Matt: Yeah I wanted my guitar I play live to be the same one kids go out and by that way you get me exact everything Corey: Yeah I use a 3k Custom shop deal with it kiddies
It's weird the way he actually pronounces his name, there's is a town in UK called Beaulieu which we pronounce as Bewlee and he pronounces his name 'Bolo'.
Love this band. Everyone complaining about the Kempers and them being "lazy" have no idea what they're talking about. If you've seen them live you know that they're faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from lazy, and they've worked their asses off to get to where they are now. The Kempers just make things easier, and times are changing, it's not always going to be the same things for every band.
The Kemper is an awesome piece of gear. Check out Ola Englund, he did very good reviews with it. I totally understand that they only use it on stage. Why carrying all the amps, pedals etc. if you need the same sound every night on tour ? It's easy and keep you focused on playing. I totally dig it.
I wish Jackson could make a more affordable King V with a string thru bridge and passive pickups. Hang on a minute...... They just did. Thanks jackson. Now i just have to wait until i'm not broke and i'll be able to buy it.
the kemper sounds great regardless of what people say. tubes obviously still sound great but it's easier to tour with the kemper. people here seem to forget that you can profile your tube amp into the kemper so I guarantee you can't tell a difference
Wow, lot of "competent" whiners here. Lazy musicians, lame, no amps.... These guys tour a lot OK? They play lots of festivals both in USA and overseas. They also happen to not be Metallica or U2 and can't afford to move truckloads of amps, cabinets, etc. In the same time these guys want to deliver the best sound to the audience. So they opted for a digital modeling amp equimpent. And here we go idiots label them being lazy! Do using Kemper and not having 5 square meters of pedals makes them play less precise or slower??? Gear doesn't play the music! Humans do. And by all standards Corey, Matt and Paolo know their craft.
+Николай Николов Actually in the Testament rig rundown, Eric Peterson mentioned that Metallica is using Kempers too. I don't know if it's true or not, but he got the info from Kemper.
tonellojohn Metallica using Axe Fx II XL+ since the end of 2013 (since Antarctica gig, to be precise). This information comes from 'tallica's guitar tech's posts on Fractal Audio forum and from observing racks with Axes on live gigs (Howard Stern show as a clearest example).
Fractal and Kemper have basically taken over the live scene because the tones are almost totally indistinguishable from tube amps especially after all the effects (gain, compression, modulation etc) and are much more reliable. The only people who complain about this are traditionalists with a pro luddite mentality or people who know nothing about amplifiers but heard some artist/youtuber/read a reddit comment and took it to heart.
props for matt, he really care about his fans edit: props for all of them. they try to make the signature as affordable as possible and sound as close as possible
Going to see these guys in Houston in November 2022 and I’m so curious to see how they sounds live. I’ve seen them two times years ago pre Kemper and Fractle
Let me tell yall young whippersnappers something. What Matt says about his Epiphone Les Paul sig model being the same one we can buy is really cool. A lot of artists are doing that these days too with their sigs. In the old days all the metal guys that were sponsored were sent custom shop models that we would have to pay thousands for. Now theyve brought up the quality and are charging affordable prices.
Joe Acey True. But hey ESP/LTD EC1000 has :) With that heel joint 24 frets would be a nice touch. Kind of like Gibson with the SG. Insted of 24 frets a piece of plastic instead what the hell!
Aaron Mifsud 24 frets on a Gibson scale make the upper frets very cramped. Won't work so well for guys with giant fingers like me. I understand that many people would like it though.
Linh Nguyen its not to bad the LTD EC1000s are built on the 24.75 scale also. I played a BC rich ironbird years ago not sure of its scale length but that was a squeeze on the upper frets
Aaron Mifsud I know, I had both the LTD and the Epiphone Prophecy EX (24 frets, 81/85, no heel, very similar to Matt's guitar) at different points in time. They were both insanely good for riffs and rhythm but once I start moving down the fretboard it didn't feel right. So I settled with an 24 fret Fender scale LTD superstrat and a 22 fret Gibson scale Edwards (Japanese version of LTD Deluxe).
Not trying to be a dick, but the EMG 707 isn't modeled after the 85... In fact, the 85-7 exists and is way different from the 707 IMO (as far as EMGs go haha). I love both for different stuff, though; 707 is a really transparent, clear pickup that works great for both bridge and neck positions and the 85 has a smoother, more organic tone.
Like the Axe Fx rig Rundowns it becomes more of an informercial with the simplification of gear. Cool guitars tho. And I appreciate a band trying to get a better live sound.
man i would kill for kemper profiler amps. damb right i'm lazy lol. why in the hell would i want to travel with a metric fuckton of amps and cabs that could easily be damaged and have the tones get screwed up by the knobs getting twisted when i can just have a single amp that keeps my tone completely consistent? it seems like common sense. what's with all these elitists bitching about the lack of amps and cabs?
Very cool Corey puts a blank plate in with his sig Jackson if you dont want the Trivium logo oo nthe guitar. I wouldnt and Im probably making this my next guitar purchase. For the money its the best deal Ive found for a quality 7 string that comes with a Floyd but also SD Blackouts. No upgrading needed for $900
Matt didd a reference about Ace Frehleys playing and Corey is rocking an Iced Earth jacket.YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESS These are some dudes that know their history
Look im not the biggest fan of digital amps either but if you are going to stop listening to a band because of the gear they use, you have EVERYTHING mixed up. Its not about the gear they use, its about the music they make. Its easy to forget that gear is supposed to help you express yourself through music. Trivium makes good music and the fact that they use kempers should not make you so upset that you just stop listening to them.
Laughing at all the elitists/people-who-don't-know-what-they're-talking-about freaking out over "no real amps". I've owned many tube amp heads, hybrid amp heads, combos, used to run through an Orange 2x12. Sold them in favour of an Axe FX II and I have never for one second looked back. Complaining about "no real amps" just isn't even an argument and I suggest leaving aside your bias, doing some ear tests between a good modeler and a real amp, and then lugging your full stack around trying to tell everyone how superior your sound is. Trivium (post-Ascendancy) still sucks though.
Nice ! but just a little tip for the host : dont stand with your arms crossed, it comes across as you being defensive or as a guard against judgement/other peoples energy so to speak. Always have your chest, stomach and crotch open unless there is a genuin reason to SHOW that you are not digging whats being put forward by the other person. I was unaware of it myself until i read it one day and i just made it a part of my life and make sure to NEVER cross my arms or close off my body no matter how nervous i feel because its not natural and gives the wrong vibe without it beijng intentional. Great video btw!
I listen to Sirius XM all day and they play these guys quite a bit. They have moments of real greatness, but sadly that's usually when there's no singing. I cannot fathom a band that does not use real electric guitar amps and paper pushing air. That is just so weird. I don't understand how you can give an emotional performance without that feeling of the sound waves hitting your body.
Bruh I've seen trivium live when they were using 6505+'s, axe-fx's, and kempers. You do realize that no band (except for super small venues) actually projects sound through speaker cabs, right? Sure they're mic'd, but they're coming out of speakers to the crowd nevertheless; including with using kempers. Only with DI, they're a lot cleaner.
Their first 3 albums were mainly Drop D, Shogun was standard on a 7 string, In Waves and Vengeance are Drop C# and Silence is mainly Bb Standard, with some Drop Ab songs.
I was thinking the same. I have a kemper and as good as it sounds it just not the real deal.If anything id take a kemper on the road strickly as a back up. And how are you gonna play metal and not have a wall of cabs on stage!
anybody know what they are using as a speaker? i know it's a kemper system but I don't think they ever said what they're actually using to project the sound
No speaker cabinets. They use in ear headphones to hear their own individual mixes and the crowd hears a mix that is put together by the sound person in the booth. Everything is direct in from the Kempers.

David Allen Gibson quality is degrading fast. They are no longer the greats they once were- and this is coming from a guy whose favorite guitar is a Gibson LP from 2017
Because you don't "feel" the music you play the same way when you're using an amp sim than when you're using a real amp. When you play on a real amp you have the vibration and all that stuff. Play on a real amp on stage and you'll see what I'm talking about ^^ And personaly I think that a real tube amp sound better than any kemper preset. But It's a personal opinion. Some people prefer kemper (like trivium apparently). If we all would have the same opinion it would be boring.
RmDIr Sudo Su Absolute bollocks. I feel my music just fine and i go directly in the PA via my preamp and i use in-ear monitors, there's no sound on stage apart from the drums. Besides, if you A/B test a physical tube amp through a cab and a Kemper with that profile through a cab, you won't be able to tell the difference. Also, there's the thing with logistics. Loading two or three Kempers in a rack with wireless units for both instrument and IEM is a hell of a lot cheaper to tour with than a full amp and cab setup. That i can tell you for a fact.
BeardedDanishViking As I said it's personal ;) I've my setup with my full tube amp and I'll never trade any of my amp against a Kemper. I tried them and don't like it. In studio you can mix them to make them sound close to what a real amp sound like. But when you're using a tube amp since more than 10years and that you're use to it.. I also do a lot of jazz and sorry but kemper sound like shit for blues and jazz. As I said I tried them, but I still prefer any of my peavey, vox or marshall amp. And on stage I prefer to have the sound of my amp. I love to sense the vibration that my 4x12 made while I'm playing, be able to larsen a bit my harmonics if I wanted to, .. But As I said it's some personal things. I've a main jazz formation. I've worked with tube amp for the past 10years, maybe more. I'm so used to it that yes I can tell the difference between a kemper and a tube amp.. It's close but a kemper doesn't react as a real tube amp do ;).
Nothing beats a tube amp. But, the Kemper can be any tube amp mic'd up. The best tube amp in the world mic'd up will sound and feel like a tube amp mic'd up. The best set up in the world would be to put multiple tube amps around the whole auditorium.
These comments are so trivial. I don't like digital amps, so for that reason I no longer listen to this band. If someone finds that offensive, then they can be offended. In the same way that if Trivium wish to use amp modelling, they can do it.
I used to really like these guys. My like for them has been waning very slowly. Now that I know they're just lazy ass musicians, it's totally gone. Too bad really.
Corey didn't even wanna correct that guy. He's probably heard his last name butchered so many times that he doesn't give a damn anymore lol
Simple way to remember- "Bowler" rhymes with "growler" XD
I pronounce it Bowl-you
Matt: Yeah I wanted my guitar I play live to be the same one kids go out and by that way you get me exact everything
Corey: Yeah I use a 3k Custom shop deal with it kiddies
Literally opposites
Lmao
Jacksons don't come cheap. I do believe they have a pro series Corey model that's maybe 12-1300
@@austintyler8567 nope, the custom shop model its 2300 like the misha mansoor ht7
@@austintyler8567 There's also an x series too.

"Yeah, whatever dude!"
"Corey.. Beauvierre? Did I say that right?"

he totally butchered the pronunciation lmao
It’s not an easy name to pronounce. Kind of like Coulier.
It's weird the way he actually pronounces his name, there's is a town in UK called Beaulieu which we pronounce as Bewlee and he pronounces his name 'Bolo'.
Beaulieu in English is pronounced "Bee-Yoo-Lee". And then say it quicker :P
Well, it's French and French people are difficult. haha
Happy to hear Corey is gonna be releasing a under $1000 guitar. I love his guitar but i don't have 2 grand to throw around
love how genuine all the dudes in trivium are!

I dont listen to this band . but i like the simplicity.. times change .never heard of a kemper before!!
Kempers are modeling/profiling digital amplifiers. For lazy musicians only.
JakeTheRipper 73 sorry people don't want to lug around giant cabs and multiple heads that could break ten times as easy.

Never knew about matt white stripes. Now i knew! Cool and creative!
wow this guy's getting better with his interviews
The Fight yep, takes his meds now gave up the yayo before interviews, haha
wait..he got a LP Custom when he was 12 Years old?! wtf?!
probably got it used. i know kirk hammett got a 78 gibson v when he was about 17
Henry
o.k. Kirk was born in 1962 so he was 17 in 79...so anyway he got a "brandnew" Guitar..that day..but an LP Custom at 12 is crazy
His dad bought it for him. There's an interview with Matt where he talks about it.
I got a new mom.

As I said it's personal ;) I've my setup with my full tube amp and I'll never trade any of my amp against a Kemper.
The most antiseptic band in the world. This was NOT the guitar porn I was looking for :(
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...............
this would be a great rig rundown if it wasn't for the interviewer. i can't stand this guy
Same
Guitar rundown. zzzz
These comments are so trivial. I don't like digital amps, so for that reason I no longer listen to this band. If someone finds that offensive, then they can be offended. In the same way that if Trivium wish to use amp modelling, they can do it.
What I don't get is how they made a 30 minute video about a band who play through computers...
Well the video is 17 minutes so lol
CF Guy The sound is legit and un-tinkered with. Who cares how it's amplified to the crowd?
but the tone is beautiful
SicSemperEvelloMortemTyrannis TyrannyEnder Someone hasn’t seen them play live recently
this is so boring. "lets sound exactly like the album and give zero variety."
How is it boring to give the people exactly the sound they are coming to the show for?
It''s so weird that all they hear on stage is the drums and their bare voices...So f*cking weird
I used to really like these guys. My like for them has been waning very slowly. Now that I know they're just lazy ass musicians, it's totally gone. Too bad really.
