  • How does a bowtie connect a person to their purpose? We've seen him take the CliftonStrengths test, now WVU President Gordon Gee talks about discovering his life's mission, his purpose, and his drive to make West Virginia University the best it can be.
Special thanks to the WV & Regional History Center.

This video was sent to my school email; its subject read "Finding Strength in Change." We at the WVU Keyser campus are going through some big changes including the loss and demotion of several staff members. Many of the professors I have spoken to are worried that their jobs are vulnerable as well. Some have even gone as far as telling students to "be nice" this semester when filling out Student Evaluations of Instruction. I sometimes worry about the future of Potomac State as a whole. I am grateful for the opportunity to receive my education there now, as I was not in a strong enough place financially to attend WVU Morgantown. I only hope that others will have the same opportunity in the future.

Dr. Gee is not only the best University President that ever existed, but he is a wonderful father and one of the kindest men you could ever meet. To know him is to love him, and my family has been honored to know him for over 35 years. Congratulations Dr. Gee!!!

Great video! It's inspiring to see President Gee share his journey and insights on success with us. Knowing when to pivot and when to stay the course is key to achieving one's goals. I also appreciate the emphasis on finding one's purpose by focusing inward and how it can have a positive impact on others, as President Gee's example shows. Thank you for sharing this!

I've sat down to interview Gee several times. It's always such a blast. What's crazy is me and my fiancee have been alums for years, and he still remembers who we are and what we studied. Even remembers where we came from before WVU. We don't deserve this man!
