This is shady as hell. I would no longer do business with this company.
That auction house is 1,000% the ghost bidder. Once they saw the bidding stop, they retracted their bid. Slimy but not uncommon
disagree.. he explained his policy. both or none. rerun them. you had that option.
@ws6619 wow. So you actually condone this type of behavior? Getting all butthurt because they were caught so they took their ball home. Pathetic.
@@ws6619 yeah they rerun it and do it again
@@ws6619 bullshit, he bid on 2 different cars, if he suspect the slim shady the auction house should check what going on and see (and show) that only the last bid was from the suspect account
@@ws6619
That guy was definitely ready for the questions you threw at him. Makes you wonder.
man was ready to answer any question that he has
And then to say he can not buy one if he does not buy both ?
Makes you wonder if the tow yard doesn't employ someone to jack up auctions
My wife a couple years ago was working for a tow company and that's exactly what the owner would do is send out one of his drivers to run the prices up.
@@NoLyinEvry1sDyin that has to violate some kind of law or regulation of some kind.
It does happen but it gets put to bed unless you get busted. Dude I worked with kicked the beans over on previous employer.
I'm sure it happens, its risky business for the seller's. They can get stuck with the vehicle and seems it would be suspicious if the same auction company ran the same vehicle through 2 or 3 times..
I agree. Seems like it based on that guys demeanor..that's what sux s with some auctions. They always have ghost bidders
That guy so called “Manager” was 100% the ghost bidder. Just by the way he was acting and responding. His voice couldn’t hide the guiltiness.
100% scam, co-part also has phantom bidders, strange how the guy behind the counter knew how much the car was worth..
Guy there running the scam
Yea he was awfully defensive for someone "just doing his job"
Put that company on blast, and file a complaint with whoever you can. To tell you your other order and account would be canceled is wild beyond belief.
@ 0:42 seconds. Bug's Towing. Selling through Peak Auto Auctions.
Bug's towing is ghost bidding their auctions. Ridiculous.
No, he should have just bid what he was comfortable bidding on don’t bid desperate. Know how auctions work and you will be ok. 👍
@imonaroll9502 Clearly, not what happened here. This is how you scam non-tech savy old timers/first-timers. I'd at least start filming or screencapping every bid to protect myself.
@@theguy0075 Tow yards have done this for years, even at live auctions. They will have people up the bids well funded just incase. The car will show up at other dismantlers websites to be auctioned again or parted out. Once a car is salvaged like in this case, you’re lucky to get 1/4 of the blue book value. So this car should have sold for 7k max. The teller was quick to say the BB Value which goes out the door in the salvage world. The 10k reserve was a huge red flag. 🚩
This local? That's 100% a scam. If you cancel one, you cancel both? Two separate auctions whaaaat...
I would have said... oh ok, that's the way you want to play it? And woukd have torn that cashiers check up right there and told him to delete me from every record. Every account completely wiped clean. This is horse shit!
Yeah, it's Bug's Towing out of Colorado Springs.
The guy behind the counter was in on the scam for sure !!!
I agree with you. Once you’re out bid, you are no longer on the hook. No different than if you were out bid and the guy showed up to buy the, if he then backed out, how is it on you to now buy it ?
That’s exactly what happen, but they call the other bid a “fraudulent bidder”. Which in all fairness, they should go after that guy for the $$$$ difference, not the legit guy buying multiple cars.
They should have gave you the option to buy it at the reserve price, or rerun the car.
Another what if, is you may have spend that money on another auction since you were out bid and closed the page. Possibly not had the money to buy the Kia at that moment.
Also, them tying both auctions together saying you had to buy both or neither…. I think I may have said I’m here to pick up the truck now and then come back for the car. The bank doesn’t have the Kia check ready yet. Maybe work a deal as you’re buying multiple cars and a repeat customer ?
Keep in mind, even if you think you still came out on top, the deal was dirty. Take it as a learning experience. Hopefully it all works out.
incorrect - if you bid an amount, you're agreeing to that amount. Auctions throughout history have operated this way. Just be more patient and savvy. Set a limit, walk away when you're past it.
@@ws6619 incorrect. If he lost, he lost. End of story.
@@ws6619
I have lost many auctions on eBay. There’s nothing in the information that says “if the winning bidder backs out or if “fraudulent”, you are liable for the purchase” Same at Mecum, Barrett Jackson, and CoPart. They would approach the next lowest bidder and see if they’re interested, or rerun it.
Which on Barrett Jackson, that has happen and televised. Winning bidder didn’t have the money for the bid AND buyers fee. Backed out of the deal. Next guy bought it for the previous bid.
What’s different, is the #2 highest bidder, that was their ONLY bid. It wasn’t a bidding war. But they said they only did that after speaking to the seller and covering the sellers “sellers fee” so that the seller would still get the full amount of the “winning bid”
That company is trash you need to report them, make all this public, maybe see if others have had same experience and start a lawsuit. It could even be the company ghost bidding..
Make a formal complaint with a governing body, or the BBB. I’m sure this auction company doesn’t want the bad stigma if they rely on these sales to stay in business. Put them on blast
BBB doesn't have any authority its just like yelp.
I bought ."fully inspected f350 "with paperwork went metal on metal brakes next day and wheel bearing took a shit i am a mechanic and didn't look it over drove fine bearing must have been just good enough to not make noise I just went off the paperwork and it was legit they must have payed that company call everything good I threatened bbb and he lost his shit and gave me all the best new components 😂
@@jimothy138 yea and if enough people make complaints then people will stop using them. With all the fake scam nonsense that goes on, I’ve actually started looking for reviews and complaints before I buy.
BBB lol
@@Smokkedandslammed yea the BBB they can’t do shit but track complaints. So make a complaint that others can see.
This is the exact reason I canceled my membership with Copart and then they fought me for months over a few cars that I bought that had “gost bidders”
It’s funny how the only 3 people I was in the Auction with on 2 different lots all Disappeared near the end…
Yea it's also funny you can't see who the bidders are. Also on ebay. What a joke.
As soon as that guy said that to me I would have washed my hands of both of them walked away!
Now you know to wait until there is less than 10 seconds left to place another bid.
As an owner of a stinger in Canada, when the tow yard is referring to the rear diff. There is a known problem with the rear diff top mount breaking from a) being driven past what that mount is capable of or b) it is broken from launching the vehicle to many times as launch control is a standard feature on the car.
If after inspection and the rear diff mount is broken, I would proceed to see how the 8 speed transmission is holding up, similar to early R35 GTR models the transmissions are known to break after excessive launches. At which point the transmission will need to be replaced.
This guy Stingers for sure.
Seems that the auction place was bidding against you to raise the prices and last second when they realized that you were going to not bid anymore they removed all of there bids that was higher then your max bid and gave it to you at that. It makes more money for them and the yard.
If you're going to do the buy and flip thing on a permanent basis then it'd be wise to acquire a dealer's license so you can bypass the shady ish.
And stop buying before selling 😂
correct
Dealer only auctions are some of the most shady places ever, all of these auctions are you just have to be aware.
Lmaoo what a wack ass auction company hahaha sorry you had to deal with bullshit
I've been waiting for a stinger rebuild on youtube. Thank you.🙏
I love my stinger!! You will love yours.
Same
1000% shady ass business...He wouldn't let you purchase one without the other even though they were separate lots? Yeah, they pulled one over on you..
Yeah take both or nothing!? Sounds like BS to me. Man I hate people these days
If the subframe is good that car is a great deal. I don't like how the auction wouldn't let you take just the 1 car. That being said, it wasn't massively over the reserve.
I appreciate you sharing this REAL ASS SHIT.
fuck dem scammers.
100% a scam report them
Excited for back to back stinger content
I think you’ll be on the plus side man. Chalk it up as a learning experience
props to you Trevor for going and speaking up. Morals this industry has
Feels shady, but I get the position they're in with asshole fraudsters. What I don't get is the 'all or nothing, and if nothing fuck you, you won't get to play anymore' part.
Because they are running the scam. They are using that as a scare tactic
Shill bidding is a crime. They also have to give you the correct bid history. I would expose them on principal and force them to own the situation. 100% this was shill bidding and you got fucked. In auctions it goes first money best money. So what if there was a 10k reserve? The next run it would have gone for less money and less money until the seller would have to sell it.
If he would have told me take both or take nothing i would have told him to fucking kick rocks lmaooooooo. Don't put up with people who play with your money like that.
Need to verify ALL BIDES AND BIDERS before hand! Auction yard needs to do better!
That's pretty damn crazy. Having a ghost bidder running up the price then dropping out at the last minute. If that happens, they should redo the sale on the car.
did they canceled all the bids that were after banned person's first bid? Cause in other case how do you know that the banned person wasn't an auction itself?
What im not understanding is how they conveniently found out the bidder was fraudulent 10 seconds before the end? And how did they find it out, like did they do a background check in the last 10 seconds or something. Sounds super fishy and idk if theres a way to have it investigated but smells wrong.
Should look into the caddy atsv/cts vsport too! Vsports are going for a good price right now! Rwd twin turbo 420hp on vsport 464 on ats-v badass cars have a vsport myself
Downpipe tune and flex fuel make over 500whp when tuned with Schmidty tuning
Seems like a Bait and Switch kind of deal. Keep bidding it up and if you don't bid higher the "kick the other bidder out" and it falls back to your bid. Also just a little bit over the Reserve. If you have a problem with it they take the other vehicle you WON as highest POSTED bid. All seems kinda questionable type of business to me. Also could be in the fine print of the bidding agreement I would check on that as well,
It was definitely a bot bidding against you to drive your bid up ,,, thats totally fucked ....
Yeah they sort of have u. Not worth losing your spot at the auction over it if it was 10k min anyway
Ya they got you , they are the ghost bidder and when you didn’t bid higher they cancelled theirs because you were the last highest.
A certain salvage yard in Australia does this too. I've seen many cars being auctioned off to a "floor bidder" then the following day, the same car is back on the website. Looks like they have a reserve and then a desired price for some cars and they won't let it go at reserve.
Do up the stinger I like the look of them and like u said easy power upgrades I think you got a good deal
I think that some auction places are doing what people use to do a lot on Ebay years ago, and create a different account just to bid up the auction. I could see auction house doing this more, because they want to make more money. which will just keep the used car market priced high.
Hmmm the auction guy does make some sense. I agree with you there could be sketchy business going on. Unfortunately, just no way to know without being behind the scenes. Something to watch for though. From their side of things it's like okay well if we let everyone cancel a purchase because they suspect fraud, how many auctions are we going to have to run numerous times? From your side, what if they are running a racket to pump up prices? Hard call, but obviously I just hope you make good money in the end! I think you'll come out okay, but it won't be big bucks. That 650 is the real winner purchase. Vlog was fun.
I would have asked how they would be susceptible to that, but were able to verify the unverified bidders and boot them (and delete the bids from the bid history) all in the last 2 minutes. They must be super-hackers, or that is a feature of the auction site software that they are manipulating.
@@theguy0075 It could be they have software that detects auto bids, bids always placed at the same time, bids being placed by the same account on many auctions at once, bids from a known database of scammer emails, or otherwise. Just some thoughts, I have no idea how the back end works.
@@theguy0075 I left a reply that didn't go through, I'll try to post it again.
Could be they have software to detect auto bids, those always placed at the same time remaining, by the same account on many auctions at once, from a known database of bad accounts, or otherwise. Just some thoughts, I have no idea how the back end works.
I work at a Kia dealer if you need any info from Kdealer lmk. The way you found this car is how about 80% of them are, certain people get them and completely trash them, never even changing the oil.
Damn spending that much money on a car and not changing the oil is crazy. I have one as well
They are guilty 100%. They bid thay car up.
Man F that auction place, for real.
The Stinger is sick though 🙃
I agree with you. You should be OFFERED the car if you had the next highest price on a cancelled bid. Ebay rules make more sense. Congrats on the Stinger though, it's an awesome car.
Auction bid you up and got caught like they always do!!
F that you should’ve bought neither and said I’ll never be coming back
Please make a bigger deal of it and stand up for the little people who have no chance fighting this unfairness
“It’s 11750 plus 1600 which is 13400, which is basically 14000”
Just keep rounding, be at 20k in no time.
You need to talk to a lawyer cause for them to say if you don't get both you get none and if you go that route then we will blacklist you. Sounds like a freaking scam bro definitely hit-up a lawyer.
Yeah. They are definitely using bid bots. The fact that his immediate excuse was a "fraudulent" bidder and that they won't let you take just one vehicle tells me that they are fully aware of what's happening.
thats the kind of market that kia stinger brings, same thign with all dodge charger, challenger hellcat all that bs that gets stolen all the time
Not the stinger tho
Stingers are kinda cool though. Hopefuully this one doesn't take too much to get back up to spec.
So in the tow companies eyes somebody came on there to make one fraudulent final bid ?????? NAH !!
Stingers, i have to admit, look good.
That rear end to me is incredible
Nice derriere?
They run good af as well
Banks/insurance companies are in trouble with all the vacant commercial buildings. Possibly bidding you up is my guess.
Check who owned the tittle when you get it then look at the financials.
Even copart does this in Canada we get random bids from UAE, Africa, Ukraine they just bid up the cars
I work at a salvage auction IAA to be specific and if the bud isn’t high enough for the insurance company they will pull out on the auction orrrr they will add fees on top to make the difference on what the insurance company wanted on it to break even
The fix is in. Yiu have a valid point and they are basically saying take it or leave it. I would take the vehicles bit maybe consider to business with this company again.
When he said you don't get the truck i wouldve just been like okay fine no problem
I bet you come out ahead here. what a potential monster. GL!
complete scam. "well if you dont wanna take that one you cant have the other" ITS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guys trying to say some shit about it being connected but the only connection is you.
Do a series of the car the perfect daily driver + street drag car ❤ you will give us more content plus you will earn more money back to compensate and probably do a merchandise kit too. Great idea right i will support you.
Guy behind the counter knows EXACTLY what happened. Very aggresive, quick with the answers, quick with the processing. Zero empathy still fast talking and trying to get you processed. I have no idea why you would keep giving them your business after a scam like that. I could be wrong but id put money on it that he was the guy bidding you up.
Like and subscribe boys, lets help ol' Trevy
Good condition Stinger will be collectors car in the future specially Tribute edition! Also possibility EV Stinger coming out.
All too common with all auction houses lately, I seen it happen often at my local auctions. As well I had that happen almost to me, bunch of items got bid up to ridiculous prices and then later auction house offered items to me because bidders were scammers. Got them for half the price but some people outbid the scammers and paid the inflated prices. But a heads up you’ll likely have your account banned still after this video, one auction house banned me because they heard I was unhappy about their pick up arrangements 😂, and they made a new rule “intolerable behavior at pick up will result in account ban” after that situation.
Auction houses have a lot more incentive to pump auctions. They need cars to sell for over reserve. They need fresh inventory. If they can’t sell cars then insurance companies and other sellers will tow cars to other auction yards simple as that. A lot more important than the extra $150 in fees is getting all the business by proving to your clients that you can sell cars over reserve.
That core support on the end is broken all the way through
OH YEAH BRO THEY SCAMMED YOU BAD BRO ! WTF YOU BUYING CARS FROM UNCREDITED TOW YARDS ?
the problem is the yard is not named or stated until the vichile is won.........the auction house is responsable for all transactions, period.
@@purrpleunicorn no he knew exactly where the car came from he stared it in the video he buys cars there all the time man did u not watch the video ?
@@purrpleunicorn and maybe they dont state the yard but all the cars are in one place so your telling me its like consignment for wrecked cars ?
Yes it is like a consignment, the auction house is responsible for the validation of all bids, and further more there is to be evaluation done if the winning bidder is drop from the process , cause as you saw he could have been making previous bidder to increase value. But the biggest problem in all os this is the website is more then likely based out of Delaware or California, so any type of consumer protection can't be applied.sorry if I caused any misunderstanding @shannacollins4741
Another way to fight this potential issue makes me thing of a common phrase “the wheel gets the grease”
Maybe send them a couple Hi-vis hoodies with with minor Motion Auto graphics on it so they’re more likely to wear them. Or even call and tell them you’re sending them lunch on Friday.
That just happen to me too only difference was I wasn't buying a car. Bid more than a wanted to, got outbid so I stopped bidding on the item then timer on item goes to zero listing disappears like normal then with in a second it popped back up bid rewinds to my bid turns green to show im winning item and timer/clock on item is back to 2 minutes i ended up winning the item. It didn't feel right seemed like I was being shill bid by the auction house
Yo I'm just here thinking dam time Fly I was in grade 6 when you picked up the supra I remember come home from school checking for new episodes on the supra build
Yeah that company/dude is sketchy af. He then manipulated you into buying the kia by giving you an ultimatum of losing your account and the other vehicle you won.
As far as bidding on your own inventory, it is illegal and is called bid shilling. This has actually happened to me at a local tow company auction. They had one of their employees, while working the auction, bidding on the cars during the auction. She even changed starting bids on certain cars when the bidding for the vehicles had already started the day before online.
this isn't shady this is an auction. Have some self control you admitted yourself you shouldn't have submitted the 11k bid. Also you have knowledge about the auction fees if you have purchased from them before. Only thing cool about this video is the stinger.
What yard is this? Wyatts?
was the bidder who bid it 12,700 the same person you were bidding against the whole way?
Show the whole build!!! U need to push out more content asap!!!!!
It happens all the time that’s why I only do live auctions at least there I can figure out who they have bidding stuff up.
You got Bent over on this deal. Cool stuff there or not, you got taken advantage of.
Why did you buy any of the cars in the first place screw that 2300$ truck dude it aint worth that much and theres always other places to buy cars Trevor !
Peak auto auction I use them and I think they have secret bidders as well because there motorcycles go up in price
How do auctions in the U.S allow pulling out? In Norway it's all legally binding, so if you bid you have to pay that amount
Maybe do some further research on that company by watching 20 auctions right till the end and see how many times the last bid is pulled?
i probably wouldn't want to work with that auction again dealt with a couple with friends buying and flipping cars and none acted like that.
That's shady as hell definitely feel like someone who stood to make money was bidding
Hey Trevor do you have a premium account at CoPart or just the free account?
You absolutely should have been given the option definitely very suspicious scammy. That really sucks
Enjoying this flip content, please film repairs and if you sell it.
That company TOATALLY AND COMPLETELY scammed you my guy if i were you i would get a Lawyer A.S.A.P.
Sounds like that Company has that problem regularly. I think they should void all previous fraudulent offers and bring your bid down as needed. The other issue is with high interest rates, less people are buying cars in general, so they might be overstocked and undermoney-ed.
Make a video of fixing it
They are correct that you were willing to pay that. But I completely understand your concerns.
So why you buy the cars?
ya thats a robot bidder for ya...
What was the place called? File a report
Name of the tow yard?
I got scammed on ebay buying a car, bidding was 2k below my highest bid and someone bid 50 bucks below my highest bid with an account with multiple bid retractions. I did end up giving the car back as it had a leaking heater core
