Castles are amazing not least because they have survived for so long. This is Plympton Castle in Devon, near Plymouth. If you are in the area it is well worth visiting especially for its history

It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade II* listed
The castle was built around 1100 but there was probably a settlement on this site before the Norman Conquest
Looking at a list of monarchs since the Norman Conquest to give a perspective on age - that puts its construction probably in the reign of King Henry I, William the Conqueror's 4th son
