Every time I see the words "French Bulldog" I smile. My frenchie turned 12 in July and it's been 12 years and counting of pure joy. I'd evict a person for snoring but I can't sleep unless I'm hearing the snore of my Sobe.
We have had two Frenches along the line " Timber .and Buddy " both great little dogs with little or no problems at all. Yes we were lucky, and both dogs were a joy for many years. Our last one ' Buddy" never had ANY issues at all ,never was sick, never has any broken bones ,never bit any one ,loved everyone he met. No barking, only, to let us know someone was at the door, never tore up anything. I have a collection of Bonsai trees ,and Buddy never bothered any of them. Yes we were very lucky up to the very end when Buddy started to have seizures ,he let us know it was time for him to go ,so we had him put to sleep! Hardest thing I ever had to do ! Still miss the little guy!!!!!!!
A few years ago I got arthritis so I was home alone a lot, my dad decided to get me a frenchie puppy to keep me company, and she became and still is my little buddy.
I'm handicapped, and as my mobility diminished in my early 50s I decided my next dog would be a frenchie. 5 years later I couldn't be happier. It's not only very affectionate, mine is a vermin chaser (almost cat like!) and some of a guard dog. I had some great dogs in my life, collie, dobermann, airedale terrier. Each had a place in my heart at a certain stage of my life. Now it's time for the more sedate, loving frenchie. Great vid!
I am not a small dog person at all lol but I recently got a frenchie who is 8 months now and I am in love with the breed! We love her so much. So calm and laid back when she needs to be but active and playful at the same time
Love and miss my frenchie so much :) He lived to be 13 and looked just like a loaf of bread! One of the best breeds of dogs, he hated being in a different room than me and absolutely LOVED popcorn. Heck, he loved all food (like any frenchie!). He was my soulmate :) Best dog ever.
Jeremy H. I’ve got a 3 year old Fawn w/ mask. Can’t imagine it any other way. Everyday he amazes me with personality and attitude. We feed him a raw meat diet with occasional fruit slices and some vegetable. Snacks are always grain free and we walk him 3 times a day so he has like no body fat. He’s like a small horse.
I had 12 English Bulldogs for over 40 years, and got a pair of brindle frenchies about a year ago. My son just adopted a Fluffy blue w/tan points ....... he is a wonderful pet with an amazing conformation. Can't imagine having anything but Frenchies in the future.
Sadly the snore is because they cant breathe. Many need elongated palette surgery and their nares widened. Love this breed. Praying the breed improves and their breathing gets easier.
It's so incredibly cruel that breeders would breed this kind of chronic condition into brachycephalic breeds. I would stay away from the breed until it improves.

Thank you AKC! hopefully this will encourage people to research their AKC registered breeders and keep this amazing breed Fabulous and kept to its standards for many years to come!

I've always had Labs and recently got a fawn Frenchie pup, Ben. Can't say enough about this breed as a companion dog. Such adorable clowns with the funniest barks and noises. Of course, love my Labs, too!!!!
i have a french bulldog and his name is Charcoal hes really fun to play with and he likes sleeping alot... i usually take him on a walk and the only thing i hate about the French bulldog are the FARTS bc it smells so bad xD but i love it!
Alec Grinage you’d love them. My boyfriends frenchie isn’t a typical small dog. They don’t have the yappy trait that many small dogs have. They’re pretty quiet and are relaxed.
Everyone understands the need for good breeding that aims to eliminate as many genetic issues as possible however, the AKC is just as stubborn as it was back in the late 1890s on many things. With Frenchies, the hard stance on few colors is a modern day example of AKC hard-headedness.... like its stance was on bat vs rose ears 100+ years ago. High time for a dog owner's revolt again to get the AKC to acknowledge coat & eye colors that adorn a metric ton of healthy Frenchies in today's day & age.
We are sorry you feel that way. The AKC does not set the breed standard for ANY BREED. We recognized the standards developed by the parent club or national organization. A dog is eligible for registration with our organization if they have the pedigree required. Concerns about the Frenchie standard or any other breed standard should be addressed with the parent club.
@@akcpr8601 Thanks for that info. The video here sure made it sound to me like back in the day Frenchie owners had to fight the AKC over the ear issue & because they had done so in such a fervent manner the AKC had to relent. As a layperson I always hear "The A K C doesn't recognize .... [insert any trait]", never hear "the x-breed club of America doesn't recognize A/B/C".
Losee Rich also though some of the fad colors come with health issues caused by getting that color. For example the silver, blue ones tend to have heart defects caused by the gene mutation needed to throw the color. This is why the fad colors are not accepted. Of course there are some healthy ones in those colors but it’s less often and we need to better the breed as is.
@@hatchmando4918 Totally understand the point of not wanting to propagate genetically deficient dogs. On the flip side there's no doubt politics comes into play with these things, even in this video they state there was basically a revolt/boycott to get the rose vs bat ear standard changed. On my 4th Frenchie and love them. Don't listen to the disinformation about them being lap dogs. They are far from it. From my experience they are just like a little Pitbull. Best breed ever

@@nikkij2322 The issue isn't us dealing with this breed's issues, but that the dog itself has to deal with these issues its entire life. Brachycephalic breeds, including french bulldogs, experience chronic lifelong breathing difficulties. It's not fair to breed that kind of condition into a dog, and it's not responsible to encourage their breeding when perfectly healthy breeds of dog already exist.
@@SalgatAustin there are many breeds of dogs that have been bred so much that they have health issues. it's not just bronchial breeds. My frenchie has zero breathing issues. if you feel so strongly about this subject I suggest you find another TH-cam channel.
@@nikkij2322 Brachycephalic breeds don't always show obvious symptoms. Further, you cannot know if you're dog will have issues until after you own it, so purchasing a dog from a breed that almost universally has the same chronic issue just continues the breeding and issues that come with it. I'm glad you were lucky enough that your dog doesn't have issues, but that doesn't fix the issues that the breed as a whole faces.
they are a lot of work being honest more then most dogs.ours has had to have a operation because of breathing problems its from the dog rescue so had the operation before we got her.they have very sensitive stomachs once you find a food that agrees best to just stick to that ,we use royal canine wet and dry food, yes you have to wipe their ears every day wipe over paws body after every walk .they get itcheds bites under them so we put dog aloe vera on her [not human must be specially for dogs.either clean her teeth or thise bones you get for cleaning teeth.we are working on the nails she screams everytime we try to do them probably going to have to take her to get those clipped, they love toys i mean obsessed everytime you go out she hopes you have a new one for her collection.have to say ours has got a very good back charges around the place and jumps high .we try to stop her but not easy shes about to turn 5 years old.,eyes dont seem to bad but a lot of dogs eventually when they grow old have bad eyes but ours is only 5 years..but they are wonderful dogs and if you can make the time i say go for it.if you dont keep taking the dog out several times a day it will poo in your house.
Linda Ward try switching food. My Lavender is now on Royal Canin French Bulldog and no issues with gas.its pricey, but so are the rest of the good foods. The shape of the Royal Canin is even matched to the specific breed.
My Lily is mean and bitchy to my other 2 dogs one is a 4 month old frenchie and my other is a 14 year old lab terrier mix she lives to harass them but they are all my babies.
A blue (or silver) is similar to, say, a white boxer or pure white dalmatian, they have a much higher risk of having health issues such as blindess, deafness, etc.

Mine is everything but calm. He’s more of a psychotic, a.d.d, hyper active furniture destroying beast who unleashes demon like gas capable of killing an elephant.
From experience French bulldogs get jealous and possessive with their owners and home. You will see this appear when they are over the age of 1 yrs of age when they become bossy and even a little aggressive in the park, and when they are with a group of French bulldogs. Hence you rarely see adult frenchies in large groups playing together. When you get another dog same sex after the age of your Frenchie being 1 yrs old it’s not a fun household for the first year. Nxt year I will let you know who they are going.

Still love dogo canario/presa canario more
My american bully snores i do not know if it is normal
Oh yes, their farts are toxic and can clear a room very quickly! Love ‘em though.
Linda Ward try switching food. My Lavender is now on Royal Canin French Bulldog and no issues with gas.its pricey, but so are the rest of the good foods. The shape of the Royal Canin is even matched to the specific breed.
TRUTH!!!!!!
You’re not wrong, but I still love them no matter what
bullshittttt!!!! my frenchie shes mean and bitchy but i still love her ❤️
My Lily is mean and bitchy to my other 2 dogs one is a 4 month old frenchie and my other is a 14 year old lab terrier mix she lives to harass them but they are all my babies.
Sarah starkwater..Boron is a vital vitamin...do some research,or forever be in pain...there's no helping some people
So breeders upping the price for "lilac blue" are not actually akc acceptable?!?!
misty blue nope. They are plagued more with health issues like heart defects
A blue (or silver) is similar to, say, a white boxer or pure white dalmatian, they have a much higher risk of having health issues such as blindess, deafness, etc.
Who does not want to have a frenchie?
Can’t think of anyone.
What would you expect a 4 month old to weigh?
My baby Gordo weighed 9.35 lbs at 13 weeks. He's now 11 months old and 29 lbs.
Smy name is Steffanie, and I love French Bulldogs! I want one, with a white chest. I wanna get her a bat costume. Agatha is going to need a boyfriend. My boyfriend is the BEST. Ugh. I love him. He likes frenchies almost as much as me. His next door neighbor has one called Garson. Boy, does he ever like it when we are bbqing. He pretends he doesn't love swimming. But he totally does. Once again... I have the best boyfriend ever. Have a nice day everybody!
Don’t forget the farting and shedding

The top 5 most popular dog breeds in 2018 are #1 Labrador Retriever, #2 German Shepherd Dog, #3 Golden Retriever, #4 French Bulldog, and #5 Bulldog.
American Kennel Club and what about 2019 now? what are the most popular dogs now?
@@chcocat We will announce 2019 most popular breeds in early 2020.
Mine is everything but calm. He’s more of a psychotic, a.d.d, hyper active furniture destroying beast who unleashes demon like gas capable of killing an elephant.
My coco don’t do shit lol his ass licks people to death before he even thinks about barking
