I wish she was still like this, she cut her hair and started singing more pop sounding songs IMHO. She's absolutely perfect here. that voice is coming from her heart.

Those pointing at the difference in her old stuff compared to the new saying you wish she was still like this. Why? Listen to it. To me it seems she’s done some healing and growing since then. Still healing and growing. As we should all strive to do. Why would you want her to remain in such a low place? Just because you choose to remain static and complacent doesn’t mean she should. She doesn’t owe you that. It’s her music. She still puts her heart and soul into her music. The fact that she isn’t in such a dark place now doesn’t degrade the quality of her music.

Second favorite song of hers following head head heart, but this is my all time favorite performance of hers.

Wow what a surprise. I really like this. She is not afraid to be real. She reminds me of me, just a bit. I love her intensity. I would think this would be in demand more than the pretty flowery stuff, which is boring in my opinion. I think she was worthy of first place also.

Miss that cello. Miss the space for Meg’s voice to take over the song. The new stuff is pop structure with no silence to contrast her vocals. Maybe the old stuff never sold but damn it had soul. It just feels like a missed opportunity like everytime miley does a pop song instead of a country/rock or metal song.

I was thinking the same thing, in terms of the raw emotion getting poured into musically simple songs (that's not a negative--they don't to be complex to be amazing). But in terms of the lyrics, she makes think of the Toadies, except that her words seem far more personal.

Benjamin, she is definitely not a very technical singer. I'm not even sure she knows how to sing from her diaphragm. But (IMHO) she uses what she does have so effectively that absolutely love it, technically skilled or not.
Who decided what's the right way to sing is anyways? For me, it's about the passion and emotion that's put into it. People are always trying to "perfect" everything to what their idea of perfection is, but it's about loving what you're doing. Art is just supposed to be about self-expression.
There is absolutely no "right" way to sing. Only different ways. mick jagger, bob dylan and neil young proved that way back.
