They can also pay greater. The basics you need in tech Linux, Cloud (pick any one), Container Security, Automation, Kubernetes, Agile, and Gitops. Focus on be a T-Shape. Look that up if you not sure. It basically mean be a generalist or multifacted and then specialize in one skill. For every skill you add buy an asset. Remember asset come in different forms so do your research. If you get a sign on bonus buy an asset. Make money in tech and buy assets. You can become a consultant, partner, or do government contracting
@@tam6011 security engineer is my end goal. Currently working help desk at the moment. My co-worker who is an engineer strongly advised me to learn Linux, so I study that outside of work and during lunch. Not much but it's a start
codecademy, Coursera and freecodecamp are all great resources to learn software engineering, data science, cloud computing etc I also want to add you don’t need to have tech skills to get into the industry. Project managers, sales, marketing, operations etc are all still needed
Market is hot right now, switch from medical field to tech within a year and it's doable, you just need a proper team and know which route to take, because not all tech are paid the same, and not all tech are hot in the market.

I went from $12 an hour to 100k in 3 years flat in IT. You can self study and take certification exams instead of college (college just teaches you the same stuff in the certs). Do note that cybersecurity jobs are NOT entry level and you usually need 3-5 years of general IT experience to get that entry level role. Many subsectors of IT will get you to 100k such as network engineering, database administrator etc. Cloud is def a big one these days with high salaries.
What would you say to someone with 17 year experience in retail looking to switch careers? I know basic stuff about computers. What would you recommend as far as route I should take if I want to make 6 figures in a few years? Ty ser
@@aparadaeessa You tend to start with a help desk job. Comptiaa A+ certification will get your foot in the door HOWEVER its only good for getting an entry role. I never did that cert I went right for Microsoft and Cisco certs but the A+ info you SHOULD know. I got into IT at 30 FYI Best advise I can give anyone is build a home lab and do certs.

@@thetruth5635 that's right, and I'm heading in that direction too, basically I'm looking at cloud technology hard to pick between Cloud Engineer vs Cloud Architect. But both of them have a potential to make 250K-300K specially expert senior Cloud Architect they can make up to 300k-500K and they don't even touch the technology.
The truth is with this recent economy Everyone needs more than there salary to be financially stable. The the best thing to do with your money is to lnvest it rightly because money left for saving always end up used with no returns..
