It's so true. I left Salt Lake and fled to Nevada because of the pandemic and for two years I planned how I would go back buy a ring and ask her to marry me. Just a few months ago she got married. I feel like an idiot. I hurt. I just try to accept but I see her face everywhere. Now I'm a fucking monster.

Since writing my comment, I've gotten the chance to move on into a far more positive and healthy relationship than the girl I wrote about could've given me. But unfortunately (for her and society) there are many other forces at work behind the scenes of Fame/Popularity and she didn't have appropriate representation or individuals in her Orbit who helped her blow up as she should've.
Success in any creative industry is oftentimes a lottery at best regardless of how genuinely talented a soul is.
But it seems she REALLY REALLY got screwed over by various players in the Agency/Public Relations/Promotions arena and the tides of taste/trends also drastically shifted at the wrong time for her.
Add that to some personal issues (that I will not go into out of respect) and you have the perfect recipe for disaster.
Her cover of running up the hill gets played on 102.1 the edge!

The cello is so unexpected - it adds am emotional depth that wouldn't be present without the cello. Wow!
She's cited Nirvana as one of her influences and the cello through the first 3/4 of the song does sound reminiscent to their song "Dumb" so I wonder if that was an inspiration here?

As someone whos experienced it, my belief is the song is about individuals with overflowing passion and affection and deep connective feelings vs cold, callous, empty, unempathetic people. It literally breaks you apart if you feel you do all the loving for both parties because you cant see or feel love coming across. You essentially feel like the weirdo outcast that loves "too much". You become the love obsessed "monster" in the process of just wanting something beatiful like the serenity and grace that comes from feeling loved.

I heard a ton of music in the 90's, but I have never heard of Patty Rothberg. She must not have been very good or she would've gotten a lot more recognition and attention like so many others did then and in the 80's. You have to stand out or you won't get anywhere in the music business. She's not have done enough to get her new out there to the masses.
It’s because she’s in the rock genre! A lot of kids these days listen to more pop and rap. I don’t think they even know what rock music is anymore. Rock isn’t like it was back then. If she had come out in the early 2000s she would be a super star!!!! She is extremely talented but she prefers rock and the label and those she’s worked with respect her input and the way she wants her music to sound. But she’s in a dead genre.
