  • @ranger275th9
    @ranger275th9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hiker is amazing, picked up my extreme offroad last year. I couldn't believe how customer oriented they are. The day I picked mine up it was raining outside, and yet the lady was in there cleaning up the inside and out. Never had a better experience with any company! I have a 2 door JK and this thing matches up perfectly, we have taken this thing nearly everywhere. I have 4.56 gears because my Jeep has 35's, and it tows like nobody's business. My only complaint, if I were to have one which really isn't a huge deal. Would be first to be able to add 35" tires somehow. As well as the underfloor storage and water tank, the aluminum covers aren't sloped front to rear. Which means if you're offroad, and if you by chance drag the bottom of your trailer it's a blunt edge that could possibly get caught up on rocks or logs and cause serious damage. But it does sit high enough we haven't run into that issue, and also I will eventually have a skid plate fabricated to protect those two areas. Cheers to Hiker and you for getting the word out there about these amazing trailers!

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn’t agree more, I think a Hiker would look amazing behind my JKU. The EOR is an absolute beast, with a skid plate it could go anywhere. Thanks for tuning in, I hope youll subscribe and check out the video on the EOR coming soon.

    So, let's address the elephant in the room. "Hiker Trailers have jumped to my #1 pick for high quality, affordable teardrops, tiny camper, micro campers!!" Does this mean the era of the Bushwhacker is over??? Will we be seeing a new model of teardrop in your videos in the future? Is there a new kid in town? Inquiring minds.... EDIT - Since I'm sure Robbie from Hiker will be monitoring the comments, let me suggest a Highway Plus model, already complete with the upgrades that get to the average $11K cost. Scrolling through each and every "build your own" option is, frankly, cumbersome. Having a pre-set Highway Plus model to avoid that makes more sense. Thank you.

      @DIYOutdoorLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha… you’re the best. I’m not sure what the future holds, I wonder if Lucía would approve of TWO tiny campers!! Two small ones is like one big one right?

    Two questions for anyone who has a hiker:
    1) how tall is it WITH roof racks and awnings (can’t seem to find that info)
    2) what are your best options for restrooms when out camping?

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m sure someone chime in with the exact measurements you’re looking for.
      As for 2). - It really comes down to preference.
      Some stay at campgrounds and prefer the public facilities over having to deal with an onboard bathroom.
      Others go to more remote areas that have outhouses, bathhouses, or even handle it the same way you do while backpacking.
      While on the road, there are rest stops and truckstops with showers. Planet fitness is only $10 a month and has amazing facilities, located almost everywhere. This is a great option for showering.

    • @toddmcintosh2685
      @toddmcintosh2685 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYOutdoorLifeAh, I should have been more specific! My curiosity is for overall off-grid preferences amongst the teardrop crowd for portable bathrooms.
      This may or not include areas with people, as some camping allows for seclusion and privacy, but for example spending several days on the beach distant from any facilities but where people are consistently passing by.
      I assume you gain some privacy from setting up the shower curtain or enclosed tent, but I don’t want to leave my spot, dig a hole, or even make it s habit to s- in the woods if camping. I assume people are using portable composting toilets, but I’m ignorant of all the options people may be using!

    • @twloughlin
      @twloughlin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@toddmcintosh2685 There are a lot of options, but most of them come down to some combination of a 5-gallon container, plastic bags, kitty litter, and a seat (snap-on or other), combined with a cheap showering tent like a Wolfwise. Use two or three times, wrap it up, throw it in the trash or dumpster. Composting toilets are far too expensive and heavy for teardrop campers to lug around.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  ปีที่แล้ว
