    "You wanna be a real hero, here's what you do: You get back down there and put the pieces together. You find a way to forgive yourself for what happened to your wife. You make things right with your daughter. And you carry on serving your country. That'll take some real guts".
    Brilliant, brilliant words from George Mason in his dying, final moments. And how Jack reflects on these wise words is just priceless. 24 is just the best show EVER.

      Serving his country ruined his life beyond repair. The high-up suits used him and threw him away. That’s why I always DESPISED Heller. What a cold hearted POS.

      I think George was a better character than Ryan Chapelle. More of a complex character, funny, a bit arrogant and they even showed a vulnerable side of him. Multi layered. That line was great lol.

      @@bradleycharlesworth8745I much preferred George over Ryan. The latter was a pain in the ass. It was too late to make him sympathetic when Bauer had to kill him in s3.

    George Mason: 24's greatest hero.

    • @Chris155au
      @Chris155au  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, I wouldn't say that. He did originally run away to escape the nuke threat, leaving behind his responsibilities as Director of the agency charged with stopping it! He was dying anyway, there really was no other option but for him to spare the life of a TRUE hero, that being Jack Bauer! No, 24 had greater heroes than Mason.

    Mason might not've been the most idealistic of all CTU directors, the kind that "wants results but don't wanna get their hands dirty", but he was willing to give what was left of his own life to allow Jack to continue doing his job while making things right with himself and his dear ones, so he inspires great respect.

    Greatest episode of entire 24 series.
    Dialogues, weight of the plot at the moment, weight of the chatacters fate under life/death situation + global threat + ending of important character + subtiles quotes around life + SOUNDTRACK.
    2x15 still greatest. Also funny thing, but every episodes between 10-11pm mark were all absolute bangers.
    First season with tension building for the end, last dialogue between Jack/Teri + Palmer & Jack blow off scene where Drazen were convinced during short amount of time finally getting the result of all their schemes done + soundtrack + one of most shocking turn reveal of all-time as Nina being the MOLE.
    Season 3, Jack + Nina lone confrontation + Hector/Ramon final culimination of rivalry for leadership coming to ineluctable fate.
    Season 4: the episode on the rush where Jack and CTU finally connect next target..for the first time, US president itself on AirForce One is threatened. And the final deliver: Jack cannot stop Anderson to attacking Air Force One. Jack is shellshocked.
    Don't remember for others seasons but for 4 first seasons, 10-11pm seems to be must watch.
    The golden hour where writters found their best feather.

    I like the order George goes in when he tells Jack what he has to do. First, Jack has to forgive himself. He'll never have a good life if he can't accept what happened to Teri. Second is Kim, who while is the most important thing to Jack, they'll never have a good relationship if Jack doesn't forgive himself first. And only third comes his country, which while important, is still behind his daughter.

    24 writers have the ingenuity of making the deaths of what could be considered 'annoyingly bureaucratic' characters be very touching. Mason, Chapelle, McGill to name a few. Even Erin, though she didn't die, you gotta feel when but specially how she left.
