Man I love hood mirrors! Got used to them school bus driving in the Class-B days. I like them when I don’t have a lot of room in front of me, I can see what my hood is going towards and the side of cab and then I know what adjustments to make. I plan on adding them on my ‘98.
My 17 Cascadia is an ex Wally World with grease fittings on the the driveshaft. Not a bad old truck. DD15 with a 10 speed direct manual and 2.47 rears with my 90 day average being 8.9 mpg running dry van freight between New York and the Midwest and back grossing 65K to 77K. I’m like yourself would love to hold on to everything but I found when I was doing that I was only increasing the population of mice creating new habitats for them. Since these are my sworn enemies I instituted a scorched earth policy and so far we have been quite successfully.
Nice on the mpg! I think I like the grease fitting a lot better. Good on you man, making that $$. All these people on the tube bitching and complaining. And you’re doing it!
@@DrivingByBraille the 65K to 77K is my gross weight . Unfortunately living in the North East if that was my gross income I would be on food stamps. Rates are climbing slightly but fuel is still my biggest expense and I now have it steady at $0.36 cents per mile . I appreciate you making these videos showing what it’s like running a business without all the engineered drama like on some other channels.
I had a extreme picture this about removing the factory installed mirror's. Could removing the mirrors affect accident defense. Dealing with insurance companies, attorneys, police accident investigation, jury . I know it's extreme over thinking I don't drive a commercial vehicle. I'm thinking I should just delete my comment because you know what your dealing in the owner operator business.
No, the hood mirrors or west coast mirrors are not DOT. They are an added feature. You can opt to have them or not. A lot of bigger companies put them on because some Bean counter figures if there is 1 less accident because of them, it’s worth the extra cost.

I personally like the hood mirrors I love them on my Cascadia they have saved me from an incident or two
I would leave the mirrors just in case you sell it. The new owner may LOVE THEM.

I am supporting the stock, leave it and drive it approach.
Haha but removing the mirrors won’t break the engine 😊
I can definitely see your advantage with the Cummins and Jpro. You did good 👍
You do you, take them off.
