themselves. The live-service game is by far the most popular genre these devices are used in because these games have been out for years. Fortnite, Destiny 2, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Rust, CoD have all been out for 4+ years. When a game is out that long: -The audience grows immensely (if it’s successful). That will just naturally bring in more cheaters. It will also create content creators (who then might have a monetary incentive to cheat in this way). -If the game is competitive in any way (intentional or not). People will chase the highest rank by whatever means they deem “necessary”. -Player skill will plateau at some point, and some players want to be better immediately without facing the diminishing returns that come from playing more or dedicating actual time and thought into learning something super obscure. The idea of delayed gratification is lost when a player joins a game late. -If a new player goes into these games this late, they will get completely destroyed by veterans. When this happens, the player has choices: hope SBMM takes the wheel and protects them, tough it out and learn the game through facing (and likely losing to) better players, or buy and use the shortcut of a Xim/Cronus to “catchup” to veteran players with artificial combos/techs or aim. -Xim/Cronus users have the time to develop increasingly more effective settings through finding the niche details of the game to optimize scripts and aim assist. This can create more Xim/Cronus users who do the same because of how much the scripts help. -Elitism for cross play games. When cross play is a feature for these games, the community separates naturally into the platforms: Console/PC ; Xbox/Playstation ; PC/Xbox/Playstation. The difference between the inputs or features of each group leads to the group that loses feeling like the other had an advantage. People have different responses to feeling this way (reporting, trash talking, crying in social media, etc…). If it’s the MnK group that loses, some will resort to hard cheats (and they’ll get banned eventually). More dangerous is the console group. If they feel this way, you better believe that some will buy a Xim or Cronus, and that these people won’t get banned. Xim and Cronus have been around much longer than anyone realizes, but it’s the 10-year games that have made them an increasingly prevalent issue. Now that the devices are so popular and haven’t been dealt with at all (though Sony might have temporarily dented Cronus use, a workaround will probably show up soon), similar programs are showing up in games on launch. The Finals faced the ReWASD issue when it wasn’t even out for 2 months. For how Destiny 2 feels on controller, but more specifically Console. It feels terrible. 10 years of Destiny, and console users’ only way to change their aim is still limited sensitivity options. This is bad enough, but the absolute worst thing is that the crosshair on console platforms is not in the center of the screen, it’s significantly below center. On PC, this setting can be changed. On console, the original platform Destiny started on, it cannot. I play on 5 sens with 1.0 ads modifier on my Ps5 because that was my default (so what I played on) since Destiny 1, so I know what my aim can and cannot do. I guess the Destiny console philosophy is don’t fix issues for the group who can’t be heard because the only changes that were notable for consoles were button remapping, sprint-turn scale, sens options going from 10 to 20 (this is the only console specific one IIRC).
Would love to hear your opinion on this one. The only "cheat" I ever used in D2 was at the time when sbmm made the network stability so terrible I used a router at which you could limit the distance between you the server and other players. So as an European I made sure I was only playing with other people from Europe and connections were way better for everyone in my lobby's but you could also argue I manipulated matchmaking to ignore sbmm.
Finally more people are taking notice of how ridiculous all of this cheating is. This is coming from a "top 500" player. It honestly makes me want to quit pvp temporarily.
I just use my base PS5 controller. I prefer to leave the settings as is due to how limited customization in on the controllers half. I typically pair this with higher sensitivity to help myself keep up with PC players as I find the slow turn speed to be a huge detriment. One major note that I will add is that some controllers will have different calibrations for how fast you can look around/move due to how the controller was built. My preferred controller has a looser look stick that allows me to turn faster than my other controllers due to the resistance not being as strong in comparison to others. I don’t personally feel like spending an arm and a leg on a “better” controller when I have one that just works. If you want a good controller, make sure that it’s feel fits the way you want to play. If you have a majority of your actions bound to buttons: make sure the buttons feel right. If you like to flick: pick a controller that has less resistance and a smaller dead zone. I’m nothing special with my controller selection, but that’s my perspective on this. Edit: I am a GL main on console, so I’m biased towards having an easier time looking around, but everything else I said prior stands as is. 16 Sens, 1.8x multiplier (Could be higher.), max turn scale radius bump.
i've never had an issue with playing against "ximmers" because from an improver mentality having perfect level aim is to be expected, if everyone has perfect aim then there would be other things to focus on such as positioning, timing, resource management etc.. and it's the same thing in fighting games. players with good execution will make you hate the character they're using and it shifts the game's meta into a poking meta, in the case of destiny 2 there are so many legitimate degenerate strategies that they might as well be considered cheating because they are so infuriating to deal with and adding a crouch spamming immortal smg invis hunter to the mix is only adding more fuel to a fire you can't extinguish. not trying to defend people who use xim but what bothers me more than them are the people constantly crying about them as if they're the devil of some sort.
To answer your question, I'm an ascendant in comp, with a roughly 1.8 kd, I use the standard software on a standard ps5 controller, and i dont use ANY modifications to my console. I dont claim myself as best console player, but, i say im doing well for myself. What got me to feel better with d2 settings was really just playing the game, ive got about 2.1k hours on it now, so im very familiar with the controls, and thats about it.
I use the Victrix Gambit Pro on Xbox. I use four back buttons which are tuned to A (Class ability) , B (Hold to Crouch) , X (Reload - great for bow cancel) , Y (weapon swap) so I don't have to take my thumbs off my sticks. This controller comes with comes with adjustable trigger stops and I have mine on the shortest (?) setting so the that trigger press is as shallow as possible. LB is tied to jump, RB grenade and RS is melee. I have Kontrol freak on RS and I play on 10 sens which is enough to 180 during a stompees/dunes slide and have 0.8 ADS multiplier. My sprint turn is the highest possible. I use the full auto setting for most guns except hand cannons
Last month, I switched to a Dualsense Edge on PS5 from the regular controller because I felt like I was plateau-ing with my controller capabilities. Aim and shoot on the triggers, R1 grenade, L1 hold crouch, X (right paddle) jump, Triangle (left paddle) weapon swap, melee right stick press, sprint left stick. No stick changes, no trigger stops. There’s a ton of stick deadzone settings and button deadzone settings I haven’t used because this is the first time I’ve ever used a controller with paddles-just using default D2 sens (12 and 0.5). It’s been a learning curve, and I don’t see a huge improvement yet other than jumping and aiming together easier. I heard a lot of top controller players play with paddles so I thought it might do me good.
Top notch video. I 100% want better roller settings, it feels so wacky, borderline relearning how I aim playing other games with specific deadzone settings. I feel like achieving a solution (for me at least) is out of the question, I don’t want to have to spend extra money and/or ruin the fun I have by stressing about the potential of something being banned in the future. It may be a lazy or cop out answer as far as playing to win, but my goal is to have fun.
To the last question: I use PS5 Edge Controller, with a custom curve. It´s really great you can also circumvent the deadzones with it. I use also a Control freak on the right stick
Good Video Cammy. I play on a PS5 with a Dualsense Edge controller. We have those settings in the Edge controller settings on the console itself and we can have multiple configs for different games. It's basically the same thing you just got with your new Xbox controller you were testing and configuring on stream. Only thing is that the Dualsense Edge doesn't have Hal-Effect sticks available for it yet, but at least the sticks themselves are modular and easily replaced. Admittedly been years since I've played any FPS/TPS games on PC(MnK back in the mid-2000s), but I hope this info helps.
24:32 i currently am not liking my wolverine ultimate bc the back paddles are too far away for me. I also remapped my uncharged melee to right stick press and i find that this controller is bad for mis-presses. The elite controller i had was better on both fronts. The wolverine has a dpi setting (called focus) so you can slow down while aiming. I thought i would use it but dont. Most days i am on 20 sense when sniping but do like lower settings for primary gun fights. The big problem is whipping around. Low sense and you cant do it vs missing a few shots…idk…The one thing you didnt talk about is single button press advantage. Eg icarus dash default is double press on console/controller vs pc which you can remap for one button press. Pc just has more buttons.
7:00 The auto-crouch makes me think of a Trials match I had where the PK Titan would literally jitter crouch spam whenever he got into a gunfight. I was laughing more than being pissed off. It was stupid as hell
2 words cammy, Razer. Wolverine. God's gift to controllers. Its got all the config controls you would want, the buttons are both tactile and more responsive than other controllers. it has trigger stops, 4 paddles and 2 additional buttons between the triggers and the bumpers. and it is miles more durable than an elite controller, mine lasted 2 years before any drift/response issues
Not played D2 PvP in about 2 months. I use a Dualsense Edge controller, with the two paddles (left paddle mapped to use/revive/reload & right paddle mapped to crouch/slide) and no other settings changed. In game I use the Bumper Jumper layout and I think I changed my melee bind to not be automatic
Quick clarification, not a pvp fan but definitely a pve sweat. I use an elite series 2 controller with tweaked stick input recognition in the Xbox settings themselves. The series 2 gives you shorter trigger pulls and you can tension the sticks down when you pop off the joysticks (which I tighten for more precision). 15 sense with max 105fov and my paddles are all the face buttons (A,B,X,Y) so I never take my thumb away from aiming. Never used the gray area cheatsy shit, never will. With this combination I play better than 99% of the LFG players I come across, MnK included. The only major downside to series 2 is that they definitely have a short expiration date on peak performance, as they begin to wear and lose stick tension after about 3 months
As someone who play a lot of fps games. My overall skill when up by ~30% when I swapped to a new gen, and even more by buying kontrolfreeks. I also bought a powerA controller with two back paddles. Before that I had a old gen with an elite series controller and I was noticably worse during that. The setting I use as an Xbox player is: 20 look sens, .7 ads modifier, max turn scale, and I have custom binds as follows: alternate weapon on double tap X, super on left D-pad, charged melee on right stock in, uncharged on right bumper, hold crouch on press B, both hunter and titan ability on hold B, warlock on double tap since I use Phoenix dive, and press right on D-pad to pull out my heavy. My two paddles are A (jump) on the left and B (crouch) on the right.
Glad you talked about steaminput. It's such a great feature that lets me play indie shmups that a) dont have great native controller remapping support and/or b) might need autofire to avoid RSI. In a single player game that's really handy, but clearly any sufficiently powerful feature can be misused.
DS4 or DS5 (rumblers removed) full control scheme Fire-R2 Hold zoom-L2 Reload- both stick click Alternate weapon action- both stick click(hold) Charged melee-R1 Uncharged melee-L1+R1 Grenade-R1+R2 Super-dpad down Jump-L1 Finisher-triangle(hold) Highlight player- dpad up(hold) Sprint toggle-Left stick click Crouch toggle-right stick click Light attack-R1 Heavy attack-R2 Block-L2 Breakout-dpad down(double) All class abilities- right stick click(double) Icarus-Left stick click(instant dash off ledges or jumps while sprinting) Air dive-left stick click(again for instant dives when leaving the ground while running, very recommended for easy controller shatter skating) Kenetic or energy swap-square+X Kenetic-square Energy-x Heavy-circle Vehicle controls are defaults Interact-triangle Emotes I’m sure are’t important but are as follows 1-triangle(double) 2-square (double) 3-dpad left 4-dpad right
It sucks, however anti-cheat banning needs to occur in periodic waves. It's an arms race between the anti-cheat and cheat creators. Essentially information warfare, where too frequent or prompt banning may provide too many details of new detection methodology. Cammy isn't wrong though.
Haven't even played destiny in a couple years, but I still love your content. This video resonates with me on a separate level due to the parallels with the cheating issues in my new main girl, Tarkov. Of course there's huge differences, and of course, every game will have its cheaters, but I truly agree that swift, decisive action on the part of developers could mitigate the issues to a much greater degree than seems to be the case. Hopefully you find a way to reach your full potential on controller, and I'd love to see you in Tarkov.
19:29 they don’t enforce this policy, I played a solar warlock on pc who could titan ice slide, had acd feedback fence, had frost pulse, bullets that slow you, respawned faster, and got super faster, gets unfrozen fast. they banned him but not his buddy.
I use a Dualsense Edge on PS5 and I enjoy it a lot. It allows me to map my jump and charged melee buttons to paddles to make it a little less awkward to aim/ crouch and jump at the same time, as well as separating my melees into 2 seperate inputs. It doesn’t add new inputs, only allows you to map an existing input to a paddle. This combined with being able to adjust aim response curve as well as deadzones make it worth the price to me. That and if you end up with stick drift you can swap out the analog stick module instead of buying a whole new controller
Hey Cammy, top 1% trials player here on PS5, I use PS pro controller, no dead zone change, I use an a very slight exponential aim curve (native ps pro controller settings that comes with the controller) which allows me to keep low sens at low to moderate stick movement, then faster sens as I push the sticks out to max. 13 sensitivity in game, with a .5 ADS modifier. Hip fire is a huge problem for me, which I know you value though. But you said you want to know so there ya go!
I’m away from the house and don’t remember my settings off-hand but I’ve recently started using a Scuf controller on PS5 and I’ve made a few observations: 1. The instant triggers didn’t help me as much as I expected. During the adjustment period and A-B testing the controllers for their differences (a stock PS5 controller and the Scuf one mentioned), it occurred to me on the regular PS5 controller that I hold the top half of the triggers instead of the bottom half (meaning the distance traveled for the activation press was less on the base controller than what it could be if I held the bottom of the trigger instead, thus bringing it closer into parity with the Scuf). Biggest difference with instant triggers is the comfort of not having to hold as sharp of an angle on the triggers (although you have slightly more travel time to the bumpers if you play further down). 2. Crouch spamming while shooting, even with paddles, feels just as impossible as it did on a stock controller (even with using hold-to-crouch). The pressure from pushing in on the trigger and up on the paddle creates an awkward feeling like the controller wants to jump out of my hand. This and some interpersonal interactions with others have just reaffirmed that crouch spammers might not be entirely legit. 3. The only really quality of life things using back paddles has provided me are: - not having to use a face button to switch weapons thusly eliminating the need to move right thumb off the stick or move two fingers up (I have a habit of playing claw, it comes out more in pve at this point than it does pvp) - being able to slide-crouch cancel easier the way I do it (run, slide, press in on the left stick - I know simply changing crouch from toggle to hold would make this much more easier but I feel like it would create muscle memory that would conflict with my pve habits at this point and I know I would remember to flip-flop the setting between pve and pvp).
Agree with you on settings, for sure we need to be able to adjust specific metrics for each player, I'm playing on a Power A fusion pro 2, just pads at the rear of controller to be able to stick my finger on aiming all the time
I’m console for D2, mainly on Xbox Series X but dabble on PS5 here and there too. The controller I use on Xbox is the Wolverine Chroma V2. It has four paddles down the back middle of the controller and two buttons between the bumpers/triggers. I know Razer has an app on Xbox (forgot what it’s called), but you can remap the buttons, paddles, adjust the chroma and I know there is another function on there that I believe is called focus. From what I remember, you basically can assign an input that after it is pressed it will slow down your aiming or at least make your movement a little more intentional. From what I understood, it seemed like it was meant for ADS in FPS games but I could be completely wrong because I don’t use it. I think my settings on D2 itself are set at 7 for sensitivity and button layout is set to puppeteer. As for PS5, I rarely play on there but use the pro controller Sony made for PS5 and it’s alright. It has two paddles on the back that you can swap out similar to the Elite on Xbox, but the battery life is abysmal. I would definitely recommend the Razer Wolverine line though, I got the Wolverine TE a few years back and have stuck with the line and new updated models ever since. The paddle layout for the most part is good and the two buttons in between the bumpers are a game changer. I have jump, crouch, reload and weapon swap all assigned to paddles so my thumbs never leave the sticks. Would recommend that if you’re looking for a good controller, but not sure how much it will help with how D2 feels on console lol. I’m not a pc player and not good at MnK on console games that support it so I’m not too great at knowing the difference. Hope this kinda helped provide some insight!
I use an Elite Series 2 controller. I use all 4 paddles Top right- X button/Reload Bottom right-A button/Jump Top left- Y button/Switch weapons Bottom left- Right stick click/Coruch Both my thumbsticks are set to instant Both my triggers are on 20 I do all this on the Xbox Accessories app I've been using this configuration for years now.
I'm a controller player who wasn't the best but definitely above average, I recently moved to pc in October and mainly made the switch because of xims/Cronus. I had a 3kd in the seasons I played the most and have around 20 or so flawless runs. I'm also an ex top 500 player on overwatch so I feel like I know what I'm talking about when it comes to controller. So when it comes to controller on destiny 2, I completely agree with the game feeling terrible. Especially compared to other games I have played like overwatch and siege. The main way I've gotten around it is having an elite series 2 controller because you can change the tension on the thumb sticks with the tool you get with the controller, I have made them as loose as possible so it requires very little force to move the thumb stick, which in practice makes it feel like you have a lower dead zone. It's not perfect, but it's the closest you could get without any of these modded controllers. My sens on destiny is 16 with ads modifier of 0.9 and I have 4 paddles that I use for dodge jump melee and interact. I have my dodge set to left on the d-pad and melee set to up on the d-pad, then I have back buttons bound to these respectively. The reason I do this is so I can have an uncharged and a charge melee bindings (charged melee being default) on controller and to be able to have my dodge separated from my crouch button so I can dodge instantly without needing to spam a button. I hope this helps you on getting better on controller, it's been awesome to watch.
i used to use a XIM a long time ago to play the on ps4 with my xbox elite controller and it sucks to see a somewhat small group of people ruin things for everyone else.
I use a basic PS5 controller on console. Back when I used to main shadebinder I got tired of whiffing my charged melee when wanting to uncharge after a shotgun shot so I keep charged on R1 uncharged on R3. With strand I also changed my my interact button to L2 to quickly grab a tangle after a melee grapple kill, and shoot while reviving. Tougher to pull heavy and die to randomly grabbing a tangle above me when trying to aim but it’s helped me have more semblance of choice 🤷🏼 lol
Very interesting video. I am not well versed in the whole device thing other than just knowing their names and what they do, but I have to admit, as a top player, it is frustrating to have to worry if the player was just better than me, if I made a bad play, or does he just have an advantage that was impossible to overcome anyways. With al that aside, I do have controller settings that have made Destiny 2 feel less sluggosh coming from a default ps5 controller to the pro. In fact, I honestly think to play at the highest skill level, it becomes necessary. Here are my settings: Dualsense Edge: Button Assignments - O and R3 are remapped, Left back paddle is X, Right back paddle is Sqaure Stick Sense/Deadzones - Left stick digital curve with -4 curve adjustment and 0% dz adjustment, Right stick quick curve with -4 curve adjustment and 0% dz adjustment (I don't know if these setting clash with the default curve and deadzones of Destiny 2 unfornately but they definitely help me feel quicker. The only time you have to take your thumb off the joystick is to quickly switch weapons, but buttons optimized for jumping, crouching, sliding, and interaction with environment. ) Destiny 2 Settings: Default Movement Controls Button Layout: Auto Melee is R1, uncharged melee is R3 (to avoid conflict with throwable melees and strand grappling), finisher is down and right on dpad, inspect player is down and left on player, everything else is default Look Sensitivity - 16 ADS Sens - 1.0 Sprint - Turn Scale - 0.8 Double Press Delay - 1 No Vibration settings for anything (the tingle makes my hand feels wierd) Not trying to promote my video in your comments or anything but I am posting a controller setting video tomorrow as well, I am posting a controller settings video tomorrow, I am a smaller channel as well. Hope this helps you cammy and great video as always!
Playstation player here to chime in with my settings. Base PS5 controller. Default movement and button controls Look Sens 10, ADS Sens 0.8 Sprint-Turn 0.8 Double Press Delay 1 120Hz Crucible Mode on FoV 105 Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain off Other configs are default. At some point, I do want to take advantage of changing my inputs for charged vs uncharged melee so they aren't mapped together, but that'll take some getting used to. Basically, my settings are almost completely vanilla, and I still put in an average 1.5 K/D even with "bad" loadouts. You're speaking my language when it comes to Bungie giving us better control over or stick sensitivity and other configs, I just hope they listen and implement it soon.
I use Razer Wolverine v1 (I prefer V1 over v2), I use the paddles that change the sensitivity in real time I use for turning around instantly (by holding a paddle to increase the sensitivity during the turn), everything else is just standard, I'm a 1.7KD on IB still learning, you might be able to use them to deal with the deadzones but that will require holding another button to increase the sensitivity momentaneously
I use a dual sense edge on ps5, both stick clicks mapped to the back paddles, powered melee assigned to to the dual simultaneous stick clicks, and non power melee on right bumper. If I'm playing trials or comp, crouch and run go to the back paddles while power melee remains dual stick click and non powered melee on the right bumper. Dead zones always go to the smallest value possible without drift regardless of what I'm playing.
My Config: I use an elite series 2 (yes they are plagued with issues over time) . Aggressive setting on left thumb stick, default on the right, Shift function on top left paddle. All paddles have a default and shift action. Can be specific if anyone wants to know, but that’s the basics.
Thankyou for pointint out the difference between controller settings in CoD vs D2. When it comes to aim assist being an issue even in cod it can be to strong to the point of yanking me off target. Difference is i can better finish people off then move onto some one else in cod vs in d2. In d2 my aim being yanked away always results in my death. Also because of dead zones and the such i feel like i am moving in mud when im playing in the crucible while i feel so much faster in CoD. One way i know its time to get a new controller is when i move the camera around. If its noticeably slower in d2 then in CoD its new controller time. I have used custom controllers in the past but im currently using a base ps5 controller for my ps5 and i think its time for a new one as things stand
Great video. I didn’t know anything about all this stuff until now. I play on controller, for 10+ years and don’t know what m&k feels like. I don’t care, I have good muscle memory and play all three characters. I have a respectable KDA and enjoy the game as is.
I use a scuff reflex controller for PlayStation and a scuff instinct on Xbox. I maxed out the settings to 20 but I use control freaks foam rings to slow down the aim when I ADS. This gives me the benefit of eight or nine sensitivity when aiming down sites, but I can still make quick turns to get out of a jam or to keep up with MnK users when I play on PC. I sent pictures of my set up to one of your admins in your discord.
I'm a quadriplegic. I don't have any fine motor skills and have been playing destiny since it launched on ps3. I also have been playing destiny 2 on ps4 since it launched. I recently got a computer and have been playing destiny 2 on that. I can only use a controller to play because of my lack of fine motor skills, and I can honestly say that I can't tell the difference between using a Playstation 4 controller or Xbox controller. I also have never used anything to help me with my aiming or recoil as much as I would like to, but I never knew about anything that could help until seeing both yours and aztecross' videos. I can say without a doubt that I will not be buying or using anything to help me if it could lead to me getting banned. I am ok/decent at the game, but I am having a heck of a time getting my suros regime catalyst finished because of my lack of fine motor skills lol.
Hey Cammy, you asked for our setups, and what we do to make controller bearable. Played console for years, hopped to PC and still using controller. Jump from one to another seamlessly. Both Xbox and PS5. Over the years, I've gone through 4 sens, to 20, and tried everything in between for extended periods of time. The deadzone on Elite controller series 2 (the white one), at least on series X/PC do not look like they are 20%. At least on my hands, the smallest move of my stick generates move in Destiny 2. I wish I could record a video with a controller overlay to show you. The deadzone on DualShock or Victrix PRO BFG yeah, it's 20%. I have to input a lot of stick tension to get movement on D2, which in turn makes higher sensitivities useless and binary. On Xbox / PC, I use an Elite Series 2. The white one, like I say. This one has better buttons, so unless I'm terribly lucky, breaks less. For reference, I've had 5 black elites, and just 1 white. Going strong after 1 year of continued D2 (almost 20h a week, pvp and pve). Left stick curve is agressive at max setting. The right stick is: default curve, radial calc and I use a tall stick extender. Maybe that's why I feel every little move gives results? I don't know. To my knowledge, I have no steam input settings. I haven't fiddled with that, that I know of. I played 20 sens over the last year, and it takes like 1h to warm up to it, but you totally can, even sniping. This year though, I've dialed it down back to 14 0.7, because I realized if I can move and feel ok, I can't aim because I have too much sensitivity. Kinda like you and your sensitivity journey. Too much sens, then I can't aim precisely (think aiming spike grenades, rebounding melees, etc). And let's not talk about aiming in diagonal... because not only deadzones are big, they are skewing your diagonal aiming. Diagonal flicks feel nearly impossible, always under or over target. Also, crosshair setting (pc or console) changes your POV, so recoil looks a bit different depending on you setting. Console setting to my recollection, causes less screen shake than PC default, but that could be me. I use console always. I hope you continue on this way of mastering both inputs. We need vocal community memebers with your mindset. Controller aiming on D2, despite what the popular discourse is, is in a very dire state like you highlighted. It feels like Bungie doesn't want to upgrade the options so there's less cheating on it, but IMO that's a bleak way of thinking. The worst problem this game has, is aiming acceleration on controller, and strafe accel/decel. It makes you have to "wish aim" like I call it: you look at your target and let your senses do the work, kinda like when you flick... but with everything, even shotguns or grenade placements. It sucks.
I play on XSX and have used an elite 2 forever. On D2, I use the max sensitivity of 20 with a 0.7 ADS modifier and a 0.8 turn scale. For the controller I just have instant response curve and digital hair trigger input (I don’t use the physical trigger locks because the hardware is janky sometimes). I use all 4 paddles with each assigned to one of the face buttons: A,B,X,Y. I use my right stick click as my crouch/dive abilities/warlock rift/titan barricade and my B button as Icarus dash or as dodge on hunter. The primary issues I face in PVP is trouble shotgun flicking up close and trouble aim adjusting airborne due to the fact that my sensitivity needs to be so high for better movement.
Didn't expect to see you here, found your content recently and been enjoying it
where is the evidence of 51%? oh right you just made it up.
on pc maybe. there is no cheating on console.
@@cryengine_x Its amazing you said something completely wrong with such confidence. Are you just a cheater trying to throw off the scent? Hilarious
Since Apex started taking actions, high-level lobbies are empty and just full of bots. Weird.
Just shows they were all fake… we will see real skill rise again, hopefully soon, since PS and Xbox are both banning by the detection of Cronus. Hopefully all PC games do the same, it’s time for these cheaters to not have any leverage…
That game was always full of these losers lmao

Thats why you see good players getting rolled by controllers, the other players are good but using controller giving them aim assist.

I got banned from his chat for calling him out for it back then.
Because you can’t crouch spam on controller that fast as someone with Cronus/xim

You're a gem in this community Cammy. Thnx

“Underwater with aimbot” is an outrageously accurate way to describe controller aim
Facts lmao, add the garbage connections of cross play to the mix and suddenly we're underwater aimbots fighting ghosts too
"Fighting Lion is the best anticheat this game has ever had" I feel that one, it's gotten to the point it never leaves my inventory and usually in pvp doesn't leave my hands either. As much as people might hate it, with how many people out there that are cheaters, it really is one of the few ways to actually effectively counter cheaters
Is it cause the weapon is infinite GL use and cheaters can't handle Gls much?
@@tensedart3470 if an aimbot will one shot you around a corner if you peek, you can use lion to hit around the corner to kill or even just flinch away the snipes. Probably more but those are great reasons to use it
@austynh1 sounds like Chester's can't counter Gls well and Lion is too good to use against them
pretty much.
Similar situation. I use M&K, but I use my feet. The "accessibility" arguments from Cronus/Xim are tiresome.
huge props for showing the optimal potemkin hitbox was not expecting to see that
Yessss the amount of times my “intentional” aim was thwarted due to Over aim assist in Destiny can not be overstated

@@yerfriendlyneighborhoodsco3337 If instant supers after first invasion isn't cheating or self rezzing then I don't know what is.
I do like how the razer controller has its own software. The sense clutch option is really nice for using higher sense.
Thank you! I've been hearing so many of these terms thrown around (especially ximming in Destiny 2), and I had no idea what was going on.
It's Powerpoint time with everyone's favourite Uncle!
Extremely professional. This was entertaining and informative. Thank you

Lol
First world D2 problems: As I shoot and that accuracy ring grows, my bullets stop going where I put them.
The two right: my jump and crouch
The 1 on left: reload/interact
Left/right stick config:
Sensitivity curve: instant
Curve adjustment: 2/10
Left and right triggers are at 50 for for max input at less trigger pull.
The rest of my cofnig, I usually mess with in game settings with whatever game I’m playing.
Destiny 2: 105 FOV
16 Sensitivity with a .6 ADS sensitivity modifier
Sprint turn scale: .8
That’s my config.
Another thing rarely talked about, controller has worse accuracy compared to MnK, meaning way worse aerial accuracy
Hi Jim! Comp jetzt?
crouch spamming on a macro is not fair, crouch spamming on manual is fair. I just say remove the shit aim assist
I see this often brought up, but crouch spamming is very easily done by binding hold crouch to other buttons. It is not at all indicative of a script and anyone can do it pretty easily and accessibly.

I haven’t played D2 in quite some time, and whenever I ser your „rant-style“ videos, I feel so sorry. The Game is so lovable and I am broken that I had to give up on this game, cheers that some of you keep up the fight to make PvP somewhat enjoyable.
All my love

Oh wow. It's not a pizza box, it's actually a strawberry box. neat.
Now,idiots throw XIM accusations at anyone that outplays them.
I’m a PS5 player. 2.23 trials KD with over 130k kills. Classed as top 0.1% (500) per external websites. I main Titan. I use a stock PS5 controller.
My config for destiny is:
R3 - Hold crouch
- This allows me to throw a crouch in (or spam) without moving my thumb. It also allows me to slide without moving my thumb. It took a lot of getting used too.
O - this is class ability.
L2 - Aim
R2 - Shoot
L1 - Punch
R1 - Grenade
- The top buttons are personal preference.
Square - Revive (i claw ONLY on revive/power)
Triangle - Swap weapon (default)
X - Jump
Sens - 12
ADS - 0.9
Turn - Max, 1.0?

When a game is out that long:
-The audience grows immensely (if it’s successful).
Aren’t you console though 😂 try top 500 gambit where it really is a problem rookie
Thank you for releasing this video. We need more content creators shedding light on this crap. It's ruining gaming.
My boy made a PowerPoint presentation and put it on TH-cam.
Excellent info btw, loved this.
This must all be a lie because I've been told aggressively for years that there is no way to cheat on console and I'm just bad.
Thank you - your videos are always good.
I’m away from the house and don’t remember my settings off-hand but I’ve recently started using a Scuf controller on PS5 and I’ve made a few observations:
3. The only really quality of life things using back paddles has provided me are:
- not having to use a face button to switch weapons thusly eliminating the need to move right thumb off the stick or move two fingers up (I have a habit of playing claw, it comes out more in pve at this point than it does pvp)
- being able to slide-crouch cancel easier the way I do it (run, slide, press in on the left stick - I know simply changing crouch from toggle to hold would make this much more easier but I feel like it would create muscle memory that would conflict with my pve habits at this point and I know I would remember to flip-flop the setting between pve and pvp).
Well done informative video. Great job with this IMHO!
I use an Elite Series 2 controller.
I use all 4 paddles
Top right- X button/Reload
Bottom right-A button/Jump
Top left- Y button/Switch weapons
Bottom left- Right stick click/Coruch
Both my thumbsticks are set to instant
Both my triggers are on 20
I do all this on the Xbox Accessories app
I've been using this configuration for years now.
Dang that is such an impressive breakdown!!
Controller never really felt good in destiny 2. I just got used to it.
Here are my settings:
Dualsense Edge:
Button Assignments - O and R3 are remapped, Left back paddle is X, Right back paddle is Sqaure
Stick Sense/Deadzones - Left stick digital curve with -4 curve adjustment and 0% dz adjustment, Right stick quick curve with -4 curve adjustment and 0% dz adjustment
(I don't know if these setting clash with the default curve and deadzones of Destiny 2 unfornately but they definitely help me feel quicker. The only time you have to take your thumb off the joystick is to quickly switch weapons, but buttons optimized for jumping, crouching, sliding, and interaction with environment. )
Destiny 2 Settings:
Default Movement Controls
Button Layout: Auto Melee is R1, uncharged melee is R3 (to avoid conflict with throwable melees and strand grappling), finisher is down and right on dpad, inspect player is down and left on player, everything else is default
Look Sensitivity - 16
ADS Sens - 1.0
Sprint - Turn Scale - 0.8
Double Press Delay - 1
No Vibration settings for anything (the tingle makes my hand feels wierd)
Not trying to promote my video in your comments or anything but I am posting a controller setting video tomorrow as well, I am posting a controller settings video tomorrow, I am a smaller channel as well. Hope this helps you cammy and great video as always!
Playstation player here to chime in with my settings.
Base PS5 controller.
Default movement and button controls
Look Sens 10, ADS Sens 0.8
Sprint-Turn 0.8
Double Press Delay 1
120Hz Crucible Mode on
FoV 105
Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain off
Other configs are default.
Razer wolverine ultimate is goated
Your vids are always so consistently good man
